Mayo Clinic is a scam. I've had two loved ones reach out for help and after weeks of miscommunication and wrong info they were both told Mayo didn't know how to treat them or where to put them. Waste of time.
Be very careful with what the reps say. We were told that the current insurance had to be cancelled and that it would have to be paid out of pocket. Then we were told that it couldn't be paid out of pocket and that patients had to have specific insurance. Then we were told that it could be paid out of pocket and the original insurance did not need to be cancelled.
Worthless.
They shouldn't be allowed to even market themselves as practicing and specializing in treating difficult cases.response / report this review -

I've been to this hospital two times as a patient and once as a visitor. The staff, nurses and doctors I've interacted with have all been pleasant. This is a top notch facility. I felt like I was trying to be upsold on getting an x-ray during one of my stays as a patient. It's definitely something that I feel I am nitpicky about, but I really felt as if the approach was somewhat off. Overall, an excellent hospital with great staff.

I used Mayo until I turned 65 and liked the doctors. Mayo over tests and over charges for testing. We all think the tests are necessary but sometimes the doctor doesn't even know what the tests are for. The over testing creates extra deductible. Both my wif and I had tests we thought were covered. They were but mayo charges sometimes 3x the amount so patient is stuck with a grand or 2 in bills. We went on auto pay $50 a month to pay off. Our credit card was compromised and we were issued a new one. Instead of contacting us about the payment not going through they turned our bill into collections. We are finished with Mayo. I can't believe they receive tax exempt status.

Mayo advertises that 88% of patients leave with a new or refined diagnosis. Unfortunately, I'm on one of the 12% that came to (supposedly the best place in the world) Mayo for some answers on an unknown neurological issue I've been dealing with for months and left with an "I'm sorry" from the doctors.
It started out very well. The staff was friendly and seemed genuinely concerned about my condition (I later found out they weren't at all) and I was seen very quickly by the doctor. I provided them my records pertaining to this issue for review and that was it. They came back and said "We agree with the other place." No imaging, no testing (aside from a small blood draw which I never got the results from). The other place was three months ago and I'm no doctor, but a lot can change in three months. They paid no regard to this. Meanwhile, I still live in excruciating pain every day and walk with extreme difficulty on a cane at 22 years old and Mayo wouldn't give me the time of day. I even drove up from Tucson, only to have my time wasted and walk out in no better position than I came in. I could have learned more from my dog and saved the trip.response / report this review -

The doctors and nurses are the most professional individuals ever. My nurse coordinator gets things done quickly and automatically without reminder. She is Superwoman. I've been with them for over a year and I'm sad to go back to my PCP. They are absolutely amazing!

I could do a commercial for them. 😂 I love everything about Mayo. Best Drs, nurses, staff! Caring, compassionate, LOVE the team approach. They put your mind at ease, make you laugh, obviously everyone loves their job and it shows. I have had such an amazing experience, my sister in law is now going there with her complicated case.

The ER was fast and the room in 4 west nice. The staff where kind and listened to all my complaints and seemed truly concerned about my situation. Not only did they treat me for what is happening now they provided a plan to help me in the future with any recurring pain I am truly impressed with the mentality of providing a long term fix instead of covering with medication and with this facilities hospitality.

My family was traveling through Phoenix when during our first night my child had an Asthma attack. At 430 in the morning I liked the reviews of Mayo ER, so Mayo was my choice to take my 6 yo. The staff was extremely phenomenal beginning with Juan and Dr. Kelly (even Danielle in registration) was just as amazing. If you have to visit the ER, I highly recommend Mayo. I am still in the parking lot and felt an urgent need to review them.

Amazing hospital! My mom was in town and had to go in for emergency surgery and the Mayo did an outstanding job. They helped with the financial nightmare and made our stay very comfortable.

Extremely bad experience..my 5 month old son had a fever of 102, I gave him Tylenol and took him to their emergency room..when they took his temperature it seemed normal but still they decided to poke and prod him.. they tried to take a urine sample using catheter which was awful because the nurse doing it had no clue what he was doing..he did the same thing with blood sample and poked my baby 3 times without successfully drawing blood..then they decided to get an X-ray and the X-ray tech had no idea how to handle such a small baby so he made my baby cry some more.. after all this they wanted to take urine sample again using a catheter and this time the doctor checked his bladder and made sure there was urine but the stupid nurse was still not able to get it..i had to watch all this in horror as my baby kept yelling in pain looking at me helplessly..finally they put a bag on him to get a urine sample.not sure why they couldn't do that after the first failed attempt..after all this they discharged him without prescribing any antibiotics..overall it was an extremely traumatic experience..i just can't get the image of my baby crying helplessly and looking at me while 3-4 people held him down out my head

The best! They are so loving and caring. Through my surgery they were fantastic. Through my ER visit and then my hospital admission they were great. I have only experienced genuine caring and concern from every employee I have encountered. They even were so helpful and concerned about my husband and mother when they came to visit me in the hospital. Just amazing.

Been In hospitals all around the country and they exceed far beyond anywhere I've ever been. They've saved my life three times in the last year when other hospitals would have let me die. It's a whole person Focus not about the money you don't feel like a number here you feel like a person. The doctors come in how are you how are your family give you a hug before they even start talking about the medical issues. Love this place would recommend it to anybody especially for a transplant number one in the country.

Today 2/2/17 i saw Dr. Fletcher in Neuro radiology along with his assistant or nurse Peter? That portion gets the 5 stars because they made a scary experience into a more manageable one. They worked around my disability and pain and kept me informed the whole time as well as asked me if I was okay throughout the whole procedure. I rated 3 and what could of made it better was if the technician in CT would have walked me back to the lobby instead of making me find it on my own through the maze after my procedures made me feel uncoordinated. Last is radiology, during my time there they touched a painful spot on me and I flinched, hurled over, and started to cry and as I did that the huge lady technician was yelling at me to stop moving and stand straight instead of ask me if I was okay and needed help.
