Alright stay but nothing special. Good location for downtown. Comfy bed. Poor maintenance in room. Stayed for 3 nights. I asked them to fix the light above the sink because I couldn't see to wash but this was not carried out. Overpriced overnight parking too.

The Sofia is a beautiful hotel! My room was on the small side, as you would expect for an older hotel, but beautifully decorated. The staff were very nice. I didn't take advantage of them but I noticed they have free yoga classes and walking tours of San Diego.

World class, boutique - style hotel. Place is gorgeous, clean and well thought out. The place runs like clock-work. Great Location - a 15 minute walk down to the Seaboard.
It seems prices vary quite a bit according to the days of the week.

If anyone is looking for a great deal on hotels you can check it out on HotelRaven. com Booked a room on there and they had the best rates around

I'm so endlessly grateful to this hotel for the outstanding service!

Originally I booked Sofia because of its perfect location in the middle of the downtown of San Diego. Our stay was pleasant and the staff was really friendly.

A day after we checked out I realized that I forgot my really precious jewelry in the opened safe in our room. The room was checked immediately and I was advised that my box is found and they are going to mail it back to me right away. The package has arrived and I can't be more happy to have chosen such a reliable and comfortable place for my travels.

If you want to be comfortable this is not the hotel for you. The parking is $35 a day, although they don’t tell you that until you arrive. The room was small with barely enough room to get around the bed and cramped furniture. When you want to take a shower the water pressure is a slow weak trickle and the hot water has a gadget on it that reduces the pressure even more every couple of minutes (allegedly for water conservation) when it gets to 96-98 degrees. You have to pull a cord to return your water pressure to its original trickle. The water barely ever gets warm, but the air in the room will certainly feel warm. The AC in the room is on a motion sensor and if you stop moving it shuts off. News Flashmost people stop moving when they’re trying to sleep! The room was very hot half way through our night. We asked for assistance with the water and AC problems and heard several different stories, several lies and got no real sympathy. One employee actually rolled her eyes. Look elsewhere for a comfortable nights stay.

These people go out of their way to make you feel at home, cared for, and comfortable. Helpful and friendly staff at all times. Rooms are small but clean and attractive. I had a room with a view of two streets and the harbor in the distance. Very nice. I appreciated WiFi in the lobby. Concierge had good restaurant suggestions. Only minor complaints: could use a larger portion of the chicken Alfredo in the restaurant, and I found the lobby a bit cold, a frequent complaint for women in many places. Too much AC, its not just the Sofia that is guilty. Other than that, a perfect stay. Good value and a perfect location: walk to different areas or catch bus. Valet parking is high but you can find a lot a bit farther away for less, or park on the street after 6 pm.

My wife and I loved this hotel for a weekend getaway, and we hope to come again. Historic Pickwick Hotel was completely gutted and renamed the Sofia a decade ago. Fantastic eclectic decor, charming character, good use of room space. Kind, helpful staff. Great location--close to water, restaurants, trolley stop, baseball stadium. A real gem!

Really nice rehab of a classic hotel and not too expensive. Not super fancy but clean and has character. The remodel is stylish while keeping a lot of the classic charm. Would be nice if it had a pool, considering there's still a $12 daily amenities charge.

The staff was very friendly. The room was very nice and cozy. Location of hotel is perfect if going to the gaslamp district. Parking you have to pay for but otherwise next to the hotel. Would definitely go there again.

We don't like to drive in busy cities that we aren't familiar with. No need whatsoever to rent a car because everything is accessible by transit. We come every year and the staff are always helpful and quick to smile.
    The rooms are always clean.
We have absolutely no complaints and will continue to come here every year.

Staff was great, very helpful and friendly. Had a drink in the bar with a very friendly bartender. My husband ordered the room with 2 double beds??? (I know right.) Very tight room for 3 people. The sheets were part of duvet set and he was tangled up all night. Fire alarm went off at 5:30 in the morning. Be aware of extra parking charge $36 a day. Not a cheap room but we were right downtown.

I stayed here for two days midweek, a combination of business and pleasure. What an incredible place. They have a housekeeping needed signal button and a do not disturb signal button in the room..no need to hang anything on the door. TV in every room, including the bathroom. Excellent and quiet climate control. Frig, coffee, mini bar. Great room furnishings and a quiet room. A separate toilet area from the rest of the bathroom. Housekeeping was frankly unbelievablethey meticulously cleaned and arranged everything just soclearly to a high standard. A large room, with very comfortable beds. A high end restaurant, a mid range, and a grab and go all available.
