Attention Smokers: This hotel has smoking rooms. This is an excellent hotel in a quiet location but close to Times Square and the Empire State Building. Above average service and cleanliness, too. Rooms are large and mattresses are not old. Book this hotel for a great NYC experience, it is worth it.

From the moment we checked-in we knew we were on the receiving end of world-class service. The check-in process was smooth and efficient and they were able to store our luggage early so we could explore NYC. The room was clean, spacious and very well decorated. The attendant, when called, was always very helpful and provided exemplary customer service. The location of the hotel allowed us to explore much of the surrounding area by foot and cab, which was a huge benefit for our trip. We would not hesitant to stay at the Avalon again or recommend this hotel to anyone looking to travel to NYC. Thank you for the outstanding service and the wonderful hospitality.

The location was very nice. Close to k-twon and a lot of restaurants nearby. The rooms were very big for a Manhattan hotel. Very big bed, decent sized closet, huge bathroom and tub big enough to fit 2 people without it feeling too cramped. Tv has a decent size and had a little desk to work on. Free hot chocolate and coffee in the lobby and overall a very nice night.

Very nice boutique hotel in Midtown Manhattan. Excellent service, large rooms for Manhattan. We had a junior suite with two double beds and a sofa bed. Very nice bathroom. Top-notch, fast housekeeping. Great location, walking distance from Times Square, Empire State Building, Penn Station, Rockefeller Center, Bryant Park and NY Library. Buffet breakfast, included in some room rates othwise $17, was excellent. Bagels, breads, pastries, muffins, fresh fruit, hard-boiled eggs, cheeded, cereal, oatmeal and more. Juices, tea, coffee and milk. If charged
Is the hotel costly? Check the website and remember it's Midtown Manhattan. Watch out also for the $20 per day "amenities fee" plus the numerous NY taxes. They add up.

For the price we paid, we were not impressed with the room. We asked for a room facing the street of Manhattan and didn't get it. They said they were full. Which we knew they weren't. The hard wood floors of the room were broken. They charged 16.95 per person to eat breakfast! For the price you pay to stay here you should accommodate your visitors and give them breakfast! The staff not helpful at all. Don't book with them.

Compared to the Hotel Pennsylvania this place is a palace! I had a lovely stay here and the room was clean and spacious. Food was good and staff friendly. I would certainly book again. Some minor wear was noticed but I would rather give them 5 starts than 4. Well done and thanks for saving my holiday after spending one night in the Hotel Pennsylvania.

My dear TripAdvisors, you may stop researching boutique hotels because the Avalon is the answer to your quest! This visually delicious petite hotel is not only gorgeous but warm, snugly and truly inviting. The rooms are small, cozy and wonderfully designed; the staff is kind, gentle and eager to accommodate; the location is, well, perfect. How fantastic is it that the Avalon has a happy hour for their guest? Wine, nibblies and two incredible seating areas are available for your happy hour enjoyment. Hungry for more? Just saunter next door to the sister hotel, the Hollander, for some delicious eats. After your meal, utilize the Hollander free ride for a trip to the waterfront: the St. Pete sites will sooth your soul. Thank you to the staff at the Avalon. Our stay was ..perfect. cheers!

Was there as an overnight guest and got the King Suite. The suite was absolutely gorgeous!! The bathroom had two rooms to it! Stocked kitchen and spacious. All staff was courteous. Overall, my visit was amazing and I would definitely suggest staying there.

Two thumb down for this place. Five of us stayed at this Hotel a few weeks ago and had a horrible experience. First we were put in a room that had roaches. When we complained, they "upgraded" our room and to be honest, the roach room was better than the upgrade. The tile in our room was coming up causing me to trip over it. This place doesn't have their own parking. We paid $45 per night for a third party parking garage. When we got home we noticed an additional $20 charge Avalon gave us for who knows what! This place will nickel and dime you and when you complain about it, they will pull out the old "well you signed the contract". Horrible! horrible! horrible place! We will not be back

The location of the Avalon Hotel is in Midtown and it's not too far from a lot of local staples. It's also fairly close to the subway so it isn't a far walk to really get anywhere. The room is nice, clean and spacious.

I came here for a birthday weekend, paying their hefty prices for a premium experience. The service left me in the cold; I could have gotten better at a hotel.

The first and most important thing you need to know about this hotel is that they try to nanny you. They ask how many people you have and ridigly enforce it, acting as a bouncer for everyone who enters.

I didn t think i could find such a cool and comfortable hotel in such a location in south beach without breaking the bank. And a plus: the staff were super friendly and efficient, and i adore the breakfast "urban kitchen " style!

We booked a Junior Suite in November last year for our February stay through TravelZoo. The room was very big (for NYC) with two beds and a little sitting area. Everything was clean, the beds were reasonably comfortable, and it was very quiet. The service was friendly, and professional. Apparently, there is a "resort fee" that's being charged as of January 2017, but when we asked about it, stating it wasn't in any of the fine print off our prepaid booking, they took it off since we booked in November 2016. We were only there for one night, but it was a good experience.
