It's nice but very old. The building is old, the elevator is old, the feel of the hotel is old. They renovated it as best they can. Great bed. Very small rooms, bathroom and shower. 24 hours restaurant and room service! Good perk

Price was decent. Staff is friendly. They have a neat rooftop area with good views. Stars are for those points and that's about it. Really old, really noisy, and they don't have comforters - just those scraggly old fleece blankets and sheets. Bed wasn't exactly comfortable and the pillows awful.

I love, love, love this hotel! My oldest son and I went to San Diego to see my youngest son graduate from the Marine corp. I can not speak highly enough of our time there. Every single person was genuinely nice - not because they had toit was just their nature. I loved the old school elevator! And the rooms were great! The bed and pillows were like sleeping in a dream. I can't thank Sydney, Freddy, Liz and Katheryn (and others but forgot names) enough for their hospitality. I'm already planning a trip to go back in April. Thank you all so much for making this trip such a memorable experience. It was truly a blessing!

We spent a 3 day at the hotel. Its old but clean. The elevators are very old school but efficient. We are timeshare people so staying in a hotel doesn't happen two often. I would go back. Be sure to eat at the restaurant and if you are hungry try the massive burrito. It is hug. Location is great plenty of restaurants and bars within walking distance. Light rail is close too

The room wasn't too big and unfortunately no window could let you get a bit of a sight of San Diego - one was wall up and the other overlooked the inside of the building. However the stay was good, very smooth check in and check out procedures, thumbs up for the valet parking as there's little place to park in the centre of San Diego. Very good place to enjoy the heart of the city if you're staying very little time.

one elevator broken, the other one rather slow; everything rather old, not always in good shape; room service not perfect. people say San Diego is expensive - bur one should still get something in return for your money.

nice view from roof top, though.

Service from the staff is great. Everyone is friendly and ready to help with a good attitude. Location is prime and right in the middle of everything, walking distance. The hotel itself is a little dated and showing its age. Our room is fairly small and leaves a little but to be desired. Would recommend to anyone who wants to be in the middle of everything and isn't worried about the room itself.

Hotel is conveniently located in the Gas Lamp district and is very affordable for a downtown hotel. The elevators are old, slow, and small and the rooms are a bit small as well. However, the hotel is very clean and staff goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome. The rooftop deck -- where you can take your own food and beverages, including alcohol -- is awesome with great views of downtown. We arrived after a cross-country flight that left the east coast at 6am and arrived in San Diego at 8:20am. When we checked in just after 9:00am, I said I know it is way too early to check in, but we'd like to store our bags. The front desk manager immediately called housekeeping and asked them to clean our room first and said it would be ready by 9:45 -- and it was! Highly recommend this property. Two great places among many nearby: Coffee & Art and Hub Market and Deli (sandwiches are great and HUGE!). They also sell beer and wine.

Old school hotel. Very different. Built in 1914 but still has everything a hotel needs. Restaurant in hotel is pricey but the food is worth it. Recommend it for couples but not for young groups of friends. It is close to a lot of good bars and clubs

For the location of the hotel I really cannot complain but the rooms are small, yet cozy. AC worked very well and overhead fan as well. Room comes with 2 large bottles of water, nice addition. Shower and restroom is small but clean and enough space to handle your business.

There is a Valet option for $37/night. Good deal because you cannot park overnight anywhere near the hotel.

Look for a moderate deal and this hotel is worth it.

If you can get past the weird smell in the elevator & how out dated everything is in the hotel, it's good. Location for the price is great, everything was within walking distance. Rooms do not have a mini fridge or a pool, that would've been nice to have since we were planning on buying a few lunch meats to save $$$ on not having to go out for every meal.

Staff is okay. They have a free airport shuttle service from the airport to the hotel. I felt very rushed whenever talking/asking questions to staff members. They charge your whole card right when you check in, most hotels I stay at, I am just charged a deposit then at checkout charged for everything. Kind of put a dent on my credit card since so many transactions were back & fourth on canceling. Also the deposit fee is $30 a night if you use a card, but $100 if you wanna use cash. We would've liked to use cash & not put everything on the card, but obviously that would've been more expensive. Not sure why using cash is more expensive, wouldn't the hotel want the physical money instead of putting it on a credit card that can easily not go through all the way.

There is a restaurant/bar connected to the hotel that is open 24hrs which is awesome!

Highly recommended using the "The Free Ride" app (its blue with like a leaf on it), they will take you anywhere within a 3mile radius of Gaslamp/Downtown area.

Overall, this is the most run down hotel I've stayed at, then again I'm use to staying at more up to date hotels. It's just a place to sleep & shower at so it's not too bad if you're on a budget, but I don't think I'd stay here again. I just felt gross and dirty & would rather stay at a place that at least has a mini fridge in the room & a pool.

If possible I would give -5 Stars! The worst and dirtiest Hotel I have ever been in the last years. Dust and dirt on every surface. Tooth pickers under the bed. Hairs from somebody else in the bathroom. and so on. Incapable stuff for your pleasure. Sleep anywhere else!

Service was great. The bed was really cozy and the room was nice. I appreciated the extra water in the room. My room was a little dirty - there were some weird black hairs or fibers all over the desk - but that was all. The elevators are quaint, but honestly pretty annoying if you have multiple items of luggage. I would be nice if you can prop the gate and door open while you enter and exit, and then close everything before the elevator moves. Overall was a good experience and I would stay there again.

Free airport shuttle, really friendly & helpful staff & I was upgraded to a 2 bedroom room at no charge! It has an older feel, but it's charming & in no way run down. The restaurant downstairs is good & 24 hour No complaints!
