Decent and clean hotel. Don’t be fooled by a good price when you book it because once you arrive they slap you with a $15 a day parking charge. You don’t have to accept it but there aren’t many places to park nearby so you’re basically screwed. They also very kindly slide a copy of your hotel bill under your door at 6 AM as a way to say get the hell out on your final morning. Also, there are only lamps around the room so expect to not be able to see after coming inside until your eyes adjust. Then there are the room keys that don’t work and when your wife tells the front desk about it their response is to ask their coworker to show her how to use it. I never realized using a key card was so difficult but because it is expect to spend five min outside your door trying to learn yourself the magical timing for the key. I found it best to insert the key card, have my daughter count to seven, then slowly remove the key. Best of luck.
P.S.
The housekeepers do a very good job.
This was our first time here and will deffently return. The room was small and cozy but the beds were small at 6'4" I need a king, but they were comfortable. The hotel is about 2 to 3 blocks from the river and easy access. At under a hundred bucks this is a good deal.
HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! YOU NEED TO HIRE STAFF THAT DOES KNOW HOW TO PROPERLY CHARGE YOUR PAYING CLIENTS. TO BE CHARGED 4 TIMES ONLY TO BE TOLD PROPER REIMBURSEMENT WILL TAKE 7-10 DAYS IS AN ABSOLUTE OUTRAGE!! IN WHOSE RIGHT MIND THINKS OFFERING A FREE NIGHT MAKES EVERYTHING OKAY? GET IT TOGETHER! STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE.
Upon arrival and at check in, was told I had no reservation. I provided the representative my confirmation number. He pulled up my reservation and discovered he gave my room to someone else. He said no problem i will get you a room. I asked since I am using rewards points and the other person is in my room i will not be charged any incidentals for her room, he said no.
Later that evening i checked my account only to learn that BEST WESTERN was holding another 179 for my room. Also funds for original room. As deposit. We will see if it drops off. Was told by desk clerk i would have to call my bank and ask them to call her or she couldn't fix it.
The room clean, beds uncomfortable, no pool, waffles were great.
Very convenient location. Liked the arts and crafts period furniture. Beds comfortable, king room large with sofa. Good value. Pleasant experience.
My wife and I stay at the Best Western Sunset Suites Riverwalk while in San Antonio, because we find it such a great place to stay. The room staff is very helpful and friendly, the front desk personnel are like family always caring and willing to help you feel at home. The Hotel is right on the trolley and bus line . just step out the front door, and catch the trolley, and that is really nice. You can ride the trolley all around San Antonio with an all day pass for only $2.75 per person, just like site seeing! The rooms are spacious and comfortable, with big screen TV and free internet service. The rooms decor is really wonderful and very clean Oh!, and if you like eating a great hot breakfast on real dinnerware, then you'll love this place . yes, I'm talking real plates, silverware and glasses. You will be very pleased. 👍🏽 - Jerry Wilbanks, Sr of Houston, Texas
Rooms were nice. Online booking did not mention the parking fee. Room walls were paper thin though and guests were extremely loud. Breakfast was pretty good. So overall a decent experience. Great location though.
Second year staying here for Women of Joy conference at convention center. Not pleased with check in. The first year the room was kind of musty smelling. But we tolerated it. The second year, reservations were made online at BW website, however deleted when we got there. They offered a second room at a 9%discount. (We were a party of three)
Room still musty and humid. Very low lighting and delay on remote. Maybe a remodel is needed to be competitive. Not staying here next year.
My family and I stayed here during our trip for 3 nights. We loved it. At first we were a little skeptical when we arrived because it had that old look from the outside, but as soon as we entered our minds changed. The staff was great. Very nice and professional, made small talk. The room we stayed in was nice and spacious, there was six of us in it, 4 adults, 2 children and we fit perfectly. It's close to the river walk, we walked and it wasn't far. We were amazed at their breakfast, they offered a variety compared to other hotels we've stayed at. They had waffles, egg, sausage, different cereals, yogurts, muffins. The price we got the room for was reasonable. You have to pay a parking fee for each day but it's at a reasonable price. Only downside to the hotel was the parking lot it is small, it overfills and they don't have pool. But other than that it's a great hotel! I would stay again!
The hotel room was spacious and equipped with a small sink, fridge and microwave. The shower apparatus was a bit different but they did provide directions. The staff was the bright spot at this BW location. Everybody was friendly and helpful. Breakfast would be the only thing I might take issue with. What was offered was fine, it was just crowded, especially on Sunday morning. During their peak time, around 8:30, the staff seemed to have trouble keeping up with providing clean dishes and flatware. But overall it was a good experience and I will be going back when we go to San Antonio.
Nice location and conveniently located near downtown near the Tower of America, Convention Center, River Walk and Alamo. Just about 10 minute walk to River Walk area and the mall.
Very pleasant staff, friendly and helpful, clean spacious rooms, comfy firm bed but need better pillows (thankfully we always travel with one). Rooms have small fridge, microwave, desk and couch, 42" TV. Breakfast is that of any other continental breakfast; gravy was gross though (only complaint).
Parking here is $12.99 per night. Also rooms on south side of building are semi noisy due to road traffic, just turn your fan on constant which helps drown out the noise but overall I Would recommend staying at this location
Walking distance to most attractions and shopping! Cute trolley if u don't want 2 walk. Room was a nice size with comfy bed and a great view. Yummy hot breakfast In am, and the front desk staff extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Will stay again!!!
I've stayed at Best Western Plus Sunset Suites on 3 separate occasions. And I can honestly say that each stay has always been better than the last. Each of my stays have involved attending events at AT&T Center, which is just a short 15 minute drive away from the hotel. The hotels proximity to the downtown area and to the freeway is also a major plus. Now, as far as the hotel itself, its one of the best hotels I've stayed at in S.A. The hotel provides you with a very comfortable experience all the way through. So if you're looking for a clean, comfortable, well-managed, well-maintained, reasonably priced hotel near the downtown area of SA, this is your hotel.
My husband and I stayed here April 9-15, 2017. The location of this hotel is excellent for going downtown, catching a bus or trolley or getting onto the freeway. The staff was friendly, helpful and professional ( we had one episode with a staff person that we felt was not professional). The room was okay, but felt the beds were hard and the furniture especially the bed frame was too big for the size of the room. If you do stay here try not to get a room on the street side as it does get noisey and you do hear people above you if they are loud walking in their rooms. The breakfast was good and they have a variety of foods to choose from.
