Very professional & courteous service. Nice modern rooms. Great location.
For those who consider working at Okura as housekeepers - beware of Ilona, HR manager. She is shady and can play some weird tricks/ behaviors on you during interviews and later. Basically if she will like your 'nose' you will get a job! Big big minus to Okura of keeping such unprofessional person in so important role! :(
Great Hotel with very polite staff at the reception. Only one issue was no Tv listing or welcome pack in room until second night although don't let this change your mind as the hotel is very good quality. Great pool and spa. Only three stops on the tram to city centre which is located 5 minutes up the road. I would come back to this hotel any day. dank je !
Booked this hotel in Amsterdam on a recent trip. The check in went well. Got a good room but had two single beds. Asked for a change in room and was given a smaller room but with a double bed. Booked an executive room and had access to the executive lounge. I went up to the lounge but could not have access. I had to go back to reception to have the access added on my card. The snacks served are not of the best quality and no variety. Tried to book the restaurant but it was fully booked unfortunately. Nice place.
I was not very impressed by the hotel and comparing it to others in its category have stayed in many of the world leading hotels.
It is also far from all the Amsterdam fun.
Excellent service and great pool. There are 4 restaurants collecting 4 michelin stars and 1 bib-gourmande Despite been less hip than other hotel, this is real grand dame and 5 ⭐️ hotel.
Have just spent 2 nights at this hotel, and I have nothing negative to say about it.
The staff were extremely helpful, accommodating, polite and friendly. They were full of advice and handy helpful tips. Nothing was too much trouble.
We had a room on the 8th floor, overlooking the canal that runs outside the hotel which was lovely. The room itself was beautiful with THE most comfortable bed we've ever slept in! The room is a more than adequate size (superior room), the bathroom was lovely with a separate shower and bath, with built in speakers in the ceiling and a glass partition wall so you could still watch the tv while you bathe, very nice touch!
It is in a more residential area, which for us was no issue. We purchased 2 x 48 hour tram passes from the front desk, and also given a really helpful map with landmarks and bus/tram routes so it was really easy to get around. Only €12.50 each pass.
Definitely recommend hiring an E-Bike!!!! It was €29.95 from A-Bike rental which is up on dam square, but that's for the whole day. You can cover 80km on a full charge and even for the larger people like myself or those worried about fitness levels (again like myself) it was an absolute pleasure to ride around on. Weirdest partbeing on a bike YOU have right of way over everyone! Very strange but also very reassuring.
Don't waste money on a taxi from the airport! You can easily get to this hotel on the NS Sprinter train (which is attached to the airport) to the station Zuid for less than €4 a head, then the bus (no 65) for less than €3 a head, which stops about 5 minute slow walk from the hotel. The whole journey takes about 20-25 minutes depending on waiting times.
The whole stay in Amsterdam was awesome. The people are lovely, the place is lovely, and we can't wait to return to this hotel and this amazing place. HIGHLY recommend Okura!
This hotel was booked for us as a pre-cruise extension. The service is amazing, the staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and speak more languages than I can even name. The breakfast was incredible (try all the cheeses!). Our room was fabulous, with a corner View (2 direction view, including a scenic canal). Our bathroom was spacious with a rain shower head and a tub. We are in easy walking distance to 4 different tram stops, one that takes you to City Center (14-17 min) and one that takes you directly to the museum's (12-15 min). There are restaurants in the hotel and nearby. Perfect, quiet spot to enjoy a stress-free trip to Amsterdam.
The rooms were perfectly luxurious and being young, we didn't feel put of place. The staff have been extremely polite and helpful. I would very much recommend here. Our only irritant would be that the restaurants are extremely expensive and far out of our price range however this is because of the awards the restaurants hold. We've paid €800 euros for 4 nights stay but it has been worth every penny we've paid. We couldn't ask for better!
We stay here very regularly and it almost feels like home. Rooms are very beautiful (and so is the view over Amsterdam!). Lovely rain shower and soft towels. Hotel is close to public transport, always taxis available and many restaurants around the corner (although their inhouse restaurants are very good too!). Personnel is friendly, cars can be parked in their own garage. Tip: when you check out and have to go to the airport, ask for a taxi voucher, saves you money!
Experienced the hotel Okura during several events including dinner at the Japanese restaurant. High quality food, professional service for the events and everything else. A perfect view from the bar at the rooftop. We enjoyed staying at the Okura very much.
I had a lovely stay here. I have stayed in many 5 star hotels and this one had a really fantastic focus on the customer. Informative and always on hand, yet not intrusive. I would stay at the akura brand again!
Very nice hotel. Great views (depending on your room obviously). A little out of the way from the center of town. Nice rooftop bar.
This hotel is FANTASTIC. The room was high tech, you walk in and the curtains open for you. The beds were comfortable, the bathroom beautiful, and the concierge very helpful. The bar also knew how to make a great martini. Couldn't ask more of a hotel.
Nice hotel, slightly off center but great location nonetheless. The 3 restaurants in the hotel are fabulous and each is worth the visit alone. Service is attentive but only to a point and felt not personal just like one encounters in large hotels. The hotel rooms are clean but dated and some need to be refurbished as of 2016.
