For our various visit in NYC and within 25 km to the west in NJ the apartments and parking availability makes Candlewood a great place. We have stayed here 5 times over 3 years and will come again. We recommend the top floor east apartment facing Hudson river.
I stay here when in NY for work. The rooms are always clean and have their own kitchen area which I like. It’s easy to get to from Manhattan by Path or ferry at Paulus Hook. It’s definitely pretty basic accommodation and you can tell as soon as you enter the reception area, nothing fancy here if people are used to higher end hotels.
Rooms look good. Otherwise steer clear, no housekeeping unless you stay a full week..that means ( for me ) down 5 floors to get towels, Toiletrys, make your own bed empty your own trash..if you plan out your day plan to take an extra hour to run up& down this place to make sure you can shower in the morning. Im not a lazy man; for 200 a night i would expect better service.
Great location. Decent price. Only downside is the largest bed feels like a double
A nice hotel to stay if you are looking to cook your food as it has a nice kitchen. It is located at the perfect spot in the city which gets you closer to train, mall and waterfront.
You have all the amenities you would wish for including parking if you stay at Candlewood Suites and lots of complimentary stuff.
For a professional, you get to print and scan your documents. What else can you wish for.
No pool or hot tub, but they do offer free washing of clothes to guest, and there is a small store in there. the rooms have ac, fridge, stove top, and microwave. This hotel is better if you stay for 2 to 3 weeks at least
A very nice place that is comfortable and cozy and as an added bonus actually allows pets. We have a very anxious dog and she barks a lot, but we didn't get any complaints thankfully. It is conveniently located literally right next door to the light rail system and there are a few restaurants in the direct vicinity. The area is up and coming and trendy, but very nice and relaxing. Easy access to ferry to NYC and PATH trains to NYC.
We weren't expecting much given the reasonable price, but the quality of the room was a pleasant surprise. It was laid out comfortably (more like a 1-bedroom apartment than a hotel room) and had a nice full kitchen with a full-size fridge and a large island with ample seating. The staff was friendly and helpful as well. Overall we were very happy with the experience and will recommend it to friends & family in the future.
It's your average 2/3 star hotel. I have to give them credit, the beds were comfortable and everything was clean. The on-site parking was convenient as well.
This hotel offers a "low cost" alternative to much more expensive Manhattan Hotels. I put low cost in quotes, as I still paid well over $125 / night.
The property is just a short walk from either Newport or Exchange Place PATH Stations it can be a great starting point into your vacation. On weekends be ready to wait quite a bit for PATH trains.
The rooms have a great size and come with a "fully equipped" kitchenette, allowing you to cook your own meals, if you are so inclined. There's a ShopRite in walking distance to get supplies.
My room was well maintained and I found the hotel a decent value for money proposition and have nothing to complain about.
One thing to be aware of: Candlewood Suites do not provide daily housekeeping service. So if that was important to you, this might not be the hotel for you. But let's face it, it is quite easy to clean up behind oneself ;)
Another "bonus", you get really lovely views of Manhattan and if you want to visit a "mall" Newport Center is just outside the PATH station
Pet friendly, neat, comfortable, friendly staff and very convenient stay! Loved how easy the commute to NYC was.. We walked back quite late a couple nights and we still felt safe We'll definitely book here again!
We liked our stay here. Suites are spacious and clean. Quick and easy access to downtown Manhattan through the path station (5 minute walk from the hotel). In my opinion there were no noticeable flaws to mention. Price/quality point is spot on. If you want to avoid paying 2 or 3 times the price for a room in Manhattan, this is your best option.
