Well hotel is currently under renovation so not sure how much improvement will occur in the future. The room was fairly clean, unfortunately the housekeeper forgot a used washcloth that was hanging in the shower. We had a room with two beds, the heating/cooling unit is above one of the beds. The unit is very noisy as it cycles on and off during the night and kept waking me up. The beds were comfortable and pillows were a combination of firm and soft. Breakfast was decent with choices. The warm cinnamon roll was very good. The breakfast attendant was standing by an open doorway waiting to refill items. I mentioned to her that a couple of the tables needed cleaning, one looked like it had pancake syrup on it. She seemed surprised, but did go over to clean the tables. Valet parking worked well and considering their location there just isn't close in parking available. Know that after dark the area around the hotel is not well traveled and there are a number of homeless individuals wandering the area. Many businesses that might be open in the daytime are closed in the evening. I would not feel safe walking alone in the area. For these reasons I would not return to this location.

I was greeted with a smile the moment I walked in the door. The desk clerk answered every question I asked happily and with no hesitation. She spoke clearly and not once did she act as if I was a bother.

Clean rooms, reasonably priced. Bed was a bit uncomfortable, but this place is so cheap that I can't complain. Breakfast was good enough for a hotel. Overnight parking was $15 which was also reasonable since they park it for you. Valet can take a while since it's usually just one guy that has to run over to the parking lot, so just have them bring the car around 10 minutes before you leave and it'll be smooth sailing.

Decent hotel at walking distance from the river walk. Relatively cheap so not too high expectations. The breakfast is surprisingly good, the beds are comfortable. The rooms were not very clean, the swimming pool is ridiculously small and strangely located. On the negative side, there is no free parking space around.

Nice hotel fairly close to the Riverwalk. I choose the hotel because parking was free and convenient last time I was here. Now you have to valet (parking lot closed across the street) and they charge $15.00 a day. Bummer!

I couldn't get past the lobby. I canceled my reservation the second I stepped in and ran away. I could already tell by the service I got up to that point it wouldn't be worth it. Not to.mention the entrance is down a dingy alley and everything looked to be in disarray. Also it's quite obvious a robot replays with the same "your feedback is important to us" to every comment someone makes here.

Nice comfy beds. Remodeling so a bit a mess. But it is understandable

If anyone is looking for a great deal on hotels you can check it out on HotelRaven. com Booked a room on there and they had the best rates around

Stayed here for 5 nights this post week. Celeste was very friendly and super helpful. One of the best front desk associates of all time. The breakfast was also great. However, the air conditioning stopped working in my room and several of my colleagues rooms during our stay and out hotel key cards were deactivated every night. Definitely a great location and friendly staff but room for improvement.

Really nice place with an interesting history. Close to everything and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The included breakfast is one of the best I've had

I enjoyed my stay here. I especially liked the history of this particular building! Very intriguing! The valet was very polite, and I wouldn't mind staying here again. Also this hotel is close to the river walk, so that's a plus.

The rooms are kept very clean..towels and toiletries well stocked. I thought the history of the building was intriguing. Issues we had: fridge didn't work. Parking: forced to valet park, as no on property parking lot available..however, at a tad over $16/day, and my car was parked just across the street..Could've done that myself! The breakfast could be better, but for free, it's doable. I'm wondering if mgt allows the valets to solicit tips. The guy who retrieved my car..took all of 1 minutekind of stood within my personal space, hand held out, asking for tip..he stood so close, I was afraid NOT to give anything..they should have a tip box or something..the way that went down kind of freaked me out. This hotel is within walking distance to a lot of good stuff..just be prepared to be solicited by the homeless..quite a few that are in the area. The place does need a good update. I think this particular place was under par for the Holiday Inn Express branding.

It was above average. Lodging was clean and seeing people in the halls they wished us a good stay. Unfortunately breakfast was very cramped both mornings we went and there is a valet fee of 15 plus tax per night to have your car parked or a nearby lot for 5. It wouldn't be a big deal but there is no parking at the facility! So you have to pay out extra if you have a vehicle.

Loved how close the hotel is to River Walk and all the sites. Just a short walk and you're where you want to be. It's a quaint hotel with some historical qualities. But this also means that it's not the most modern of the hotels we've stayed in and could use some maintenance. The only parking option was valet parking for $15 that isn't mentioned when booking. Staff was friendly and accommodating.
