The all inclusive was extremely disappointing!!! The food was terrible. Even the water and the alcohol could be improved. The window leaked so bad it flooded near the area when it rained but they did come to clean it right away. The view and the pools were great. There is no hot tub and pools close at 8pm. The overall room comfort was decent. Great bathrooms and the facility was clean! The service was great- everyone was so nice! They engaged in many activities for everyone to participate. This location is across the street from some sketch shops but they were convenient. Massages across the street were worth it!
Amazing hotel, one of the best I've been to in Cancun.
top shelf tequila unlimited as well as good quality food all inclusive.
bang for your buck is unmatched here.
the view is amazing and the water is crystal clear.
loved every moment i spent here.
theirs a strip in Cancun with restaurants and night clubs and so forth and its easily one of the best vacation spots for the money.
love it , 10/10.
Riu Palace was overall a good experience, but not quite as expected, and a few things were lacking. Good stuff: The hotel itself is beautiful, and the staff was friendly and helpful. The junior suite room had a beautiful ocean view. The bathroom was spacious, and the shower was awesome. Dinner offerings were good and the live entertainment in the evenings was enjoyable. The location being adults only was great. The bad: breakfast was terrible. The pools close at sundown. The hotel beachfront is small. There is no humidity control in the rooms so everything is damp, all the time. Electrical outlets are scarce - with nearly every traveler having a cell phone and another electronic device, the one outlet on one side of the bed was not enough. Access to an additional outlet required unplugging the coffee pot or venturing into the bathroom.
The hotel is beautiful and kept very clean. The staff is eager to please and helpful and sweet. There are multiple restaurants to choose from, but the food overall is pretty bland. The steakhouse was the best of the choices. If you wait until after 7 for dinner, expect to wait 40-50 minutes so you'll end up at the lounge for drinks until the buzzer beeps. The rooms are clean. The floors are slick from the humidity. There's a mini bar for use, included. Overall, nice stay but I wish there food was better. I was hoping for really good Mexican food and not an Americanized version of it.
Riu service is always amazing, no complaints at all. I've been to several Riu Resorts throughout the Caribbean and have loved each one. This resort in Cancun is great and the ocean is beautiful. The only complaint I have is the sense of relaxation. This resort brings great energy, however the music and people are loud all over the place. I believe it is partly because the beach is smaller and significantly more cramped. Great resort for those looking for more social atmosphere and partying. Not the best for those that are looking to fully relax and avoid lost of people and noise. Riu has always done a great job and they always have the best service. I will always be satisfied with Riu.
The service and hospitality is unrivaled to any other. The amenities included in the all inclusive us exactly what you wanted and expected. I absolutely enjoyed my stay here.
Beautiful, all inclusive adults only resort. No hidden fees. Super clean, great food, awesome rooms and excellent service. Top notch evening entertainment and fun poolside activities. A little something for everyone here whether you're looking to relax or ready to party. Highly recommend this resort!
Adults only. Classy, high end resort. Food options were fabulous. No reservations needed at specialty restaurants. Drink waiter at poolside and lounge area. Such a pleasant surprise! Short shuttle from Cancun airport. We will go again, for sure!
Wonderful girls trip to celebrate my birthday!
Hotel is beautiful, staff amazing! We stayed a week and was my favorite trip by far! 1st time staying at a RIU and was definitely impressed!
Drinks and food were great! Free upgrade to ocean view room for all of us.
Only complaint would be bars are all closed by 1 a.m..
Met some amazing people as well! Just wish I'd have gotten his info😢
When there for 14 days (August 11 to 25). Hotel is nice, food was great, waiters and waitresses were very nice and friendly. The beach is also nice, there should be more umbrellas though. The only problem with this hotel is if you want peace and quiet time, don't go there it's for adult only, but I don't consider 18-19 and 20 years old, getting drunk from very early in the morning to the end of the day and yelling all day long very adult It was the worst of all the places that we travel to we had a call from the desk downstairs asking us how was going our vacations and I had to tell the truth the only thing that I was told was: if they bother you, call us well I would have been calling all day long, because they were yelling all day long, from one side of the hotel to the other side coming back at night (3:00 - 4:00am) and yelling in the corridors and then they got hungry and called room service and we could hear the cart and the doors closing very loudly when "normal" people are trying to sleep in the middle of the night I couldn't wait to go home and I will never go back to Cancun again Maybe we'll go to Riviera Maya but I will do my research very thorougly to find a very nice and quiet hotel. We've been 25 once, but now we want something else and we never thought that with a nice hotel like this we would find that kind of people there Very sorry, it was big bucks for two weeks and we were very disappointed.
Overall, spectacular, near perfect. We spent nine days here and had absolutely no complaints. If you look at the pictures on the website, they are truly representative of the resort, which is often not the case. Any poor reviews must be people who are impossible to please. Here's the breakdown, minus the detail I wanted to include, but the character limit wouldn't let me:
Check-in: Check in is at 3. Don't expect to check in early, however, the staff was great about letting us constantly check back from 1pm on. Prior to check-in, the staff holds your bags and there's plenty to do in the interim.
Drinking water: Stick to the water served in the restaurants and unlimited bottled water from the 24-hour cafe. The review that mentions no water is either false or out of date. Six of us had no issues. Don't drink from the faucet, as that water is not filtered like the water in the restaurants.
Rooms: We stayed in the basic-level room and it was gorgeous. Large, with a fridge, mini bar, patio, sitting area, and large bathroom. Everything was spotless. Room service was great, we opted not to have them clean our room, but the front desk frequently checked in with us and the staff always offered clean towels and toilet paper.
Grounds: The grounds are stunning and the architecture beautiful. The staff is excessive and is constantly cleaning, wiping up sand and water, trimming the trees and bushes, sweeping, cleaning the glass, etc. It's literally spotless.
Pools: Someone mentioned "two small pools" First, there are three pools, one small, which is off to the western wing which is great just for getting wet and relaxing. The main pool is large, albeit not deep. If you're looking to swim laps, look elsewhere, but for relaxing, there's plenty of space and lots of stairs and ledges to sit on.
Bars: The bartenders are quick, friendly, and the drinks are strong. They never make you feel like you're ordering too fast or too many. I'd recommend that you find your favorite bar/bartender for certain drinks, otherwise they can be inconsistent.
Food: The food was outstanding. Again, I cannot understand the reviews that say the food is "average". I am a foodie and very critical, and other than a few things that I just personally didn't like, most of the food was delicious. The buffet selection is huge and the restaurants great too.
Entertainment: There a large indoor/outdoor club that features nightly entertainment in the form of either Karaoke or a live band. The live bands were okay, not great, but to be expected.
Beaches: The one thing nice about these beaches is that the placement of the resort makes it such that the beaches are very secluded from other resorts. There was plenty of space, and the louder crowd tended to hang on the south/east beach.
Excursions: The hotel - via Scuba Caribe - makes it easy to do things like snorkel. Well organized, and flexible if weather is bad.
Staff overall: I cannot say enough nice things about the staff. We talked to a few of them who expressed that they were very happy working for Riu. The staff was 100% accommodating, they are there for your every need and honestly, my only comment would be that there were TOO many of them! It was somewhat overwhelming to be taken such good care of, you do have to be constantly saying "no" to more drinks, water, etc, but that's better than not having enough waitstaff. I really cannot think of one time where the staff was rude, slow, incompetent, or not available. They are literally everywhere!
Things I'd like to see improve:
-Exhaust fans in the bathroom
-More outside bathrooms
-More authentic Mexican entertainment
-More beach umbrellas
-More soda options (only Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, Orange, 7up). I would have liked a caffeine free diet soda
I HIGHLY recommend this resort. Our family has been to several others and everyone agreed this was BY FAR the best. We will be back every year, no doubt.
Good service, good food Drinks just keep coming. Clean and comfortable. My only caution to anyone is don't get too drunk. I witnessed a woman fall and smack her head on the ground. The first responders here basically just stood there and did nothing and kept saying she is just drunk. Then they told her to just lay down. When my husband said hey I am a first responder their reply, "not in Mexico you're not". There is a doctor on site but they don't offer it up because it coat extra Super frustrating . Other than that I would recommend staying here. I think the kind of incident I mentioned above is at every hotel. Kinda scary, just watch your alcohol intake. Even though it is adults only it was a huge pool party daily There is an area to relax too and oc course the beach is pretty relaxing. Lots of blue water and fish swimming around you. This is our second time here. And we would come back.
The staff treats you like royalty! The pools, and beach are clean and gorgeous! The food is average, nothing spectacular, but good nonetheless. The only major complaint I have is the humidity in the rooms. The floor in our room was constantly wet and sticky. The bed sheets always had a damp feeling. We kept the patio door closed and AC and fan on, and still everything including our clothes always felt wet. I believe that's just the climate, nothing the hotel staff can really do. The room was beautiful though and we recieved a free upgrade upon arrival which was nice.
I do wish there were more activities to do during the day or events. We ventured next door to the other Riu Resort to use their Sports Bar and night club. Your wrist band allows you to go to any other Riu resort which was nice!
Overall, our trip was awesome! The staff was great!
Great hotel. Staff was always friendly and there are always cleaning the place. Rooms are a decent size and the bathrooms are bigger than most. The bed could be improved, it was very firm. The hotel is about 25 minutes from the airport. Food was also good. Had many different cuisines to choose from. I would come back again.
This place is heaven on Earth. Fantastic staff, excellent drinks, great food .. what more could you want? Very highly recommended for all couples looking for a great place to spend some time away without the screaming kids and noisy spring breakers.
Wide variety of resort restaurants to choose from without needing reservations. Poolside service was fast and friendly. Rooms were always clean and neat. Lots of fun activities and nearby shops!
We had an AMAZING time. This trip was my Christmas present.. I was a little skeptical because my fiancé booked on his own and I like to read reviews and do my research.. but this hotel exceeded all of my expectations. The service was exceptional, everything was very clean and the food was pretty good. We tried the steak house and Krystal and both had very good dinners. Ate at the buffet for mostly everything else and they had a wide variety of foods. I loved the breakfast.. the beach was beautiful and our ocean view room was absolutely beautiful. Would definitely stay here again!
Currently on our second of six nights here at Riu Palace Las Americas and so far it's been a great experience. The staff has been great in accommodating our needs and the food has been very good. We love the swim up bar and the daily activities provided. Also we love the ocean view from our room! Our friend got just the regular junior suite and even though the room is just as nice, it's worth the price difference to not be on your balcony staring at another hotel.
I reserved a suite with a king bed and when I went to check in to the hotel they notified me that they did not have my room and that they had pushed two beds together to make up for their mistake. The ironic part about this is that a couple in our group who booked two months after us had a king bed in their room so I was a bit confused as to why they held it for them and not us?
The views of the ocean were amazing and the staff inside the hotel were very pleasant so this is not a dig at them. However, we attempted to set up a sailing trip for the day with the booth on property right near the pools. They quoted us $80/person and the trip would be from 9-5. They explicitly told us to be at the booth at 8:45am so that's what we did. We did not get on our boat until 10am! Despite that we all had a positive attitude for the trip as we were all looking forward to snorkeling and exploring. Once on the boat, we traveled to a pier and stopped and didn't realize that we were picking up 45 other passengers! The boat was so heavy that we were sinking into the water and it felt very unsafe. They then told us that we would not be snorkeling because of the weather conditions. They would not offer any kind of refund and our group asked to be let off at an island and we took a ferry back to our hotel. They ripped us off our money and they clearly do not care for their customers experience. I would not recommend this hotel to any of my friends/family and would urge anyone reading this to look elsewhere.
