The staff is more than helpful and friendly. We travel with two small children and used our SPG point to redeem for the room. They upgraded (gold member) us to a 4 beds room with plenty of space for kids to run around. Food is good at hotel’s buffets. 1 minute walk to subway station and free shuttle to town is helpful. I highly recommend this hotel. 24 hr gym. Very clean hotel with nespresso machine.

The Westin Mitako location is superb! It had a view of the city, points of interest like shrines and temples nearby, and a train station right below. You can easily take the Tōzai line anywhere around Kyoto. The hotel itself is very nice and modern. We stayed in a Japanese style room for the experience. It was a great way to experience a little more of the culture. One thing to know is that the hotel restaurant food is definitely overpriced. I'd recommend heading out to eat and if you want some amazing coffee go to the Coffee Club which is right next to the hotel. Check out breakfast at Coffee Club for a steal of a deal!

Beautiful hotel! Much more in the traditional style than the Westin Tokyo (though that hotel is also amazing). The continental breakfast is okay but not amazing, best part is pick-your-toppings cooked omelets. The shuttle service is convenient for hitting Kyoto hot spots. Best part was the huge beds!

the staff makes you feel very welcomed and the whole atmosphere is relaxed. Inside the hotel it smells like a nice and fresh perfume. They did us a nice surprise by delivering delicious Honeymoon Cake to our room. We stayed on a non-smoking floor. There's a shuttle bus service that takes you to downtown and Kyoto Station. Great views and nice location with fresh air from the nearby woods on a hill.

The rooms are a bit dated, but still the rooms are nice. The bathroom is very modern, and everything is very clean. And the service is very good and the view is amazing. See my pics - view from our room. There is a free shuttle to Kyoto station & to city center. When in Kyoto, this is definitely a great place to stay.

Beautiful and clean, very zen. Location isn't great for food, but decent for sightseeing with the museum and zoo close by. Very expensive though, and sad that the gym and pool aren't available to hotel guests without an extra charge.

We stayed here a few years ago. Excellent hotel and I would have given them five stars if not for the shuttle driver.

We were the first to arrive at the stop but the driver took one look at us, he somehow assumed we cut in line and told us to move to the back of the line. We protested and the people behind us told him we were there before them. Then the driver had the nerve to tell us only hotel customers can use the shuttle and demanded a proof that we had a reservation.

I don't know if that was racially motivated, maybe he thought since my husband was black we couldn't afford it. There were a lot of Japanese and a few white people at the bus stop too and he didn't ask anybody else if they were staying at the hotel.

Great hotel, right next to the subway station, with big rooms (for Japanese hotels) and a great view. I don't understand why other reviewers said the hotel is dated -- it doesn't look dated to me. Recommended.

The service and the lobby were awesome, but the room itself left a bit to be desired. The bathroom was freshly remodeled and very nice. The rest of the room was showing wear Lots of dings and marks on the walls and objects, and the seams of the wallpaper showed wear and were starting to separate. However, I would stay here again for the very helpful concierge and service staff. The shuttle to Kyoto station is helpful and convenient.

Good location (right next to subway station) but hotel is dated and in need of modernization. Got upgraded to junior suite but that didn't help. Room had a weird smell, room temperature adjustment didn't work, dated room decor. Does not meet typical Westin standard. Westin Osaka, which I stayed right before this, is a much better hotel.
