It was pretty cozy! Only issue- the cleaning staff is comfortable and slacked on our room. There were fingernail clippings on the bathroom sink when I first walked in the room there was also soap scum on the counter. The bed sheets had a couple of stauns but they weren't gross stains I assume.
Strange experience. My room was almost at 90degrees (the thermostat was reading 86 degrees) when I walked in. I could not open the window, nor could I turn on the air conditioning nor even a fan. I just had to turn the machine off and left my door open for a half-hour to an hour or so to let it cool down.
The next morning, I learned that my colleagues staying at the same hotel had no heat at all.
I gave an extra star because the staff was great.
Nice place, clean and friendly. No elevator to 2nd floor, so carry your bags upstairs. Decent breakfast. Overall, good value.
This place is about to be demolished, according to the sign posted on the wall. Last week I was put in a room with a glass window pane missing, with cardboard taping the November air out. When I complained in the morning they clearly knew about it, and apparently were aware it would trip the heating. Apparently "I should have called and asked it to be reset regularly". They did however move me to another room, which was better. No offer to compensate for full price being charged for the nightmare first night though
From desk staff was nice but hotel needs renovation. Not very comfortable it clean. Plugging my laptop in the room caused a power issue. Free parking is nice but I prefer the holiday inn or Crowne plaza down the street.
I loved staying here for the 4 days we were in Virginia. The management and employees were so polite and kind. They were very gracious towards my large family and I. The motel room was very clean and well kept, room service always did a wonderful job. Free shuttle service that drove us to airport and around town, free breakfast and tea/coffee availability near the front desk. Very beautiful inside and outside the motel. We loved it, will make this the place we stay the next time we come visit Virginia.
Charming hotel. Comfortable bed. Breakfast okay. Does have eggs, wafflesno elevator but only 2 floors. Would stay again. Oh shuttle ends at 9pm.
Accommodating and courteous staff. Convenient shuttle to and from airport and close by locations. Clean room and bathroom. Hot water made hot bath extremely enjoyable after a whole day of walking. Parking on-site. Close to a trader Joe for any last minute snack needs.
It's okay. Older rooms. Never did they disclose a parking fee of 10 bucks a day. I used my points to get my room so I think they charged me the parking fee just to get something out of me. I spoke to another guest and he said the price he was quoted online was 89 and when he got here they charged him 200 but he didn't pay a 10 dollar per day parking fee lol.
This is just a place to sleep and shower. If your looking for anything else you won't find it here The people are nice The shuttle driver was super nice.
UPDATE here when I booked the room in February they were still a best Western. As of March 2017 the are a independent hotel. Also they did take the parking fee off when I checked out They took it off on there own, I didn't raise a fuse.
My daughter was in DC and needed help to get a room quickly after a terrible experience of finding bed bugs at a Days Inn. I called Best Western Colony Inn because it was close to where she needed to be and had wonderful shuttle service. In less than five minutes over the phone, they had booked her a room, given me a great price, and allowed her to check in early so she could get to where she needed to be. She called me to tell me that the room was 'wonderful and every single person there was amazingly nice'. I second that and give a special shout out to Will, the manager and Keeva (I hope I am somewhat close to her name- so sorry if I am not!) who went above and beyond to help me out.
We have stayed twice at the Old Colony Inn while visiting relatives in the area and have no complaints. Very comfortable beds. Generally quiet. Nice rooms and friendly, attentive service. Free parking. Reliable wifi. OK breakfast. Nothing fancy but fine for our needs.
Nice, clean, helpful, great hotel. I would stay here again. It was a great location and very nice. It was close to the Capitol and surrounding areas. We got the shuttle service for free to the metro. It was a great service. Breakfast was great with alot of variety of food.
Pros: Nice location, close to King Street where all the fun stores are, close to the Potomac River and close to the Airport. The manager was very friendly. The free shuttle does pick ups and drop offs at the Airport, subway station and downtown Alexandria which was so helpful. We used the shuttle everyday. Our room was comfortable and they offered a free continental breakfast. The city of Alexandria, VA is beautiful.
Cons: there are no elevators in this hotel so if you can't climb stairs (about three flights) to the second floor and also to the breakfast room which is downstairs from the lobby you might not be able to stay here. If you don't mind stairs then it's a lovely place to stay. Also, my shower floor was very slick. I fell in the shower twice. Would be nice to have a bar to hold on to or non-slip on the shower floor. Not handicap friendly, but still enjoyed this hotel, it's staff and the beautiful town.
The staff at this location makes the whole experience so special. Mohamed is the well dressed gentleman at the front desk. He works hard to make your stay the best possible. Shawn, is your safe, friendly shuttle driver. You also will find him working to keep the property spiffy clean. The lady that provided breakfast has to be complimented. The food was fresh and tasty. She kept the surrounding area clean and she was always so pleasant. I suspect she made the homemade cookies in the evening. This place was in a great location but it's the people that I would return again for. Thank you for your kind service.
