The front staff is completely and absolutely incompetent. If you are speaking to Krystal, just run. This woman incorrectly charged my card a total of three times. This woman also gave me a room initially that had no working outlet, a nightstand with a handle halfway ripped off and stained bed sheets. Upon reassigning my room, she charged me for the room. At checkout I was going to be charged again. Then when I was trying to address the problem the general manager, Josh, avoided me and hid in a lock and coded office. Also according to Josh, there is no corporate or supervisor number, he is the only person to talk to. I am still waiting for the final refund. About the only thing positive I can say is the breakfast and mediocre room.

This hotel is very a good place to stay for the price it offers. We stayed as we worked in town. Recent construction ongoing so place is getting better. They offer a free drink ticket every night which is awesome. Bill the bartender is very friendly and provides good service. Overall the hotel is worth the price.

The 816 Hotel is a comfortable, spacious, and modern hotel with a great location. We enjoyed our stay here immensely.

Check in was a breeze. Ava, who checked us in, was very friendly and made sure to let us know all the hotel had to offer. That started with a free drink at the hotel bar. Apparently, you get a free drink every night you stay. Works for me! The bar was comfortable, affordable, and well stocked. Nice to have somewhere to unwind after a long day driving.

If you want to venture off site, the hotel is right in the heart of the Westport district. Tons of restaurants, bars, and shopping all within walking distance. If you care to venture a little further, the hotel does offer a shuttle service.

The hotel itself was large and the rooms were no exception. Very comfortable beds, a spacious bathroom, and most important it was very clean. Kudos to the housekeeping staff here. This place looked great!

We really enjoyed our stay at the 816 Hotel and will definitely back. Thanks for everything!

Our clients, comedian Jay Harris and Musician Adam lee, are constantly on tour and staying in different hotel properties throughout the country. This has got to be one of their favorites with the themed rooms, and the awesome staff! The free breakfast and location to the downtown area is also very awesome. Thank you for taking such great care of our client time after time and for always providing those traveling with Ignite Hospitality Services a wonderful experience!

When you walk into the hotel the lobby does not give a good first impression and neither does the elevator. Always something sticky spilled on the floor but when you get to your room they are clean, modern, updated and very large. A good breakfast is served in the morning including omelets made to order. They give you one free drink coupon everyday that you stay and there is a hole in the wall Restaurant next door that has really good food. Staff is friendly but there are couple of them that are very young and not very professional. Over all though a good stay. Rooms are nice and quiet

They were great! When we got here we discovered there was no fridge in the room. We had forgotten to ask. I had to have a fridge as I was having tests done at KU med. They gladly upgraded our room for no upgrade fee. This was greatly appreciated by myself and my husband.

I really liked staying at the 816 Hotel. They have everything I needed at a great price. There was life in this hotel and it felt good, the staff was very friendly and welcoming, the bar downstairs had people eating, drinking and enjoying their nights. The hallways were very uniquely decorated and felt very cool. The room was nice and quiet and comfortable. The bed was great, there was a nice flat screen TV, coffee maker and a mini fridge. The shower was nice, very modern design. In the morning, I was able to get a good breakfast and fresh hot coffee. There are also restaurants and bars within walking distance. I’ll definitely stay here next time I’m Kansas City.

A very unique experience. The interior has a ton of special detail specific to Kansas City and the themed rooms were really cool. However, it's a noisy hotel. Not only are you in the middle of a bar district with trash trucks and sirens, but each room features a rolling barn door for the bathroom door. That's very neat to look at, but not when you hear the room next to you rolling the door shut and open at 2 am. Still, a very cool hotel.

I loved this place. It was so cute and quirky and friendly. Like if I was a hotel - a big large bearded hotel with a drinking problem - and I saw this hotel - creative, unique, and with an independent streak a mile wide, I'd buy it a drink. And after two or three vodka Red Bulls, because I drink like I'm in a sorority, I'd probably just promise my undying love to 816 Hotel and ask her to marry me.

Stayed here two nights for a weekend getaway where we did some shopping and saw a show at the Starlight. The hotel is a little aged, but has been remodeled well. We were in one of the TWA themed rooms, and it was enjoyable. The room itself was clean and more than adequate. Id would recommend the hotel to anyone wanting a trendy place to stay in a great location in KC. Walking distance to Westport and the plaza. The only things I didn't like about it were the sliding "barn" doors leading to the bathroom made it very awkward to use the bathroom when the door essentially doesn't close. Also, some of the theme items in the room, like the covering on the futon and the airliner seats made me wonder how sanitary they can be made as it is not usual materials to be in a hotel room. Also, there was only small trash can in the entire room, and it was in the bathroom? Not enough trash storage, but whatever I guess. The guests seemed young and trendy and seemed to enjoy talking and drinking, which was not my thing, but they were nice enough. The staff was friendly and helpful, but the breakfast was pretty mediocre, even the custom made omelets (way too dry).

I would recommend staying there, and would might stay there again.

The specific hotel we stayed at looked a little sketchy from the outside, but looked great and modern on the inside. The wifi was faster than the stuff we got at home (~15 mbps), and there was a wide selection of cable TV channels. The breakfast is the standard for hotels (make your own waffles, yogurt, cereal, etc.) but also had a made-to-order omelette bar. Overall, great services and great experience.

We stayed at the 816 hotel Mother's Day weekend and I can't rave enough about our experience! Our friends received a pet friendly room that was TO DIE FOR! Wayside Waifs theme! Ours was themed with TWA. Super fun airplane stuff everywhere. Bed was so comfortable. Room was nice and quiet. Location is ideal with the Westport Flea Market next door with amazing food, and downtown Westport just a couple blocks away. Staff in the hotel was beyond friendly and accommodating. Hotel bar is small, but not lacking in what you'd love to wet your whistle with. I cannot say enough great things about our stay, and we're already looking forward to being repeat guests!!

Great location if you want to experience the West Port downtown bar situation. Clean place and helpful staff. Only downside was the bed option. Stayed in a room with 2 full side beds instead of the standard option 2 queens size beds, and the room we had a weird bathroom door that didn't shut all the way.

This is a newer hotel for the Westport area. Very clean, hip hotel in the area. With a hotel stay you get 2 free drinks at their bar. Even though it's in Westport, it is relatively quiet. They are remodeling the hotel which makes it very quaint and chic.
Recommend staying here. It is right next to the flea market burger joint and in the Westport area which has many bars and restaurants.
The staff that works there was also really nice and friendly.

Awful. Ground floor room. Dirty. Stinky. Broken lamp. Glass left under the appliance. Young Manager accused us of the damage when WE reported it. We discovered the glass as dogs were chewing. LOUD cocktail hours where same young manager joins in the drinking & frivolity. The room smelled awful. Harshly told candles not allowed when FOUR employees entered our room (uninvited). They not only allowed our dogs to escape, they went through our medications & adult beverages. They accused wife of being drunk & would not let her leave the hotel. (She rarely drinks & had not been!) The young manager referenced how much fun could be had with the prescriptions & booze. Inappropriate. He took her arms in his hands & asked why she had bruises. She was also called a racist when she asked why there were FOUR people in the VERY small room.
This was harassment plain & simple. It continued with the Young manager following, harassing every single day & (most of) the Staff giving the cold shoulder. Most unpleasant. Young Manager searched & took hard drive from room but could not be bothered to call. Do. Not. Stay. Here.
