I really enjoyed the hotel and the cleanliness and the free shuttle to downtown. My boyfriend and I were celebrating our five year anniversary and decided to try out the restaurant below to celebrate with some wine and dinner. There was no one seated to eat but we had three workers look at us and pretend as if they didn’t see us. We waited for way too long and finally when someone came to seat us she said we’d have to wait a little longer because the tables weren’t cleaned next to the windows yet.
Anyways, we got sat in the booth right next to some employees that seemed to be on their lunch and one seemed to be the night manager. I was so irritated because as were trying to enjoy our wine all I can hear is them talking about co-workers and other customers. It was totally unprofessional and it got to the point where our server wasn’t taking care of us and she’d turn around and start talking to them instead. If you stay in this hotel avoid the restaurant at all costs. The food is decent and the wine was good but for what you’re paying I’d just go spend your time and money somewhere else.

It's a three star hotel for sure. There's nothing especially great about the rooms, nor is there anything bad. My room faced the highway and I could hear the traffic all night. The toilet would sound like it was cycling water every fifteen minutes, so I closed the bathroom door to muffle the noise. The complementary coffee in the lobby was a nice touch, as was the free shuttle. Free parking is the biggest plus to this place. Location leaves a little too be desired since it's two miles north of the Devos center, and there's nothing really next to the hotel. To sum it all up, you get what you pay for here. OH, the shower head is high enough for a taller person to shower comfortable, big plus!

Very nice place. Good breakfast. Excellent customer service. Free shuttle to downtown where ever you want to go. Right off highway and easy to get to. Would stay again.

Amazing rooms, amazing service and it is close to the down town area with free shuttle services to downtown. They also have free coffee for their guests and a great pool/hot tub area. They also offer a nice outside area that includes a large chess set and a few fire pits for romantic nights. This hotel offers a restaurant and a lounge for guests to hang out at, and it is right off the highway. My family and I will definitely be gong back!

We reserved this for an event in GR it was way cheaper than other places a few miles closer. We were not disappointed! While I feel this is an older hotel they have done obvious work to fix it up. All new fixtures and amenities in the rooms. A beautiful (8' deep) pool and large sauna. Rooms are clean and well kept.

We would definitely stay here again in GR. No worries!

This place may have updates but was less than up to par. My room came complete with a used wash cloth with pubic hair. My tub had a really long hair on the side of the tub along with a small hair critter around the drain and the tiolet wasn't working properly. I asked for a river view and it was on my confirmation but did not receive. I left my pillow behind called on it three times only to be told after a week that I had to call their shipping service to get it. No. I WILL NOT stay here again.

Reserved this hotel because it was on the river and I am not familiar with Grand Rapids. Should have known the price was way too good to be true. Was told we could check-in @ 3pm. Checked in at 4:10 pm and was told no rooms were ready because they were being cleaned. Denise was the check-in lady and she was rude and nonchalant. I called the front desk every 20 minutes for an update and they didn't have one for me. Finally, at 5:45pm, I went up to the front desk and stated, 1. The rooms better be immaculate for this wait, and 2. If the room is not ready at this point, I want a refund and I am going somewhere else. Danielle was helping me this time, she was more easy going. She said there was one room that just became available and it was mine. When she called the room though (why she called the room was beyond me), she claimed the room was already occupied. All while this is going on, the hotel manager is telling Denise "how stupid these people are for wanting a free buffet in the morning because of the inconvenience and if he can help they aren't getting $&%#. I got my refund and went to Comfort Suites, where I had a much easier and nicer experience. Later that night, a friend who lives in Grand Rapids says to stay away from The Grand River Hotel at ALL COST!

Great service and views. From my experience the place was very clean. I spend a lot of time in hotels and this is definitely one of the better places. TV stations and picture quality could be worked on. That is lacking. Seems like depending on the room, some rooms get better quality pictures and different stations then others. Past that, I couldn't find any faults with the place. Great views of the river, very friendly staff.

I was assisting a celebrity who stayed there for a movie shoot. Because it was so close to the film set, it was a good option. Larry and other desk staff were extremely helpful as we prepared the room before a 230am arrival, quickly taking care of fixes (there was a lightbulb out), and getting us in to clear stuff out later.

When I ordered takeout food from the restaurant, Jamie, Rikki and Kathleen were very helpful in helping me make it a great personal experience for him, including tons of menu and on the side requests. Thank you for the great service!

The price for the room was good. It was cheaper than all the other hotels in the area. The lobby was nice and the outside looked recently renovated. Thr court yard they have is really pretty. The inside, looked like the hotel had recently been "flipped". From standing back at the door the room appeared decent but looking closely at things everything appeared extremely cheap. The mattress was comfortable but sounded like it was made of rubber, the bathroom had a tub and toilet that was quite old. We stayed on the seventh floor which seemed like an afterthought because the ceiling was about 6.5 feet tall. The hallway also smelled like an old apartment building when everyone smokes and is cooking dinner at the same time. Overall, I probably would have spent the extra $20 or so and stayed somewhere nicer.

Rooms weren't clean at check-in. We waited almost two hours to get our rooms. The front desk manager was helpful but some of the rest of the front desk staff was not. The hotel has been updated but corners were definitely cut. All told, it was clean and acceptable.

I was at the grand river hotel for an event in one of their banquet rooms. The location was great so easy to find. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful in leading me to where I needed to go. The banquet room was perfect size for the event, I would definitely recommend this place to someone.

This hotel has been through many changes, but all for the better. Most recent update is an outdoor paint job. It truly makes it stand out. A great hotel with a great price with an equally great location. Just outside out downtown to be quiet, but not so far you feel away from it all. Definitely worth the stay.

Hotel was decent but weekend was marred with this: Advertised room service which did not happen from the adjoining restaurant, River Rock at the Grand. Said they were too busy and asked us to come down to the restaurant (What's the point of room service?). Did go down to the restaurant and waited for 10 minutes before a waitress finally came over. When I told her I wanted to get food to go, she disappeared for another 10 minutes without taking my order. Finally left and complained at the front desk without any satisfaction. Foolishly tried to get room service the next morningthey answered the phone and hung up without taking our order. Again, front desk could only apologize and nod their head that they were sorry. Didn't expect anything for free but did expect the hotel to let the restaurant know they lost our business.
Will not stay here again and do not recommend it for future travelers.

My husband and I loved our stay at the Riverfront hotel. The rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable. They have a big, deep pool and a large hot tub. There is also a nice bar/restaurant inside the hotel which was great for breakfast and dinner. We will definitely stay here again when we visit Grand Rapids.
