Where to start. I went to WMMC ER for abdominal pain around 12:30am one night, after waiting 2 hours in an empty ER I was finally taken back to have a CT scan done, which I then had to wait another 2 hours to get the results of. Prior to getting the results, a Dr. came in letting me know that they were going to be discharging me shortly as the CT scan did not show anything. 30 minutes later I was being moved into a patient room to have surgery later that morning for a procedure that could have been life threatening if left undone. The general surgery Dr. was phenomenal, but when it came to billing this place is a disaster. As a full time college student I received an original bill of $22,000 as they had billed me for inpatient services and other items that I had not received during my outpatient procedure at WMMC. I went into financial aid the month I received my first bill to discuss payment, and this is when they discovered the errors. I was planning to set up payment plans and to apply for financial assistance as there was no way I, as a full time student, could pay a medical bill that large. Before I could make any payments on the account they had to correct all billing charges, re-send it to insurance and I was instructed to come in a month later to get everything set upa month later I returned and was denied financial assistance due to having insurance (even though I was still left with a $7,000 bill) and was expected to pay $350 a month. We finally were told that they would accept $50 a month and paid this amount monthly and we were never told that this woud have to change..fast forward TWO years, we made a call to the financial aid office, with the help of a friend who has medical billing experience, hoping to get something figured out and to get it paid off. We asked to be transferred to someone who could help us with this and had to leave a message, and unsurprisingly, we never received a call back. 3 months later we received a statement that we had an outstanding balance and notification that we would be sent to collections. When calling the financial aid office again, we were told that the original payment plan should not have been accepted and that we should have been told we needed to pay the bill off in 3 years. I called and asked, with the help of my parents, if we could pay a set amount to settle all medical bills and they denied our request. DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU DO NOT HAVE GREAT INSURANCE THAT WILL COVER A MAJORITY OF YOUR MEDICAL BILLS or have the ability to make substantial payments for the balance owed. You will NOT get any kind of financial assistance, even as a full time student. I would have gone to St. Luke's East in Lee's Summit had I known they had no desire to work with individuals who have limited finances, especially for procedures that are emergent. After talking with individuals who have had similar experiences at hospitals such as St. Luke's and North Kansas City, they were NEVER denied financial assistance for having insurance.
Took my fiancé to the ER tonight because she had fluid bulging on her knee cap. It is not a bruise, which the staff made note of, but she still in extreme pain. She was not even seen by a doctor, but rather two (2) different LPN’s. She was rushed/not cared or looked after. Never once offered her help walking (she has an extreme limp) with assistance or wheel chair/ crutches. No direction of how to help with the extreme pain, rather just given an ice pack and a good luck. Horrible staff and front desk.
Their billing is outrageous. My insurance pays 100% for lab work. They repeatedly did lab work inhouse so they could bill me after I repeatedly told them to send it to LabCorp (which they did for over 10 years) but now for some reason they can't get the billing right and want me to pay out of pocket for something my insurance covers because of their mistake.
I had my weight loss surgery  on November 25 2019 I'm so happy I got it done I am feeling wonderful and I'm able to walk. Thank you for ur heart and Fresno heart Doctor Higa was the best and his wonderful team they we're  the best
Very nice, new building. Everyone here was super friendly and helpful. Even the security guard who jacked me for taking pictures. He wanted to make sure I didn't have any people in the pictures.
Is it weird to get my first bill for an office visit from over a year ago?! Processed by insurance over a year ago!! Its a smaller amount added to a larger bill. Makes me feel like they are trying to sneak it in hoping I would go unnoticed.
Employees takes their sweet @ss time. You will be waiting in the waiting room for hours with no one checking up on you. If I could give zero stars, I would.
Had surgery on 16TH January 2018 and everyone from admission to discharge were great. I hope your blessed like me to get Marilyn Sutton a CNT on nights or Amy Myles from the cafeteria on days both went above and beyond to help me during my recovery. I would chose this hospital again thanks for the great job.
Pulmonary staff is incompetent and unprofessional. They do not answer the phone. I would leave several messages and not get a call back. Needless to say, I did not have a good experience. The doctor is great, however the staff will not call back for schedule changes and then schedule appointments without a patient knowing the time. Find another pulmonary clinic if you can. Would not recommend this clinic unless you have plenty of time to waste constantly calling and leaving messages to no end.
Brought my boyfriend here because he hurt his hand and could barely move his thumb. After he got X-rays we waited for a while. A nurse came in, wrapped it in ace rap and started to walk out. I had to ask her what was wrong because apparently she wasn't going to tell us. She goes "oh they think he just sprained it" have a nice day. Not one did a doctor come in or showed us the X-rays. We were so upset we went to a different hospital where we found out his scaphoid bone was fractured and needed a cast. So thanks warrensburg hospital for nothing. Will never return here and not paying for anything.
Every time one of my kids goes to the hospital weather for ER services or Labor and Delivery we couldn't be more happy with the great care they receive. Both my granddaughter and grandson have been born at this hospital. My daughter had several complications and never was she made to feel like she couldn't go in to be checked. The staff have always been very kind to me as well with taking her in. All of my children are grown and they still talked to me and answered my questions as well as the girls questions. My next grandson will be born in this hospital in January. Thank you to the entire staff for being so kind and caring.
I have experienced both the ER and the Express Care within the last year with my one year old. Both times that I have gone, I have received great care and very knowledgeable information from the doctor and their nurses. Being a new mom, it is very important to me that I understand my child's diagnosis and feel comfortable taking him home and watching for other symptoms that may arise. I live in Sedalia, and while it is a 25-30 minute drive, it is WELL worth it!
I feel very fortunate to have such an amazing hospital and clinics in our community. Not every "rural" community can receive care so close to home, including emergency, obstetrics, pediatrics, orthopedics and much more. I have personally received incredible care by so many here, including delivering my first child here. I couldn't have asked for better care. OB focuses on creating an environment that is best for mom and baby by allowing immediate skin-to-skin (even after a c-section), a clear c-section drape, on-site lactation consultant, beautiful rooms and incredibly caring staff. They made me feel at ease during this new experience for me and my husband. We weren't just another number. Furthermore, my friends and family have received life-saving care here. Being able to be close to my loved ones while they were receiving care really eliminated unwanted stress. Thank you to all the providers associated with WMMC! You all have impacted my life for the better.
Brought my significant other to the ER to have some pain in her side checked out and it was a very quick and easy process. The doctor and nurses were very thorough in explaining why they were taking certain tests and any possible reasoning causing the pain. We felt very informed and comfortable within the waiting room.
The hospital also has a great dining area with a comfortable atmosphere. Their menu changes everyday and includes multiple healthy conscious options. I feel lucky to have this organization available to Warrensburg and the surrounding communities.
I am honored to work for such a wonderful, caring Hospital. I personally work for our Orthopedic clinic (Western Missouri Bone and Joint). I am proud to say we have the best Orthopedic surgeons and staff. Our primary goal is for our patients and family to experience to best care they have ever experienced. Our hospital, specialty clinics, Internal Medicine and Family Practice are all equally amazing. We have a lot to offer our community and our awesome Administration is always pushing to stay ahead of the curve. Please give us the opportunity to care for you and prove ourselves to you and your family.
Western Missouri Express Care is definitely the place to go if you schedule an appointment and want to wait up to 30 minutes to be seen. We were the only ones in the lobby for a well check, and while the receptionist was nice and friendly, we weren't told that it would be a while wait. We ended up leaving after 30 minutes. We'll find another friendly office where we are worth advising of long wait time
A sublime confluence of outrageous expense and marginal competence. Do yourself a favor and pass on them if you have a choice.
Edit 12/07/16.
The above review was posted a few weeks ago to express my mild irritation with what I considered to be an exorbitant charge in the face of intransigence from WMMC. I would like to apologize for the above review, it was too charitable by several orders of magnitude.
Today we got a bill for two relatively minor outpatient procedures for my bride last summer. The bill for the room for the first procedure, that lasted around an hour wasdrum roll$7,720. The bill for the room for the second procedure, again lasting about an hour, was, you guessed it, $7,720. That is $15,440 for the room for two outpatient procedures. Words literally fail me in this case. Perfidy? Avarice? Alas, they will not serve. They are weak broth in the face of the monumental unconscionability of this institution. WMMC can justly pride itself on being the archetype, symbol and avatar of a terminally dysfunctional medical system. If I ever wind up there again I fully expect them to meet me in the emergency room with a black mask and pistol uttering the words "Stand and deliver!" Total charges of $18,597 do not include the services of the doctor whom we like.
I am at this point prepared to have my last words in life be: "Get me to St. Lukes."
I don't suggest having your kid here I had my first one at the Sedalia hospital so I thought I'd try this one for the second kid. I got there they made me wait an hour to see my contractions were getting stronger and closer together I'm not a doc but I'm pretty sure with them being every min u don't need an hour to be able to tell that. Then they gave me the iv and stabbed me in my artery in my hand which my fingers swellwed up huge from the giant bruise I had for three weeks after then they stabbed me again in the arm and got it right. By time I finally got the epidural I was already at a 8-9 so I could have just had him without one because they took so long. I got my tubes tied there the next day and it was a complete mess it took them until like 5 that evening to finally decide they were going to do it that day meanwhile I didn't get to eat for another day after I just had a kid. I had to ask them to take the baby out of the room after my surgery because I couldn't even get out of bed and walk because I was so drugged up but somehow was supposed to manage to keep feeding and taking care of my newborn. I suggest either taking leave and going to the city to have your baby or trying Bothwell which isn't impressive either but not as bad as warrensburg. Good luck!
1 star is too nice, but there's no option for 0 stars. My father unexpectedly passed away today so my mother's doctor suggested we bring my mother into the hospital due to her poor health. The doctor was concerned how my mother would hold up with the news of my father's sudden death. After 2 1/2 hours of treating my mother for a headache we finally paged the doctor again. The nurses were supposed to be monitoring her blood pressure and oxygen levels. They never reported any of this to the doctor. They told us they didn't have any beds to admit her, but suddenly within 5 minutes of speaking to the doctor 4 beds opened up. After finally telling us my mother is going to have a bed it's 3 hours later and she's still sitting in a wheelchair in the ER. This is the worst experience I've ever been a part of.
My daughter was seen there a year ago after passing out randomly and broke her nose from the fall, so she went to the ER because it was closest to ucm. They let her go and said you're slightly dehydrated, just drink more water. A few weeks after, she followed up with her primary Doctor who performed an EKG and immediately sent her to cardiology where she was scheduled to have heart surgery with a specialist a month or two later. Still to this day trying to get the ER bill sorted out because it keeps changing and then no one calls back. I'm happy to pay the real balance, but no one seems to give you the same answer.
I injured my wrist in a fall, after several hours of trying to talk myself out of going to the ER I went in to be seen, I had excellent service, both by the front desk, nurses and the doctor that I saw! I was very impressed with the care and attention that I received. It was amazing I was in and out in less than 1 hour!!! Great job!
