At 515pm December 15 2017 I checked into the E.R for a infection in a prior surgical site . The registration employees and the Nurses were top notch. But now the Dr.that seen me should "NOT" be allowed to deal with the public! So I am laying in bed in really bad pain waiting to meet my Dr. She comes in and introduces herself and she knew my name and moments later she looks at me and says so are you still shooting? Uhhhh What? I say I am not a junkie! And where did this opinion come from because she had admitted that she had not seen my chart yet. I think I may need to take this to a higher authority because the bias the hospital will have on such actions. P.S you have my number on file feel free to call. Sincerely Karl Allen Spratt

I had moved to Phoenix about 2 months into my pregnancy and had to pick a hospital to deliver at. I chose Banner Good Sam and I completely regret it. Do not get me wrong the nursing staff were great! Kourtney, Alicia, Megan, Katie to name a few, but during the delivery the way the situation was handled was so stressful to the point where I never want to have another baby again. When I got to 10 cm and ready to push about 15 people (nurses,doctors,students) came rushing in the room all crowding around me. I wasn’t even able to have my mom next to me, which was very important. They told me the baby’s heart rate was dropping and needed to get her out, might have to do a C-section. Which I was already at 10cm I don’t know why they wanted to cut into me. It was just a mess. Nobody ever asked me for permission to have students watch my delivery. It was just horrible. I know they were students because they were just in the room observing. Maybe processes can be changed so another delivering mother doesn’t have to experience that.

Scheduling surgery has been a joke; the scheduler has been away for atleast a week and my family doctor had to pressure them and actually scheduled surgery for us. Note:my family doc doesn't even work at this complex. Surgery is scheduled for this coming Monday; we got a phone call yesterday telling us that the entirety of our bill will be due TODAY. Seriously?!? Less than 24 hr notice, otherwise they will cancel surgery. We have a great insurance policy, and have to pay UP FRONT for a necessary procedure, and of course there are no payment options. Absolutely ludicrous. After this experience we will not use Banner again, and will be voicing our concerns to our insurance provider.

We’re from South Africa and although we are super patriotic and love our country, living in Phoenix and needing to find a hospital for our delivery was important.
We fell in love with the staff at Banner. They are all highly professional but kind and friendly and overall just downright amazing.
It’s scary being in a country where you have no family but they made us feel at home and nothing was ever an effort- they were all incredible. They will always be our first choice in the future and we thank them for making our delivery such a wonderful experience.
The facilities too are top notch! Great hospital and people.response / report this review -

We are very grateful to the ER, especially to Dr. Z. His patience, expertise, kindness and professionalism was very much appreciated. The staff was very thorough and professional. I can't imagine how difficult their jobs are. We were sent home with confidence that comprehensive care was given to our son and with clear instructions for follow-up care. Thank you for all that you do.

I called a doctor near me for a chest pain. She asked me to go to ER. Banner University Medical Center ER took me in the room and put me on the EKG, blood tests as soon as I finished writing my name. They did not even see my ID or insurance card at that point. They did several other tests after three hours. Good manners. Fast treatment. Thank you!

Worst hospital I have ever been to. Had shoulder surgery on May 3, 2017. Orthopedic surgeon was awesome. However, the anesthesiologist was extremely rude. When I told her that I am allergic to a certain type of anethesia, she said I had to have it. When I woke up from the surgery, I was vomitting, and had my heart stop twice in the operating room. Do not EVER email the person who responds to these reviews! I don't think this person is real!

I had spent 2 months in this hospital. Nursing was Excellent, responses to my bedside calls were a 1 to 2 minute wait. Nursing assistants, however were a different story. With the majority professional in manner, there were those who were busy talking about their personal lives and gossiping about their co-workers, either at the nurse's station or in my room. I went through 7 surgeries in this time. This is the time where nurses are instructed not to give water (by the surgery staff). These nurses are following DOCTOR'S ORDERS. I was so uncomfortable and my mouth was completely drybut that is the protocol, when you go into trauma surgery.
Some nurses assistants wore too much perfume, which made my stomach turn.
The food was okay, I had a protein diet closely watched by my doctors. The chicken noodle soup was delicious.

Fast forward1 year later.
I am coming back to Banner University Hospital to have stomach reconstruction. I didn't mention how sharing a room was, and the noise I encountered one year ago. On one surgery floor, I shared a room with a woman that had FOUR ADULTS AND TWO CHILDREN IN THE ROOM I shared. I WILL NOT TOLERATE THIS SITUATION AGAIN. The nursing assistants AGAIN, told these people that it was OKAY TO COLLECTIVELY VISIT THIS PATIENT. When you are tired and you need sleep after enduring surgery, THE LAST THING YOU WANT TO HEAR IS A LARGE GROUP OF PEOPLE talking all at once, in a foreign language. The kids were restless, of coursethey are kidshandling all of the equipment in the room.response / report this review -

I had an emergency Double By-Pass at this hospital preformed by Dr. Kevin Brady. I was very scared but Dr Brady made me feel safe. He told me that he does these all the time. His bedside manner was calming and confident. He was awesome. The staff here at the hospital were outstanding. I actually hated to leave because they treated me so well. But because I was doing so well I was able to leave after 3 days. I can't say enough praise about the staff and service. They took excellent care of me and were very attentive to my every need. I never had to wait for anything. Thank you!

Yesterday had cyst removed. Everyone was taking care of me. I feel especial, the surgery went well.
Thank you very much to Dr. Nicole Mahnert all the Assitant of her, The Nurses Anna, Adriana, the lady with blond short hair (sorry forgot ur name) and Tasha whose the one who takes care of my billing to get my surgery done. I was admitted 5 days ago for a spinal cord tumor removal surgery with Dr Willis. He and the staff in the neuro Dept are absolutely awesome. Totally caring and compassionate. Very knowledgeable and have excellent job ethics. Such a great team and a true blessing to have taken care of me and helping me get passed this. Nurse Tammy, your the best 😊

My Father was admitted into the hospital (ICU) almost 2 weeks ago for an aortic dissection at Banner. His blood pressure was high and they were trying to get it under control. At first they said they were going to have to do open heart surgery then later changed their mind saying that they felt that his chances were better to wait and control his blood pressure. After being in there a few days they noticed he was also having problems with his kidneys and decided to do an ultrasound which they were suppose to do in the morning and didn't end up doing it until the next day in the afternoon and then decided to put a catheter in him and drained almost 2 gallons of urine off of him , it took them over a week to figure this out. and he felt much better besides what was going on with his heart. 2 days after this he started feeling bad again and I personally talked to the Drs and nurses asking them if it was possible that his urine had built back up again, they said he was fine! So a couple days later they moved him out of ICU and just continued to regulate his blood pressure, during this whole time he kept having fevers, they would give him Tylenol and that was it. I asked them why he kept getting a fever and they said they weren't sure. So today they released him from the hospital. With a fever, with back pain, never having addressed his kidney problem, never trying to fix or help with the situation, it has been a week since they had drained all that urine off of him!! Praise God that my Dad is a veteran and so he went to the VA to get his scripts filled , the procedure there is that you have to be seen in the ER to be able to fill your scripts from somewhere else, the drive is only 15 mins apart. And when the VA did his vitals his temp was 101.7, they couldn't believe they had released my dad under these conditions, having a fever and being septic!! This is very serious!! So the VA had him transported by ambulance right back to Banner. I truly pray to a God that no one else has to go through a situation like this with their loved one. I might be in Florida but that will not stop me from getting the best attorney money can buy and holding everyone accountable!!!!! This is clear negligence! You have a vascular team in place there, why ignore such a serious situation!?!

My daughter was taken to Good Sam because she is a dialysis patient and Banner has only a couple of places that provide it. She was incoherent and had high blood sugars. She was placed in Observation in a room that smelled like urine. After mentioning this to several people finally one nurse smelled it and had the bed removed and tossed. My daughter got a clean bed. This is unreal that a hospital would allow this. Some doctors and nurses are really nice but this hospital is highly over rated. My daughter never wants to be treated at this hospital again!
