This is the most special Best Western, nestled in among giant buildings in San Diego, but maintaining a cozy atmosphere. Staff is always so warm and welcoming and go out of their way for you. The TV is the best with two Hallmark channels plus TCM along with many other great channels. I am physically disabled and stay in the room for the handicapped, which is a perfect, efficient set up. This is the place to stay whenever I am in San Diego!
Great location! Easy walk to downtown and close to the highway for driving. No frills here, just a great place to stay with good breakfast and easy access to all of SD! The rooms aren't huge, but they are everything one needs to crash in a comfy bed. I had a great stay and felt very welcome and accommodated for!
The staff There are the nicest people I've ever had the privilege to meet they went out of there ways to make sure that you enjoy your stay with them VERY HELPFUL
Olga was and is the nicest person who I've ever had the privilege to meet with,,,BUT ALL THE STAFF WAS MORE THAN HELPFUL THEY WENT BEYOND THE NORMAL TO HELP WITH ANYTHING THAT THEY COULD.
IF I WERE TO VISIT THE SAN DIEGO AREA AGAIN THIS IS WHERE I WOULD STAY 😀😀😀This is for The employees. 🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷
This hotel is a little hidden gem in downtown San Diego. Quaint and decorated with flowers, it's a nice break from the tall buildings of downtown.
Pros: *Very friendly staff; receptionists, housekeeping & kitchen staff, everyone is wonderful.
*Great complementary breakfast; nice variety & items get refilled promptly.
*Nice rooftop terrace.
*Nice room amenities; coffee & coffeemaker, blowdryer, lots of outlets, iron & ironing table.
Cons: *Although efficient, but rooms are small, we were 4 people in a 2-queen-bed room & it was difficult to move sometimes.
*The beds & mushy pillows were uncomfortable, adding to that, they don't have rollaway beds (because of the small rooms).
*The A/C unit is dated & inappropriately located (under the window to the side of one bed), so the person sleeping next to it can get very cold while the person in the other bed gets hot.
I really hope the management (or owner) would pay attention to the problems, because the place is great & has more potential & some of the problems can be fixed with little tweaks & make a big difference.
Good Value. Rooms are quite dark, but are clean and tidy and the staff are friendly. The breakfast is a nice bonus. Good value overall.
It's a very quiet nice place downtown San Diego, easy to get to anything you want to buy walking. Very nice people running the hotel. Rooms are small but that's okay. No microwave I miss my microwave. But I will stay there again when I need to be downtown San Diego
The Best Western Cabrillo Garden Inn is this cute little two-story hotel in the middle of downtown San Diego. It's got a peaceful, quiet vibe that makes you relax the minute you drive into the tiny parking lot. Loved it!
Staff was very courteous and professional. Cleaning staff immediately returned a charger I had left behind. The room was very clean but the bathroom looked a little bit worn, which did not really detract from the stay. Most of the rooms would probably not experience this but we had a room that faced "A" Street where traffic noise could be heard when you opened the window.
This place was amazing for my family. We have 2 young ones, ages 2 and 5. I was very ill and my husband was in a volleyball tournament. Even after we checked out they gave me special permission to park my car there and let me use their staff bathroom. With me being sick they let us in the breakfast room for hot tea and let my children eat cereal. It was super sweet and I felt like I was treated very well. It is great walking distance to Balboa Park and the Padres stadium.
This is a sweet property if you want to stay in Downtown San Diego. There is parking on site and it feels very secure. The staff is the best!
Good location - walkable to downtown food & drink.
Room was clean, bed comfortable. Bathroom is small, but clean and shower is hot.
Staff at check-in and check-out very pleasant and helpful.
I love to stay in that traditional Motel in the middle of San Diego. Personal is exceptionally friendly. The rooms are clean and decorated. The best is the roof top terrace to hang out after a day in meeting rooms !
This hotel is located close to the Gaslamp district, but just far enough away (about three short blocks) that the area is very quiet. It is an old place, but well kept up and attractive with potted plants galore. The staff is very professional and always pleasant. The bed was great and the towels as soft as I have had it very high end hotels. The parking is adjacent the rooms, unlike many hotels in the area where valet parking is required. Turn left out of the parking lot, travel about 400 yards and turn left again. This takes you directly to Balboa Park and the San Diego Zoo.
