Toilet paper behind the curtains. Heater didn't work properly. Called desk. Did someone would be up to look at it. We left at check out. Nobody showed up. Elevator didn't work. Had to walk up 4 flights of stairs. Light bulb in bathroom was held in by aluminum foil and fell out in sink. Shower heads were mounted almost to ceiling. Hot water ran out. It might have been a great hotel at one point but it did not live up to my expectations. Staff at night was super friendly and accommodating. They are the only reason we didn't leave and ask for refund to go somewhere else.

I cannot say enough great things about the property. The food at 88 was delicious as well as their cocktails. The building is full of historical charm and my husband and I enjoyed the intimate setting of this property. We visited the Spa, swam in the lap pool, walked the grounds, and took the paranormal tour. While this hotel has smaller rooms and a tiny elevator, we were able to appreciate the history of the building's original design. The staff was friendly and helpful and we enjoyed a complimentary wine tasting with the Manager. There are also multiple restaurants and activities within walking distance. I would highly recommended this hotel for a long romantic weekend or anyone looking to relax and learn some history. Our stay here exceeded my expectations and was a welcoming surprise.

Had a great time. The grotto was a great experience but by far my favorite part of the trip was Jay and the ghost tour. He's an excellent speaker and obviously loves what he does. In fact, everyone that works at The Elms seems to love what they do. I would definitely recommend this place to family/friends.

Wow! We didn’t even know what a gem we had so close to KC! We went to the Elms Hotel and Spa for our second wedding anniversary to get away for a day and relax. Our stay was perfect and we both feel so rejuvenated! The rooms themselves were clean and the bed and pillows were so comfortable. The staff was very cordial and the customer service was outstanding! The 88 restaurant had great food and cocktails; they must have quite an outstanding chef there as well. The hot tubs and pools were clean, relaxing, and the surrounding architecture is beautiful!! There is also a courtyard with a gazebo which is stunning as well. Don’t even get me started on our experience at the spa—it was awesome. We got to spend two hours in the grotto which included a separate underground hot tub, sauna, 2 steam rooms, and a cold plunge shower. The massages we had were amazing and the masseuses were attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. We had such a great time and it felt like a mini vacation which was exactly what we needed!!

Fantastic stay at The Elms this weekend! Great laid back place ; someone else said it best that it has a Dirty Dancing vibe. Hotel is beautiful and open with old tile and stone. Rooms are spacious, clean, and beds so comfy after a night in the lounge, the grounds, or the pool. The pool is where the action is on a sunny Sunday. Best stay is to stay at the hotel and enjoy the amenities.

My husband and I had a good experience here, but honestly I was expecting more considering they "just completed a $20-million renovation" (per their website). It seems a bit run down for a $20 million investment. We got an 'upgrade' to the Al Capone room and although larger than the average room, it seemed a bit dated. And the carpet could definitely use a cleaning or replacement. It did have a great view of grounds though. However, we LOVED the spa & grotto! Even though the grotto is an extra charge, we would go back just for that experience. Although we didn't use it, they had a very nice gym as well. We ate dinner at 88 in the hotel and the food was fantastic! Given the local history it was still a great experience overall, but I wish they would spruce up the rooms a little!

I'm a repeat visitor because this place is fabulous! It's beautiful, affordable, and unique! We used all the available facilities: spa, grotto, indoor pool, outdoor hot tub, room service, tavern, and restaurant. Only negative comment is that our suite was right above the dance floor and there was a big wedding taking place. The constant base was annoying. However, it won't stop me from going back!!

Great place to stay. Staff was friendly and helpful. Room was spacious and beds comfortable. Pillows were really firm. Room had a slight smell. Not bad, not good, just a noticeable smell. On site restaurant was good. A variety of foods and price points available. The spa was the highlight. Great check in service. The treatments were delivered by talented therapists. Would come again.

This was my second time visiting The Elms and I was a little underwhelmed. My husband and I went for two days after our wedding and the stay was just okay. The hotel did upgrade our room which was very nice but the room we stayed in wasn't very clean. The carpets were very dirty and you could tell the cleaning staff did a quick job after the last people that stayed. I had signed us up for the romantic package but when we got to our room nothing was set up. Prices had also gone up on everything since my last stay. We wanted to use the outdoor hot tub but the water was maybe lukewarm. Not nearly enough for a cold October night. For what we paid I wasn't super impressed. The ghost tour and food at the 88 restaurant were both good!

Family wedding held here. Staff was wonderful. Rooms were very nice. Walking distance to downtown with restaurants and shops. Beautiful grounds and pools.

Loved the spa. Room was nice but really needed a more thorough cleaning. Cobwebs and dead bugs around the windows and on the dull. Dusty table lamps and behind the nightstand. Bathroom floor needed better scrubbing. Mold in shower. Countertop over mini fridge needed to scoured. The room was quiet. Bed was comfy.

I had my wedding at The Elms Hotel and Spa and we also stayed there for our wedding night. The gazebo is very large and beautiful no matter what season it is, however I had my wedding in the fall and it was great. The Regent Ballroom was so elegant with the stone work and and fireplace. The service was good but my weekend was extremely busy so they were being pulled in several directions. Overall I would recommend The Elms Hotel and Spa for any occasion.

Very enjoyable stay. The hotel has a very historic feel to it. Walking around it takes you back into time. Very friendly staff, comfortable rooms, great restaurant on site for dinner and breakfast. It feels small inside because of when it was built. I would have given it 5 stars except the carpet in our room was stained.

It's historic and located in the town I grew up in, that was the reason I stayed there. It is "neat" with all the history and old elegance in the lobby and on the exterior of the building. The rooms are just nice, not great or elegant just nice. They are not technology friendly. If you travel with multiple devices bring a power strip of some sort. Outlets are in short supply. There is no closet or dresser it's more of a wardrobe and some shelves beside the bed. It's fine for me but for people who like to unpack the space is very limited. We didn't eat at the restaurant but the coffee in the cafe was good. Parking is also very limited. During the week we had no issues, on Friday night we had to park in the street. I wasn't thrilled about being a paying customer and parking on the street. The pool outside is very nice and our kids had a blast swimming. We will be back because my parents live there and it's fun to have a pool available.

More like a 2.5. The room was clean but smelled musty and it was a very long walk to our room from the elevator. The bed was very uncomfortable and there was a HUGE bug on one of the curtains. My husband booked us for a spa package and we enjoyed the couples facials, couples massages but the scented bath was just thatwe were taken to separate rooms and it was just a glorified bathtub with jets and some scent added to the water. We were in different rooms. That was a total waste of time and money when you have use of the Grotto. The Grotto is the only reason there were any stars at all really. The Grotto was very relaxing and since we were there in the middle of the week it was not very crowded at all. Next time we visit the area we will just do the Grotto and skip the overpriced, musty rooms with really uncomfortable beds.

Everything but the room was great. Like for example they don't give you cups or anything, and there are no vending machines. But other than that it's really pretty and fun to stay at. Would come here again

The Elms is a wonderful place to stay. The building has history and charm. The employees here are great! Accommodations are above exceptional. The rooms are quiet and very clean. The way the rooms are furnished and set up just adds to the charm. There's even a 'Ghost Tour' to go with the history of this beautiful building. That with all of the modern accommodations you could need, the fine dining, and beautiful scenery and surroundings, makes The Elms a place I would definitely stay in again and highly recommend.

Amazing place! Beautiful grounds, refreshing outdoor pool and hot tub, exceptional service. Small room that was quaint and comfortable. The bed was to die for. And the SPA was worth every cent!

The hotel has so much history and character. We really enjoyed the restaurants and spa . The employees were very helpful, especially those that had been there for a while. They were especially accommodating. Pam, met us at the front door and welcomed us. She was great and full of wonderful information about the hotel and town history. THANK YOU PAM! (You should train some of the young girls at the front desk .
