We have been to Isla 5 times and have stayed at multiple hotels, Ixchel is by far the best. Staff is great along with the best ocean views on the northern part of the island. We will be booking here from now on.

An incredible value! The service stands above in all aspects of the resort. Genuine people who are sincerely happy to provide you with an amazing vacation. We especially enjoyed having breakfast on the white sandy beach beneath an umbrella every morning. Our room was beautiful and the views spectacular. We were very spoiled. We will be back year after year.

Great hotel right on the beach. Hotel staff are unbelievably accommodating. Very clean and the pools are awesome when you are done with the sand. Only hiccup is to make sure you double check your room size before a week or two before showing up. 2 out of 3 of our rooms were not what we requested.

The standard rooms are nice, pretty spacious w/decent amenities. The suites are beautiful with lots of amenities. Beach is very nice and service was very good. Very easy walk to the city center with good restaurants and bars. North Garden is a great place to eat, you can walk there down the beach.

Do not take the regular room - it's tiny and in our building were construction - we where in honeymoon so we upgraded to the suite and it was OK.

Anyway, the receptionist was a bit rude and didn't want to move us to the other building unless we upgrading the room - it's not appropriate in my view cause they didn't tell us that they working and making so much noise during the day.

Went on a trip with some friends and stayed at Ixchel. It was awesome! Right on the beach, right down from shops and restaurants. Very convenient. And really awesome service. Everyone was really nice, good drinks at the bar and even their little restaurant. They also exchanged currency at the front desk. The room we stayed in was nice and clean. It was spacious, and the view was beautiful.

Staff would have broken their backs for us if we'd have let them. The best and friendliest staff I've ever seen at any hotel anywhere in the world. The maid was super nice and fast and accurate. You can tell they enjoy their job and work hard to make it a great experience. The location is walking distance from tons of shops and restaurants. There is a place to rent a golf-cart right outside the lobby ($50 USD per 24/hours) and the views from the rooms are phenomenal. The pools are cleaner than clean and the beach front is super nice. There is security everywhere and they even stand post overnight near the pool and beach. The lobby staff speak very good English and will help you in any way they can.

When we were leaving, one of the staff members called a taxi for us and loaded our bags. In fact, we never even unloaded our bags now that I think about it. They even brought them to our room.

Staying here now. Staff has been as friendly as can be. English spoken by all staff enough to communicate. I wouldn't call anything immaculate or perfect, but it's very clean and well maintained, rooms are well done, beds and furniture comfortable. Air conditioning has been excellent (that's a concern sometimes in Mexico.) access to beach and the hotel beach food have been excellent. Isla seems to be what playa was 10+ years ago. Quaint, less busy, more friendly. The beach and water here are dreamy!

Overall, an amazing experience. Rooms are exceptionally clean, spacious, and well-maintained, and the views off the balcony to the ocean are phenomenal. Its location is central, as the beach is a few steps one way, and shopping/dining is just a few steps the other way. Speaking of the beach, it's located right on Playa Norte which is arguably the best beach on the islands, and one of the better ones in the Caribbean. Staff is friendly and welcoming and will not hesitate to help should you need it, and the price isn't too bad either. Although there is a pool (two, in fact) I find little reason to use it considering how pristine and calm the water in the ocean is. Bars are situated on either side of the hotel which make for an impressive, yet affordable, experience should you need to get away. It is safe for families and honestly one of the few non-all inclusive places that you can reliably go to in Mexico.

Rooms are very nicely appointed with kitchenette in many. The beach is gorgeous with crystal clear waters that you can ease in for 100 yards or so. Great staff, great views, a perfect place to forget about the rest of the world. There are several local places that will let you charge your meal or drinks to your room and a couple of bars right on the beach with excellent food. If you can afford the suites with a hot tub you are in for a real treat!
