I am reluctant to tell you how much I like this place because I want to keep it all for myself. :) If you are not a finicky person looking for a Marriott-type experience, this place is awesome. It is also not touristy. The gentleman at the front desk (the main man) was very friendly. All the other guys who worked there were friendly, too. The sound of the city was like an ocean wave. On my last day, I felt like this was my neighborhood. I could fall out into the street and get anything I wanted. I could go back inside and get cozy when I needed a rest. If you want an authentic NYC experience, stay here. Pizza at the restaurant on corner was greatfriendly. CVS is very convenient. )Fun Fact: If you have a CVS card and use it there, they will honor the prices of your state.) I will go back.

We love this hotel! Perfect location, amazing prices, feels very safe and clean. The people that work here are extremely friendly! There’s not much else to ask for.
I'll start this off by saying that for the PRICE and LOCATION it IS a good deal. The room itself is also a DECENT room. good for what you're expecting, a quick crash pad. Now, the issue with the property is the staff. All, but 1. 1 single man is the literal only reason anyone should stay at this property. Do not expect hospitality from anyone for you will be sadly mistaken.
Small rooms. Beautiful building full of amazing wood work. No mini fridge Broken light switch and bulb Quite clean
Very nice location and amazing price if you compare with other NY hotel rates. The hotel itself is super, super simple, so don't go here expecting too much, but it is enough it you are on a budget
It was good! We had a good time and would do it again. Location was the best. A budget hotel, for sure but, clean and quite adequate. Staff was friendly and helpful. Room was small and no elevator. We spent time enjoying the city, not the room. Lack of elevator was ok for us. We are in decent shape and love to walk.
We were close to several subway lines so, getting around was easy. Bagel shop, pizza, hot dogs, subway, starbucks, pharmacies, k Mart and much more, all within a block from our room. Close to nyu, Washington square. What more could you want. Maybe 3 stars is too low. Make that 4.
Great location and a perfect spot for an inexpensive stay right in the heart of all movement. Be ready to pay the stay in cash good thing there is plenty of atm around in the area. And yes the hotel is not new but the rooms and areas were clean.
Amazing location, the matress is a little sqeeke but other than that clean as hell. Will certainly stay at the legendary St. Marks Hotel again.
If you want a low cost option for the location. Dirty sheets, little amenities, and cash only. Spend a few more bucks for better rooms and service.
St Marks Hotel is a fun fine establishment Friends from LA are in town this week for business and chose it due to its ideal location: the East Village. Its the total opposite of the Jane Hotel which hides deep in the West Village's quiet calm Both hotels are in the same price range but the Jane is without quick access to trains. St Marks has it all; conveniently located near Union Square, Alphabet City, So-Noho & Greenwhich Village. It depends on one's mood: if yer easily distracted and need a slower based R&R streamlined stay in NYC head to the Jane. If yer in town and wanna feel like a New Yorker, dont fret or be shy: everything is everywhere right on ones finger tips in Saint Marks.
For the price it isn't bad. It is cash only with a tiny room but we were only there to sleep so it suited us just fine. Clean with a friendly staff.
This is definitely a budget accommodation. If price rules your choice of hotels, then this is the place for you. The room & bath are very small, the bed only a double, and the room not much wider than the bed. While the room & bath were clean, there are no amenities in the room like a coffee service
