Staff is super friendly! This place is super dog friendly which was awesome we are traveling and had to stop with our dog of course! Super cleannn! Great price!

The hotel was in a good location around a bunch of shops and restaurants right in summerville. I had no issues and everything went well. Breakfast was good.

They didn't have the room we reserved online, but they were able to give us the next best room. Disappointed, but we were desperately in need of a room. The price was reasonable. The room was clean for the most part. We determined from the old smoke smell and the ashtrays that we had been put in a smoking room. It had an odd smell; some sort of spray they used. The bathroom floors were so slippery it was hard to walk on them; almost as if they had been waxed but the wax wasn't cleaned. There was some noise from the hall, but nothing too excessive. Checkout was easy. We had our dog and it was very convenient for him. We stayed out of pure necessity. I'm not sure that it would be my first choice next time, but it was fine for one night.

Really enjoying our stay here. The staff was super friendly and helpful, they didn't have a room ready for us early, but let us rest and eat at the breakfast bar, since we had just driven 24 hours straight.
Their pet policy is very fair, extra $25 a night. I was worried our cat Oscar would be terrified and lodge himself under the bed but it apparently is too close to the ground to fit him (he is a XL cat) so he tried a few other hiding spots but there was no where "unsafe" for him to hide and we could easily find him. He also did not seem too scared, he explores and wanders like he normally would at home so that is a "cat approved" A+.
The breakfast food was as good as these things normally are, there are hot cinnamon buns and a funny pancake machine.
We didn't get to try out the pool but it looks nice too. The renovations seem to be going well and do not affect the experience. The only negative thing I have to say is there is a very strong chemical cleaning smell in the hallways and the rooms, but the silver lining is that you know they are cleaning well and regularly! It wasn't enough to bother me, just enough for me to notice it.response / report this review -

I was pleased with my stay at this hotel.
The building was clean and accessible, despite the renovations in progress at the time. Likewise, my room was wholly satisfactory, and reasonably priced. The staff I interacted with were friendly and attentive, and I left the premises without issue. Granted, I stayed only one night, and, with my being a young bachelor male, my needs were minimal; though, for what it's worth, my visit was sound in every way, and I'd probably stay at this hotel again.

THIS carries the Holiday Inn Express name???
This is an old, old hotel. You can tell they've been trying to renovate, but have missed some key points (don't be fooled by the photos!). Cracked paint, smells in the ice maker, cramped restrooms.
First, the front door leading to the lobby is most unimpressive; might have been nice in the 60's or 70's but not today. The lobby itself also looks like something from the 70's; cracks in the walls, stains on the furniture. Personnel at the front desk polite but nothing more.
The room: our room was on the first floor, so I have no comments on the elevator. The room was barely adequate; there was less than 2 feet between the edge of the beds and the dresser with the TV on top. The chair at the desk wouldn't fit under the desk, so to move past the chair, you had to move it out of the way, then put it back. The side chair in the corner was AWFUL. The padding was shot, the upholstery dirty.
The AC: cycled on and off every 90 seconds or so. The thermostat was not accurate. We kept the temp on the thermostat near 68. Folks in the bed near the AC froze, while the folks in the other bed were throwing the covers off.
The beds: really not that bad if you overlook the linens. Both beds were constantly short-sheeted, resulting in remaking the bed right after housekeeping left. A nice touch, however, was that the pillowcases were embroidered "soft" or "firm" for the pillows.
The bathroom was neat and housekeeping did a nice job with clean, fluffy towels.
The pool; quite possibly the largest hotel pool anywhere around (and that's not saying much!). The kids had a nice time; staff did a nice job keeping the pool area clean and neat, although the plastic/PVC patio furniture could use a good deep cleaning as nearly every piece is stained. Most nice, new hotels in the area have very, very small pools.
The only place this hotel shines is in the morning meal. The "dining room", which is divided by the buffet area, has tables and chairs on 1 side, and couches and side chairs on the other. The staff did a great job keeping the area clean, the food hot, and plates/napkins/utensils well stocked.
All in all; we wouldn't stay here again. The morning meal we can have anywhere, and this old hotel simply isn't worth the money.response / report this review
