Great location. Awesome building. Located next to a little market. Would definitely return. Only downside was paper thin walls

Somewhat dirty feel with limited character. Price and location are redeeming factors. Common area on third floor not inviting and never saw anyone hanging out. Room musty and fellow travelers smelly. Wicker Park is easy El ride to O'Hare and downtown. $20 is pretty good deal. All facilities were operable and staff was pleasant.

The rooms were clean and spacious. We appreciated the closet in the room that allowed us to put luggage out the way. The kitchen and common area were clean and easy to use. The staff (front desk and cleaners) was very accommodating and very helpful.
The bath tubs had leftover water in a depression towards the front. It was not great but not gross. There was a line for the bathrooms around 8-10am so have to plan around that.response / report this review -

This hostel was very nice; clean and in a great neighborhood. The front desk people were more than helpful - one even searched for my boarding pass in an email to ensure I had the correct information. Common room is nice with most things you would need to cook a meal and breakfast is fairly basic - bagels w/ peanut butter, jam, margarine, and cream cheese (which was gone when we got there); some cereal with milk; and coffee and tea - enough to get you started in the morning. Beds comfortable and the staff was willing to adjust temperature in our room as much as needed. The neighborhood is really great with lots of restaurants, bars, coffee shops and other stuff to do nearby. Lots of buses and the train run near by and if you are up for an hour or more walk, you can get to the lake and downtown. Overall you can't beat the price or the neighborhood.

We were looking for something affordable in a great area of Chicago. Prices were crazy so after doing some research we found UHL. It was perfect for the two of us girls who would be spending little time actually in our "hotel room." Tim and the entire staff were so kind, welcoming and helpful. They made our trip easy! We appreciated getting to save a little but also staying somewhere in a GREAT location that was safe and clean. We loved the neighborhood and the easy access to the middle of downtown! The only things to consider were the AC didn't get very cold on a hot summer day and the rooms are quite small however the overall experience made up for both. We will certainly stay here again when we return.

Loved how trendy the inside of the hostel was. Gorgeous rooms. The towels were a huge plus as well as the sizeable lockers in the rooms. I didn't use the luggage storage but t was great to know I had the option. There are limited bathrooms, so you'll have to choose your shower time wisely. The location is perfect for venturing out during the night. Loved it and will probably book again.

We had a great time at Urban Holiday Lofts in Chicago. We loved the upstairs common room with pool table and lounge area. The room was a nice size and very affordable. The neighborhood was cute and had a lot of good restaurants and close to public transport to get to downtown.
The only things that could be improved were that the mattresses and walls were very thin so you could feel all the springs and hear everything at night.
I would highly recommend going to Urban Holiday Lofts because they were great!response / report this review -

Loved it, though expectations need to be appropriate to the fact that this is a hostel. It's true that the maintenance isn't first class but this joint is 5/5 for a hostel and close to that for a hotel when factoring in for how warm and friendly the staff is. I've paid a lot more for a lot less. The staff went above and beyond impressive to be genuinely helpful.

My experience at this hostel was decent. Accommodations are spartan but clean and well maintained. The walls are pretty thin so you may hear your neighbors talking or whatever else they're doing. There is some limited free parking in the neighborhood but it is frustrating to find a spot on a busy weekend.

Rooms are very modern, giving a city like experience. The staff was very friendly and helpful letting us know about good places in the city. Overall great experience. Only thing to consider is that there are shared bathrooms.

The location is fantastic. It's a perfectly fine and typical hostel. My complaint is that it advertises itself to be more luxurious than the average hostel, which it is not. They provide basic linens, but not what I would call "luxury" linens as listed on the website. They provide typical bunk beds that aren't particularly comfortable and no extra padding. And I thought I was getting a private en suite bathroom, but it was in a shared hallway. All fine for a hostel but I thought it would be a step up based on their website. Just prepare your expectations
