An astounding all inclusive 5* luxury hotel with 5* service to match. Staff are highly attentive yet so discrete, you will hardly notice they have topped up your drink as it runs low. We stayed in a fairly basic double room and even that was of a high standard with hot tub and a mini bar that comprised of full size optics. The grounds are stunning, and it is understandable you see a wedding there almost every day – not that these impede on your stay as the resort is huge. Also worth doing is the kitchen tour. Highly interesting due to the sheer scale of the catering requirements, plus you are given samples throughout. The hotel also serves many cuisines throughout the day, as well as blending up any smoothie or freshly squeezed juice you can think of.
We had a very good overall experience at the Moon Palace. There were a number of issues and I get that the staff is busy as they have a lot of weddings, but it would be great if they can understand this is not another convention, but a once in a lifetime wedding!
All the small issues aside, we enjoyed our stay and wedding. Food was excellent and the grounds were very clean. The water park was a great addition and we as adults had a great time on all the water slides :)
Room and service were top notch as well.
Your $750 resort credit is worth about $0 in reality, in fact I saw 3 people checking out being shocked by how much their bill was . We stayed 5 days, called on day one and could not get a massage, the romantic dinner, and my wife could not get a manicure scheduled for the whole week. The resort prices are double what you’d pay in San Diego, CA. Every store in the resort has a sign that says “use your resort credit here” when you walk in you’re given the choice to buy an $850 hat 😄 or a $1500 beach bag (no joke). The taxes you pay on the extraoridinarily marked up items ends up being exactly what you’d pay if you just bought the item or service in town. Maui Jim’s are priced at $425, a basic glass of wine is $35 for which you pay $5 in taxes. $120 out of pocket for a couple’s massage (their listed price is somewhere around $500) you can go into Cancun and get the same massage on the beach for $130. Wasted a lot of time just trying to figure out their pricing and scheduling game, you’re better off staying at a better located hotel and just paying normal prices for everything.
I've been a member of the palace resorts, palace premier and palace elite programs for a number of years and overall feel like I've gotten a decent value. I originally booked a room at the Moon Palace Grand and moved the second day to the Nizuc area of the resort due to the beds, view and location of our room at the Grand (They didn't have any King size beds as requested and the double beds were a bit small in the room that we were assigned).
My biggest complaint with the Palace resorts in general is that you feel like you have to constantly ask for the benefits that were promised at the onset and every time I've checked out, I've had an issue that generally does not get resolved properly.
I've been staying at a number of different resorts lately and have found that overall, the service and benefits are similar without having to deal with the membership hassles. That said, the Moon Palace is a beautiful resort (very expansive) with a lot of amenities. If you can get a good deal online without going through Palace vacation planners, I would recommend it.
I asked the Concierge to help me make a reservation and he directed me to a house phone to do it myself (the house phone actually didn't work).
Several times in the morning, we received calls between 8 am and 8:30 am asking if we wanted to take part in the time share tour. Another morning wake up call was to ask if we wanted to activate our resort credits, which we had already done when we checked in. We would later run into trouble with these credits every time we attempted to use them (apparently they weren't showing up that we'd activated them several times, and the things you can actually use your credits for are very limited).
We booked golf, but only to find out if you want a decent tee time you must book 30 days in advance. It took 45 minutes to book golf (a noon tee time) (no line up, that's just how long their process takes), and a lot of paperwork and signatures.
We opted to extend our stay in Mexico and wanted to upgrade to the Grand. When we originally checked in we were told we could upgrade for $100 a night. On the night before our checkout, a timeshare representative advised us that our rate would be $800 per night to upgrade. We went to the front desk to discuss this further and the timeshare rep ran over to the front desk clerk and told him the price to sell to us. We spent the next three hours going back and forth, trying to get back to the original price we were quoted. Finally they said we could have the upgrade for $250 more per night. I then had to wait 45 minutes for them to confirm the reservation. When the reservation was confirmed, I was advised that we could go back to the original price of we were quoted for $100 more. All the while we wasted an entire morning of our vacation. We took a shuttle the Grand to pick our room and came back, which took about another 45 minutes. The next day we had planned an day activity away from the resort. We went down early to check out so we weren't late and have our luggage moved to the Grand and we were told they couldn't find the reservation we spent all morning doing the day prior. We missed our day activity and fought with the front counter to get our reservation again. When we finally made it over to the Grand, they tried to put us in a room that we didn't want, even though they confirmed our room the day prior. After further discussion and time they put us back in the room we wanted. Friends who were travelling with us were advised that the water park at the resort was running, but upon arriving they are clearly shut down. Everyone you talk to there seems to have a different idea of what's happening.
The restaurant staff and bell servicemen were the most helpful and courteous people in the whole resort and we truly appreciated their hard work. I would also like to mention that the food at the Grand is a step up from Moon Palace.
Upon checkout, the front desk and management staff didn't seem to care about our concerns and there were other people in the front lobby expressing the same concerns we had about the complete and utter disorganization of this resort. We have travelled to many large resorts in Mexico and this is by far the worst experience we have ever had. We will not be returning to this resort ever.
To add to this, we have confirmed after a doctor's visit upon returning home that our son contracted salmonella poisoning during our stay at the Moon Palace.
We have been staying at Moon Palace Nizuc for the past 5 nights, upgraded to the ambassadors suite for more room and balcony. We have tried to have coffee and chocolate milk delivered to our room every morning by leaving our door hanger room service request on the door. We have had all 5 morning without coffee or milk. We have even tried to speak with front desk 3 separate times, each time saying they have contacted food service and we will get the coffee and milk the next morning. Still no coffee or milk. You would think that after upgrading and spending a lot more money they would be able to provide you with the services they offer. Very disappointed.
Out of all of the places that I've been in the world, I love this place. It is like going to heaven. The food is delicious. The people that you meet are winners from all over the world. And the massages are top notch. You will love the golf resort.
The hotel is fantastic! Everything is brand new and so clean. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Food in every single restaurant was amazing. Such a great place!!
The last time we were here we were a couple, about 13 years ago. This trip is with our two 12-year-old birds. We are only two days into our 10 day vacation but everything is wonderful so far. The boys are having a blast with room service, as well as the pools. The teen area is interesting, but I'm not sure they are old enough to make full use of it (they still enjoy having us around). The food is good, although I could use a bit more spice, and the boys would be happy with more Canadian food. I had a bit of an accident that required some stitches;the staff was very attentive and helpful. The same incident resulted in us locking ourselves out of our safe. This posed no problem at all. Not everything is perfect, but a call or visit to the front desk is all it takes to remedy any problem. We are staying in a "family suite", which is two adjoining rooms.
Our parents are VIP Members and we just returned from our was 3rd trip to Moon Palace. We have had wonderful experiences in the past, however this past trip was horrible. We were put in a room with air conditioning that did not work. After 2 days and 3 failed attempts to fix the air conditioning we requested to move rooms and that was a big hassle, we were told there weren't any rooms available. After waiting and stating that they could not expect us to stay in a room with no air conditioning they "found" a room in the way back of the resort far away from everything that we wanted to utilize on our vacation. The room had 2 double beds instead of a king. When I asked if there was anything else as my husband and I were on vacation without our children and would like a king size bed and to be close to things we wanted to utilize, I was rudely asked what I would rather have air conditioning or a room with a good location?! Now I'm not trying to be difficult here but really, this is our vacation that we had paid good money for and didn't feel that we should have to make those sacrifices. They then were able to "find" another room with a king size bed 5 rooms down from where we originally were. By the time we finally got this figured out and we were able to move rooms it was 11pm. When we got to our new room the 1st thing we did was turn the air conditioning down. Now get this, the air conditioning didn't work right in this room either. We let it be hoping it would just take a bit to cool our room, not the case our room would not cool below 75 degrees F. This was with the air conditioning set at 65 degrees F and the air running non stop. After a few days we had called yet again to have someone come look at the air conditioning. It was not fixed, instead they bent the grading on the vents so that the air would blow towards the bed. We were also staying as VIP or "concierge" level members and did NOT receive a single upgrade that we were entitled to. When I had asked about it on our 3rd day there I was told that they would fix it and make sure we received our upgrades that we had paid for, we never got ANY of them. At this point I was tired of asking for things that we shouldn't have to ask for and complaining, I just wanted to enjoy my vacation. The pool area was horrible (only in sun rise) plastic cups and garage floating all over, very murky dirty water there was even vomit in the pool on more than one occasion. There were many other little things that bothered us as well, which wouldn't have been "ruined" our trip but with it all accumulated together made our trip not so great. We were very disappointed in our recent stay and doubt that we will ever return, which is too bad as we were looking forward to bringing our children.
If anyone is looking for a great deal on hotels you can check it out on HotelRaven. com Booked a room on there and they had the best rates around
I have to give moon palace 5 stars. We stayed in the grand for 2 weeks and will didn't get to try every restaurant. The rooms are spacious with a smart TV. 24hr Room service. What really makes moon palace stand out is the level of service provided. All the staff are very polite and can't do enough to help you.
We stayed at Moon Palace July 2016 and loved it. So we recommended it friends and went back again this August and our experience was much different than last year's. The pool at Sunrise was disgusting- trash floating everywhere. The pool area had trash around early morning such as glasses and plastic cups. If you wanted a-seat at the pool you had to reserve a chair at 6am. The beach was more disgusting than last year and it smelled like sewage. I couldn't even sit out at the pool it was so bad. Upper management were jerks and very rude. The shuttles were few and far between. I had to request soap and washcloths. One day the housekeeping maid told me she didn't have sheets to put on my bed. I feel like they focused more on the Grand and allowed Sunrise to fall apart. I made the best of my vacation but will not stay at palace resorts anymore.

I always have a great time at Moon Palace
I have been there many times - with friend and the whole family sometimes just my husband. The kids have a great time too.
Lots of activities or just relax the choice is yours. The rooms are deluxe and food is delicious. Truly all inclusive - drinks room service mini bar in room manicure massage pedicure day trips ALL included
We never have a bad time at the Moon Palace. There is so much to do and take in. You can be at the pool or relax on the beach or find the new private tiki bar by the old grand heated pool. It has something for everyone. Great for families or couples. The service is wonderful and the food is very good.
Beautiful grounds, no bad views from any room. The staff were accommodating and went out of their way to make sure our stay was relaxing and comfortable. Tons of pools, activities, dining options, and beaches. We had a wonderful stay and would recommend this resort. There was some sea grass on the beach, but they worked to keep it clean. Waves were much calmer here vs Beach Palace. While the turquoise water was more picturesque at Beach Palace, if you have younger children I'd recommend Moon Palace for the calmer waters.
We actually stayed at Sun Palace, but one of the many benefits of our stay is the ability to visit the other Palace Resorts and enjoy the same all-inclusive benefits. Moon Palace is a grand resort. It's a lot larger than Sun Palace. It's very, very beautiful! The staff at the lobby bar are very friendly and helpful. We had a great time with them! The swimming pools go on forever! There are bridges and walkways connecting them. You can truly have your own little piece of paradise! I prefer the beach at Sun Palace though.
Moon Palace Resort at Nizuc was a very lovely place to vacation. I was MOST touched by the graciousness of all of the service people. Everyone from all the restaurants, front desk, gift shops, bars were all so very respectful, gracious and kind. Everyone of them said it was 'their' pleasure to help. What? No one in the US says it's a "pleasure" to assist you! Many after saying that, said God Bless. I felt like I'd stepped into my world at least 20 years ago when people actually were kind to each other. Thank you for a wonderful vacation!
I visited the resort for a East Indian wedding. I think the resort had amazing decor options and tonnes of venues for weddings. This is a great pick for a destination wedding. The wedding ceremony was in a open air gazebo on the grass but close to the beach. I forgot to take pics but I do have pictures of the indoor reception, they had a photo booth as well. The East Indian food was surprisingly tasty but the rest of the resort food was quite greasy and salty. The resort is very big so it is easy to get lost during your first couple days. All in all, I would say this place is great for weddings but I would not go for a vacation.
