The place was a bit rundown with persons 'hanging out' inside and out. This gave the sence of being unsafe. However the room was clean and bed very comfortable. I was only at the hotel from 9pm to 9am. No one lingering in the morning.
The hall carpet was extremely stained and the lobby looked as if it was waiting to be painted. The clerk indicated it had been that way for some time.
Location was more convenient that I expected when booking. We were at an event closer to downtown than the airport. Our room was clean. The motel in general was a bit frayed: the parking lot surface was cracked and heaved by winter frost--but no potholes; the front door entrance had a couple of postings--not exactly welcoming; wall at reception desk had the wallpaper removed and did not appear to be in an immediate state of repair; the clerks were friendly and welcoming; there seemed to be inadequate sound proofing between rooms and floors--we could hear people moving on the floor above us as we walked the hallway to our room; our room was clean and we most likely would have used the in-room hot tub had we not been so tired; being near the far end of the hallway, we did not experience room noise from other guests, but we suspect we would have had we been in a room more centrally located. For the cheap price we paid, it was a fair deal. For a one night stay we might book this place again.
This Motel 6 was SO bad. Here's a list of pros and cons from our experience:
Cons:
- There was at least two inches of space underneath the doors. Anyone could look under the door from the hallway and see everything and everyone in the room.
- We could also hear from the hallway literally everything everyone said inside their own rooms. We could hear everything from our room too that was going on in the hallway and other rooms.
- The room was supposed to be nonsmoking but smelled heavily of smoke.
- There were bugs
- The room was not cleaned very well and there were stains on the bed sheets and comforter.
- The bath towels were very thin and scratchy.
- The wall plugs didn't work and our phone charger would just fall out of the plug because it was so loose.
- There weren't any "Do Not Disturb" signs provided. Because we had our dog with us, we went to the Lobby to tell them not to enter the room, even if we weren't in there because we didn't want our dog to get out. They told us no one was scheduled to go in until the end of our stay. Literally the next day, the housekeepers insisted on coming into the room. She didn't do anything but look around. We told her not to come in again and had to tell her our dog was not friendly (he's a big dog who loves everyone but we needed her to be afraid of him in order for her to not come in again). We ended up making our own Do Not Disturb sign and hung it on the door when we were gone.
- The key card on the side entrance of the building was broken. So they would leave a big rock in the door so that the customers could enter, but that also meant that ANYONE could enter, whether they were customers or not.
- The employees simply didn't care about their job and it was very obvious
(The lost could go on but I'm going to stop here for the sake of time)
Pros:
- They allow dogs and don't have a weight limit
- They provide dog poop bags
- It was only about $50 a night
- It's located by food places and shopping centers
The woman that checked me in (name tag said "manager on duty") did not smile or make eye contact once. Seemed to really hate her job. The housekeeper I saw in the hallway was friendly and greeted me cheerfully. The room was dated but clean. Only one skimpy pillow on the bed and was told there were no extra pillows when I requested. The channel guide in the room had a menu for a local restaurant, but when I tried to order they said they didn't deliver there and the motel was supposed to have taken them off their channel guide. The price was cheaper than many local places to stay, but for what it was it should have even been a bit cheaper.
Overall I was very impressed with Motel 6, great quality for the price! The rooms were simple, but clean and the bed was very comfortable. There was a reoccurring issue with the key -- it often didn't work, and then it 'expired' the second evening of my stay and I had to get it recoded again. It was a bit of a nuisance to traipse down to the front desk several times to get the keys figured out, but all in all not that big of deal.
The price made this trip an affordable option. Bed was comfy, room was rather clean. The furniture is older and tacky, the carpet is gross. The parking is easy, and we got discounts to local restaurants. Happy we stayed here. Hope they upgrade these rooms soon. Staff was helpful and friendly.
Very easy to get to. Room was clean and comfortable. Loved having really hot water during my showers-probably the nicest motel shower I've ever had! Only thing I didn't like was strangers repeatedly knocking on my door. Also wished you provided coffee in the lobby.
I stayed in room 227. First had lot of difficulty entering the room. The electronic card was really worn out. Came out for a reason, second time entry was worst than first. Took many minutes to enter.
There was no cooling in the room. Luckily I was able to open the window.
That helped a lot. It has been long time since I tried to sleep with window open. I may had 1 to 1 1/2 hours of sleep.
We were looking for an inexpensive room for a couple of days so we could see the tulips at festival time in Holland. Our room was clean and convenient as we were all older and needed a ground floor and they were very helpful, we would stay again!!!
We stayed overnight on a trip out of state the next day, and the personnel at the front desk were so helpful in allowing us to leave our car while we traveled and taking a cab to the airport. Our room was clean and comfortable, and frankly, what more could one ask for the price? All and all, good stay and service.
You get what you pay for. It's a lower class motel for a lower price. Door locked perfectly fine. Ac worked. Everything in room worked. Bed was clean floor was clean. Only downside was no microwave like front desk clerk said there would be. Also wish there would be a fridge to keep food in. And a small breakfast would be nice even just apples and a bagel or something.
Overall, the room was well worth the price. It was clean and the staff was friendly and helpful.
I was disappointed that the room smelled like cigarette smoke, so some prior tenant must have been smoking there. It was not too bad, but I would have asked for a different room if we were staying more than 1 night.
Some people don't follow the rule about picking up after their dog, but that was not a surprise.
The heat/AC worked, and the bed was comfortable so overall I was pleased with the room.
The staff was very nice. There was only one person ahead of me and she seemed to be very eager to make out check in process as quick as possible so we can get to our rooms since it was very late. Room was neat and send to be clean. For the price that I paid for the night I would have to say I was very satisfied. Mostly by the staff the night of my check in. Thank you
