Nice updated rooms and a cool speakeasy in the basement. Bartender in the restaurant was a bit of a jerk, but nice atmosphere. Would have given 5 stars, but we had no hot water both mornings we were there. The manager did comp us 1 night, which helped, but still no clue how it didn't get fixed after complaining the first night. Parking a bit of a challenge, but the valet staff was fast and courteous.

Valet was 8 cars deep and just told us to drive back around until the line got shorter (at 7pm). Went inside and both desk clerks we busy and asked us to wait but no one was in line. As a Hilton gold member was not welcomed nor given water for the room. As a curio collection I expect more.
I have stayed in he past and a very cool hotel but the service was not good this time.

Great hotel. They gave me day passes to this great gym a couple of blocks away. The bed was really comfortable. My room was well laid out. All of the hotel staff were knowledgeable and friendly.

Used 40,000 points to stay here for a night. That was 39,000 too many. The hotel is old. The room looks nice, bed is comfortable but it stops there. I checked in through the app when I received the notification 24 hours prior, that I could check in. I picked my room and received a confirmation that my digital key would be available upon arriving at the hotel. When I got there it said Welcome and prompted me to go to the lobby to get my key even though it said I was checked in to room 809 (the room I picked). Upon check in, the concierge have me two keys for room 609. I went to the room and they didn't work. Called the front desk, they said the room number was actually 509 even though he wrote 609 on my card. He offered to cover breakfast for the hassle. When we were headed to breakfast we realized the "free breakfast" voucher he gave us was up to $10. Most of the items were more than $10. So we went to get a cup of coffee thinking hotels normally have free coffee for guests. Ends up the coffee was $3.00. You'd be better off staying at a Hampton. This Curio needs a Curator

Apparently when I called a couple of weeks ago to book directly, my reservation didn't make it in the system, but they took care of me! Beat my quoted rate! The rooms and hotel in general are beautiful. Great location with quick access to the Power & Light district for a ton of choices for dinner. And the on site restaurant serves fabulous food to boot.

Very nice and historic, with modern remodel. If you are staying downtown in Kansas City, I would recommend. It was $200 a night for a tiny room but the bed was comfy and the restroom/shower needed some exhaust fans that actually let some of the steam out. When showering in this small area with a glass enclosed shower this tiny shower area is so dense with steam you feel as if you will pass out. Staff was friendly and helpful!

I booked this hotel for a colleague. It's beautiful and the front desk service is friendly. But, the water in her room did not work for over a day (she couldn't shower!) and they did not resolve it even after she complained or give a discount. A verbal apology isn't really enough when you can't flush the toilet or take a shower.

The rooms, at least the standard rooms, were small and dark.
I realized I was staying in an old, historical hotel and would forgo some amenities (fridge, microwave, larger room) but assumed the customer service and room/hotel cleanliness would be outstanding. This was just not so. Our bathroom was not cleaned well at all (dried urine on toilet, hair in shower). We left for awhile and were told room would be recleaned and another matter with the bathroom would be taken care of. When we returned, the urine and hair were still there. We asked to be moved so at 11 pm we had to pack up and move. We were not offered so much as a free drink for our trouble or even a visit from the managerBUT as we checked out they did make sure they charged us an extra $12 for having a third person in the room, even though we only had 2 glasses/coffee mugs. I tried to contact manager about our stay when I got home but my voice mail was not returned. Frankly, I've had better customer service at a Days Inn. Too bad they don't have enough pride in their historical hotel to care about the customer experience.I feel it's just about getting as much money out of you as they can.

They valets and front desk staff were very nice and helpful but I was really looking forward to my visit after seeing pictures online. I didn't really have a choice of where I stayed because I was attending a convention where they pick the hotel for you,so checking reviews would have been pointless. It is a very small property. I requested a double when I checked in but was told nothing was available yet a friend who wanted a single got a double the next day. The single I ended up with was smaller than my bedroom at home (mind you my stay was to last a week, we left a day early) there was no radio, clock, microwave or refrigerator. The ice machine was smaller than my cooler. I finally remembered to bring my bathing suit but when I went to look for the pool was told the signs were old and they haven't gotten around to changing them. I used a glass the first day of my stay and when I checked out today it was still where I placed it. The housekeeping staff was nice and would get me what I requested but if the rooms were serviced as they should have been, I wouldn't have had to ask for anything. All in all, the hotwl was clean and staff nice just not what I expected for the price after going to website.

The Hotel Phillips was very nice and had a great classic feel. It has been remodeled several times in it's history, and the upscale room shows it. However there are some things that just can't be updated, such as the room sizes and the tiny lacking elevators. Also I did pay for a deluxe room, in which the website shows a completely different room. But I was satisfied enough that I didn't complain. Overall though, the hotel was classy and was very clean. I would love to stay there again in the future.

Our room smelled terrible. When we booked the room, they promised us a refrigerator. Upon arriving, they had none left. I was forced to put my pumped breast milk in their break room fridge. We spent $600 on a 2 night stay and were constantly having to bring down milk to put in their fridge. The valet service was a mess. This hotel is very poorly ran. Go to the Marriott across the street. They at least have good customer service.

Absolutely gorgeous, the velvet furniture, amazing old iron work, beautiful statue in the lobby, the marble and old tile, great service, slept great in the beds!! Absolutely quiet. Adorable coffee shop with apparently nitro you can add to your coffee?? And very elegant restaurant next door I did not have enough money to venture into! So happy we stayed here!!

This was our first visit to Kansas City, and we were there for a wedding a few blocks away. We realized that the hotel was old, and this usually adds to the charm of a hotel, but that is not how we saw it. Our room was $310 for one nights stay. The room was spacious, but the floor was not vacuumed, it was like walking on gravel near the bathroom. I had to wear my crocs the whole time because of all the junk on the floor. We also did not have glasses in our room. when we wanted a drink of water we had to use the two coffee cups in the room. The room was also very dark. As a woman, there was no room to get ready. They had a pedestal sink, and no counter what so ever for the curling iron, or makeup. We also got home late and wanted a soda, and we could not find a vending machine anywhere. We were told we could have called room service!!$$$ The room also smelled like dog!! We were told they allow service dogs so maybe there was one in the room the night before, but without vacuuming the smell lingered. We expressed our concerns to the staff- she was going to talk to her manager, and maybe some money may come off ..nothing yet. While checking out, the printer would not work so we could not get a receipt!! To say the least we were very disappointed. One good note was the valet guys were super nice.

Excellent hotel! Just underwent an extensive renovation. Nice view of downtown. Comfortable rooms. Hardly any water pressure but we were on the 12th floor and it wasn't that big of a deal. Nice upscale restaurant and "secret" bar/lounge. The best part is the location! Less than a 10 minutes walk to Sprint Center and pretty much anything in the downtown area. I'd highly recommend you go on a travel site to get it about half price. It's worth it just to avoid having to pay to park downtown and drive from another location though. It was $16/day in the parking garage.

This is an absolutely amazing hotel. I can't say enough great things about it. The service from everyone at the hotel from top to bottom was fabulous! Everyone was so courteous and made me feel like I was the only guest at the hotel. The Speak Easy lounge is fantastic and the dining experience was wonderful as well. I'm a Hilton Diamond member and travel from coast to coast and this is now my new favorite. Do yourself a favor and make it to this hotel soon. Plus, the beds are heavenly!!!! Best night sleep I have had in a long time.
