The location was exquisite,it was right beside the beach and has tons of stores near by. The rooms were not shabby whatsoever they were big had a fridge, and something that not a lot of other places had with was a balcony. The service was alright, but they were nice, and the pool was so f&*kin dope it was huge had an 8 foot area and also had a little pond witch had little goldfish in it.

Warning - bright white lights. This is not a factor for most people but for a party of business travelers for whom I purchased a block of rooms - it was no good. The updated rooms include that new blueish-white tone to their lighting much as you'd find in a garage or laundry room, but a bit dimmer. The hotel is nice enough, the staff is attentive. But if a warm lighting concept (like the rest of the world enjoys) is important to you, know that you will not get that here.

Great hotel with an awesome location. The room we had was nice and spacious. The bed was very comfortable as well. The only problem we had was a broken AC unit but they quickly offered us another room to use for the rest of our stay

Short overnight stay. Most restaurants close at 10pm, including the in-house bar. Find food before then. Shower took 5 minutes for hot water to come to room 223, but it did come. I slept decent, although very short stay.

For years this has been our family's most favorite hotel to visit. We have been staying at this location since long before the remodel and name change to Hotel MdR. We stayed for 3 nights at the end of July 2018 and sadly, I think it is probably our last time.

Part of this is not the fault of the hotel but is worth mentioning. Marina del Rey has lost quite a bit of charm with the massive building of multi-level shops and living in the past few years. The views are not what they once were and the traffic, always bad, is horrible pretty much any time, any day. It is my understanding that much of the shopping right next to the hotel is going to be changed in the coming year or so and I am sad to see that happen as it has a variety of shops including a bookstore we like to frequent.

As far as the stay itself, we were disappointed by several issues. For one, the pool was not kept clean. The deck was covered with droppings of some kind of fruit or pod from the trees. These also were in the water along with several items of trash (bandaids, etc) and I have not experienced this before ever at this hotel. Usually it is exceptionally clean so I do not know if this is unusual or more of a current trend.

There are several things that detract from a "family friendly" atmosphere for me. The price of the rooms make it cost prohibitive to have more than one room when traveling with more than 4 people or in my case traveling with teenagers who are the size of full grown adults. Three adult bodies and one child makes the rooms feel very small but at $320 a night there was no way we were going to spring for a second room.

The restaurant in the lobby does not have much "kid" food options and we ended up getting food elsewhere when we had a family dinner for the adults poolside. There is a hamburger and pizza on the menu but they are not the traditional version a child might wish for. It is also expensive, in my opinion, particularly for what you get.

It used to be a treat for my kids to get a couple items from the snack/refreshment area of the lobby. I expect to pay a little more than at a store but $5 for a regular size candy bar or $3 for a single serving bag of chips is ridiculous! We paid less for bottled water in Disneyland than we did at the hotel!

We usually treat ourselves to the breakfast buffet once or twice per stay and the kids look forward to it. This time we decided $19 per person was just a waste of money and ate elsewhere.

On the plus side, the rooms are always clean and the staff are by far some of the best I've encountered at hospitality establishments. It must be a good place to work because we see a lot of the same faces from year to year when we have been there. It was also very helpful that we were able to check out of our room but stay poolside for a few hours while waiting to go to the airport for our flight home. We have wonderful memories of Hotel MdR and will always cherish those special times.

Extremely run down and very poorly kept. The hotel website pictures are very deceiving. Beyond the lobby area the property is very old and in disrepair. Hotel allowed guests to hang their laundry all over the property which was generally a filthy mess throughout. The quality of the breakfast buffet was comically poor with extremely long waits for the omelet station. This is a destination for families and their young children. If you like noisy, dirty and disrespectful crowds then this is the place for you. We will seriously consider looking at other hotel chains in the future despite being a longtime Hilton diamond member. Staff seemed overwhelmed and disinterested in providing any sort of customer service. Consider booking elsewhere and don't be fooled by hotels pictures.

Review is for Barbianca, the restaurant inside the hotel. Went on a Fri for happy hour. It was empty, which was nice. More people came in after happy hour, and never got crowded or fully booked, even though NBA playoff finals was on. More upscale setting, so place stays pretty quiet. Nice patio seating, especially on a sunny day. Drinks and food were okay when on happy hour prices, but I didn't think it was worth normal price. There's free 3 hour parking with validation, but if your get there early enough, it's pretty easy to find parking in neighboring parking lots. Service was good; very patient with us, even though we were pretty rowdy.

Beautiful property, maintained at the highest level. Front desk staff is fabulous, guestroom is spacious and modern, housekeeping is prompt and thorough. Maintenance/engineering staff are a little odd/creepy walking through the halls and checking rooms seemingly at random almost like they're casing the joint. Parking is plentiful but not cheap, and not sure about shuttle access if you aren't driving. Location is great if you have business in Marina del Rey, mere blocks away from a number of good restaurants and entertainment options. Pool is a bit small, but beautifully maintained, and the onsite restaurant appears to be solid, with tons of room and obvious business leanings with power ports at many tables. Meeting space is a bit limited and exposed with a glass fish bowl aesthetic in the main lobby. Would definitely stay again.

Friendly staff and welcomes upon arrival. The shower had low water pressure unfortunately, and the fridge was not very cold. A very nice family hotel located by nearby dining establishments. If you're in for a real adventure, take their bike rentals - on site - and explore the harbor and beach.

Very clean and visually appealing. I was meeting some family who were staying at the hotel. We were hanging out at the pool which is a bit small and doesn't have a spa. The pool was too cold at the time for the kids but there was a waterfall with small fish nearby to keep the kids occupied. I would probably stay at this hotel because of its location and the rooms look very comfortable. There are lots of restaurants within walking distance too.

Had a wonderful stay at the MdR Doubletree in Marina del Rey, CA. The staff was very friendly and attentive. (Although they forgot my breakfast vouchers the first day but let me have a late checkout so that balances out for me!). The pool was nice and warm. The room is a bit older but it was still very comfortable. The breakfast buffet was delicious offering a variety of foods and I could order an espresso and a latte. They had French toast, cheese filled crepes, fruit, yogurt, a power drink (all veggies and fruit), salmon, eggs, bacon, sausage, oatmeal, Across the Street they have a variety of shops, restaurants and even a movie theater. It is a great location near the marina and close enough to the beach. Be careful though if you come in the spring the fog rolls in around 7:30 pm and doesn't burn off until about 10am making the temperature in that area about 10 degrees colder than normal - Other than that- it was awesome. I would definitely stay here again.

It was amazing, the staff at the front desk were great. The room was sparkling and beautiful. It was a little cold outside when I was there, but the pool was heated and nice. They had a gym that was wonderful and surprisingly clean for a gym. It really was a wonderful trip and to top it all off, it was 5 minutes from the beach! I am coming back next time I go to California.
