Great public beach accessible for a fee. $5.00 per person or weeklong pass for the whole car for $50. Beach area was clean.

Restrooms and the rest of the park was well maintained and clean.

Spent a lot of time on the beach. Lots of dogs on the beach too!

Beach clean up after the recent hurricane still taking place.

We found lots of shark teeth.

This is a great park. If you're looking for a beach experience, it's beautiful. If you're looking for something about local history, don't miss the lighthouse. It's certainly worth the two dollar price to climb to the top of the lighthouse at least once. Right now, there's a section of the beach covered in dead trees from the last hurricane, which gives it a very eerie wild feeling, but there's also plenty of clear beach space if you want a more traditional experience.

Beautiful place. Camping spots are very nice and a short walk to the beach. Staff is friendly and very helpful. They are still cleaning up after Hurricane Matthew, but most camping spots are open. The negative part - mosquitoes and lots of mosquitoes!!!

1st camping trip since Hurricane Matthew last year. All camping sites on front gone along with bathhouses. Back side of campground about the same. Bathhouses updated and are really nice. Store in good shape. We were on site 112 and could see ocean from our kitchen window. Mosquitos very present. Was sad seeing the changes but glad half of campground remained. Found lots of sharks teeth. Heard campground now closed again post Irma. Still a good camping trip.

Rangers were so nice to us, and we're quick to welcome our dogs all around the park! Pet friendly is a must for us as we always travel with our dogs. Beautiful driftwood beach, pet friendly, family friendly. I really had a great time. I love that it's not super overdeveloped and you can actually connect with nature, but still have the convenience of restrooms and water/snacks available.

This was a really good beach to bring kids to. There's a lighthouse you can climb that's not too expensive, picnic areas and plenty of parking. Since it's a beach at a state park, you look back from the water and instead of buildings and hotels, it looks like a lush jungle which is cool and different than most beaches I've been to. Highly recommend if you are in Beaufort area.

Loved the place.. we went for a weekend getaway and the beach was very nice.. the sand is hard enough so you could set up a volleyball court and have some fun.. also the place is not very crowded relaxing place

Our favorite beach in SC. It's not loaded with tourists although most seem to crowd the area at the entrance. A short walk is well worth the effort for additional solitude and privacy. The beach is very clean but be on the lookout for black-tipped sharks, the largest we saw was about 4.5 to 5 feet long. The water is their home, we are only visitors. We have witnessed a few of them right at the shoreline chasing the crabs for an easy meal.

A great State park making great progress after the tragedy of Hurricane Matthew. We went by the fishing pier yesterday. We grabbed a bumper sticker, t-shirts and took pictures of the new grandson on what's left of the pierhe also had his first encounter with turtles inside and a racoon who eating by the waterfall/pond outside.

Definitely in my top 5 state parks anywhere in the US! So peaceful and breathtaking. There is a beach that is covered in toppled trees as the ocean is encroaching on the forest, it's the most surreal thing to see, take a seat on a tree for awhile and take it all in. Have traveled here twice and definitely plan on visiting again. On our last trip the trails and roads were flooded out due to a hurricane hitting a week or two prior so it's good to keep an eye on the weather prior to your visit.

I had a great time at the State Park. Pets allowed so my friends did too. I think the park will be reopened in May 2017 after restoration to the park from storm damage from last year. Have fun if you get a camping spot.
