Location is fantastic. Rooms are a little tired (bed was pretty rubbish). Pool was nice, service good.
Favourite hotel in Cairns due to location. Walking distance to most spots in the main part of the city. Depending on the room, you can get great views of the marina and out to sea. Customer service has always been excellent and I have stayed here more tgen 5 times over the years. Room service food always hits the spot. I have only stayed in the executive rooms so not sure what the other rooms are like. Only negatives would be paid parking and room can be on the expensive side.
Great location near the water and along the boardwalk. Tons of restaurants nearby. Awesome bathrooms and towels. Salt water pool is a plus.
Wow, what a surprise. While I was aware of the hotel and its fantastic location, what I wasn't aware of was the quality of the staff. Concierge Graeme is top notch as were all of the team in North Bar and Restaurant! Very well trained and personable. Our room was clean and well maintained. We will be back!
Met friends for drinks at North Bar. Great location (not too loud so you can't hear the conversation). Staff very friendly and professional
Well located hotel on the marina, near the start of the esplanade. Nice staff and very helpful tour booking desk. Room was decently sized with a pretty sizable ensuite.
Shangri La Cairns is right on the Marina so is extremely close to where you catch your boat out to the Great Barrier Reef. Rooms are spacious, they have an outdoor pool, sufficient gym and is above a shopping centre (albeit a crappy one), some good bars and restaurants and extremely close proximity to the lagoon and main esplanade.
Staff were polite and extremely efficient. They let us have a late check out which we appreciated. We were on a level where the conference rooms are so it is a bit weird to walk to your rooms when conference guests are around but that's just the layout. The hotel is considered 5 star and feels like that in the lobby but it does feel a little dated overall. The hotel has a good bar with happy hour and buffet breakfasts at the restaurant. It was so so busy, they needed an extra hand to help the chef with the eggs/french toast (the chef was doing a great job considering). They also need another staff member to fill up the food options. I also think proper coffee should be included, not an extra cost.
For locality and niceness of staff, you can't go past this, but a few things let down the score.
FYI you need to pay for any extra people in the room. Even for a room with double beds, you have to pay for 3 or 4 people if there's extra.
Large 4.5 star resort hotel on the Cairns marina waterfront. Spacious rooms, good service, good conference facilities. Health club gym small but well appointed. Decor starting to date a little
Garden and ocean facing rooms much nicer than the parking lot view. Upgrade without a fee when available. Beautiful gardens, clean pool great for lounging. Excellent breakfast, though not cheap ($20 for guests, sometimes included in room). Great location, especially if booking a reef tour with any of dozens of companies.
Great location being out on the pier, a little away from the main town area which I think is a good thing. The hotel lobby has a beautiful zen style decor but the rooms don't match the lobby. Rooms were a little run down, beds not that comfortable, bathroom could do with a renovation. Bit of a disappointment for a 5 star internally renowned resort
Gorgeous room with great views over the marina; lovely service from friendly staff. Only minutes walk from many shops & restaurants, the location is ideal! Definitely making the most of the complimentary drinks & canapés in the Club lounge during the evenings!
Perfect room, perfect location and perfect sun rise!
Nice and warm staff, great room and services. Should stay here in the next visit!
Perfect location. Great amenities. Adjacent to a shopping centre where you can easily get foods & drinks. A short walk to grocery store. A stone throw away from the marina. Free wifi. Clean & spacious room. Warm service.
Very dated rooms. Smell of mould. No tongs for the ice in room. Uncomfortable bed. Having stayed at many Shangri-La s overseas I love their club sangas. This however was a disappointing one. Won't ever come back here.
