Excellent place to stay. Staff is friendly and helpful. Breakfast is delicious and the wait staff takes good care of the customer! Rooms were clean and comfortable and had plenty of coffee. Please keep the soda/water vending machines filled on each floor.
Very convenient location. Staff was pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was better than similar hotels.
Pretty standard hotel. The rooms were nice. The breakfast was pretty limited and there was no pool or hot tub. Other than that, I have no complaints.
Hotel staff was very polite when we checked in. The rooms were clean and nice. We were there because some of our group were running the Marine Corps Marathon. When we didn't get back in time for checkout, they were very accommodating, allowing our runners to shower and the rest of us to pack up before our 8 hour drive home. We've stayed here 3x now, and every year, we love to come back to this location specifically. The King St metro is just a Ross the main Street, so it's very convenient!
It was a pretty nice place. The beds weren't springy and there weren't any bed bugs. The only complaint that I have is that there is no way to keep from others hearing you. There is no walls blocking the sound.
The hotel is convenient to the King St Metro station and has a great breakfast every morning. It would be nicer if the rooms had 2 queen size beds instead of doubles.
Breakfast is included in your visit and it's pretty good. Parking garage is awful. It's a tight space so hopefully you have a smart car. It's $20 per day and we left with a bill of $80 which is stupid. The location is by the train station which we didn't really mind very much. We could all use a little bit of exercise now and then. Overall, I can't really complain much.
I've stayed in a number of hotels in the Alexandria area. This by far is the most convenient considering how close it is to the King Street Metro station, while also being within a reasonable walking distance from the waterfront and points in-between for shopping and dining. The hotel itself is clean and well maintained as you might expect from a main drag location such as this. The rooms are comfortable and what I have come to expect from the Hampton Inn brand. This includes a mini-fridge, a microwave oven in the room and other expected in room amenities. The bed is reasonably comfortable, but I still recommend bringing your own pillow if you prefer, since the pillows here are only marginally comfortable. The shower works well and there seems to be plenty of towels by default (don't need to call for extra like at some hotels). As for the included breakfast buffet, it is about what I've come to expect from the hotels that include breakfast - one day I'd like to see hotels like this step up their game on this just a little bit as far as quality is concerned (like what you might find more at their Garden Inn brand). Overall, the hotel is an all around good place to stay with just some minor issues. I'd definitely stay here again.
Great location, nice hotel and staff. It's a typical Hampton - beds are comfortable and the rooms overlooking King St (all king beds) are quiet too as not much traffic on the street at night.
It's one block to the Metro station and on King Street in old town Alexandria. It's about 10 blocks to walk to the heart of old town but the King Street Trolley (every 15 minutes 10 AM to 10 PM) stops right in front of the hotel and is free - it goes up/down King St from the Metro station to the waterfront, stops every couple of blocks.
Rooms are nice and modern. I like the updates to the bathrooms and living areas. Location is great. Trolly stop right outside and one block away from the metro.
Great location by the King Street Metro. Rooms were nice. The television was a little small. Clean rooms. Like all Hampton, the bed spread is too heavy. The parking garage is around the backside of the hotel and there is not a valet or good check-in parking so you have to hunt along the road. The front desk told me you get twenty minutes free. The parking garage is difficult to get to if there is traffic. The street is hard to see with cars at the stop light. Overall worth the easy access to the Metro.
I saw someone compare the bed to sleeping on a Sears catalog. That's doing a disservice to the catalog. I've spent almost 40 days in hotels in 2017 and this is by far and away the worst bed I've slept in. When questioned about the quality of the mattress we were told that they've just remodeled and there is no way the bed is uncomfortable. While they may have spared no expense on the fixtures and paint, they went exceptionally budget friendly on the bed. Seriously, I've slept on floors that were more comfortable. If that wasn't bad enough, they are repairing the pool to open for the season. I say repairing as they were using a jackhammer. When asked, the front desk staff said they were just cleaning it. I've never seen an instance where a jackhammer is used as a cleaning instrument, guess there's a first time for everything. When questioned, the front desk suggested that we just check out halfway through our trip and find a new hotel. So, that's exactly what we did. We checked into the Kimpton, which is less than a block away and saved $100 a night.
