There are numerous reasons to be a visitor to the Amway Grand. My experience has been that the Ruth's Chris restaurant is an excellent dining experience. The hotel itself is majestic lots to look at and many photo opportunities. You feel as if it could be 1917, if not for the modern clothing of the visitors. I recommend journeying to the Cygnus restaurant at the top of the hotel to take in breathtaking views of the city, even if you're not staying for dinner.

I absolutely love this hotel, and I stay here every time I visit Grand Rapids. It’s conveniently located and has many great amenities in or attached to the hotel itself. The lobby is elegant, the restaurants are top notch, and the rooms are nice, always clean, and comfortable. Also the staff is very friendly and helpful - I recently stayed for a few days and got an amazing room upgrade from the nicest receptionist.

I stayed here for a work event so I didn't spend a whole lot of time enjoying the amenities. However, the staff was extremely friendly and very helpful. In fact, I typically sleep with a fan and forgot it, I called the concierge and they brought one up to me in minutes. The room was very spacious and quiet. The bath towels seemed a little old, they definitely have lost their fluff. The elevators were a bit small and a bit of a pain having to scan your room key, especially when multiple people were riding and one card would only allow 2 floors to be chosen at a time. Overall, it was a good experience and I would stay their again.

The Grand Plaza was a great place to stay. I attended a professional conference there. The rooms were clean and spacious, and the staff was both friendly and professional. There are a number of restaurants located in the hotel, including a Starbucks, which made staying there very convenient. However, things were slightly more expensive than normal as a price of this convenience. The hotel takes up an entire city block, as it is compromised of 3 different buildings originally. This made navigating the different areas challenging, but the hotel had interactive touch screen maps posted in many locations, which helped a lot. The location of the hotel was fantastic. We were able to walk to the museums located near by, as well as a wide variety of restaurants and bars with live performances in the downtown area. The hotel also had a gender nuetral bathroom, which was a boon to the transgender members of our conference. I'm very happy I stayed there.

The staff was professional and courteous, and the lobby is amazing. I stayed in the old part of the hotel and they did a great job renovating. One thing that I wish they did better was sound insulation. I heard my neighbors pretty easily later at night. I didn't want to complain because I didn't think they were being excessive, it was just easy to hear them. Also, the outlet situation could be better. Overall, despite the exquisite setting, I feel like the room could be more comfortable.

Such a beautiful historic hotel. Service goes above and beyond! Would definitely recommend this hotel to everyone. In the heart of downtown Grand Rapids. Between public transportation and different sites to take in, just in walking distance. Can't wait to explore more. Just checked in late last night!

Very nice, but also old (historic.) If your a tall/large person, this may not be the best place for you as it was built a very long time ago. But again, it's very nice and in a great location downtown GR.

Spotlessly clean, cheerful staff, good location riverside on edge of downtown, two very good museums - Gerald Ford and GR historical museum - just a gentle stroll across the footbridge. Interesting building joining old and new. Food very ordinary and attached Wolfgang Puck kitchen and counter truly underwhelming for me although local reviewers are more sympathetic. Very helpful concierge, efficient valet parking. Our stay in Grand Rapids definitely enhanced staying here. For sure, the ‘headquarters ‘ hotel in this interesting midwestern city.

I got a riverside room with the romance package to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday with him this year. From the moment we arrived, it was amazing. The staff truly cared that our needs were met. The room was clean. The view was beautiful. The bed was one of the most comfortable I've slept in ever. It's just blocks from a great variety of bars and restaurants. I can't wait to come back again.

This hotel is absolutely fantastic. The staff goes above and beyond to make every stay perfect. The rooms are generous and the views are great. The restaurants on floor level are also superb. The fitness center features a large pool, two hot tubs, and an exercise room. The tower side rooms are modern and the other side are historical. Call if you have questions about the differences.

Great hotel! Everything was in working order, staff was friendly, clean hotel. The location was great, well connected to everything around, with the garage costing $24 with in and out privileges. Staff provided a very cute Disney 1 year anniversary item for us upon a general request and my wife loved it. Thank you!

The Amway Grand Plaza is a beautiful building inside and out. Looking it over as a venue option for my upcoming wedding I have found that my options are plentiful, the staff well trained and well versed. They were very helpful and knowledgeable as well as friendly. The selection of rooms and suites was varied and offered options for both pre and post wedding or other event including honeymoon accommodations.

I just stayed at the Amway Grand this weekend for a volleyball tournament with my daughter. We called Tuesday to cancel our Friday reservation because she received a last minute invite to prom. We were informed that the Amway has a two night minimum - okay not a fan of that but it is what it is. When I showed up Saturday morning to check in they didn't have a room for us. I explained that I had a reservation for Friday and Saturday and tried to cancel Friday and they would not let me - therefore there had to be a room for me because I was paying for it. They said no, "you didn't show up last night". I said, "So, I paid for a room and accordingly it should be available to me." They explained nothing was available. So I asked, "Seeing as though you don't have a room like you should I assumed that I am not paying for last night". I was told, "Sir we have a two night minimum." We went round and round and all they said was you didn't show up and we have a two night minimum. Heads they wintails I lose. To be clear I understand the concept of a two night minimum and I was willing to pay it. That said, if I do pay for two nights then I believe it is their obligation to have my room reserved for me for two nights. What if I had shown up in the middle of the night? If you give my room to another guest then don't charge me for it. Double dipping is not right. To add insult to injury I received a receipt under my door for a one night charge. I assumed that they had done the right thing and adjusted my bill seeing as though they didn't have a room ready for me. Nope, they made me think that they had done the right thing so I wouldn't complain at checkout. Decent is decent and fair is fair. The Amway in not decent or nor fair in their dealings. It is a nice hotel although not nearly as nice as they think it is (they think quite highly of themselves). I would recommend staying awayI have been to GR many times for many tournaments and stayed in very nice hotels, with much better service, that don't have two night minimums that cost a lot less. You'd do yourself a favor to shop a bit - you'll be rewarded with a much better experience than the one I just had. Have a great time on your trip to GR - it's a really nice town.

The Amway was great! Awesome dining within walking distance and even had a cafe and restaurant in the building for when you didn't want to brave the Michigan chill. The pool and fitness center were great, and everything looked delightfully antique. Staff was courteous at the desk, within dining, and the valet crew. Awesome experience.

Gorgeous hotel. Stayed here for a wedding. Parking in their designated ramp is easy but you have to pay extra. Great rooms, comfortable beds. We arrived early, before our room was available, but we were able to check in and receive a text when our room was ready which was super convenient.
