Pro: Central location and great amenities. The bar waiter was wonderful. Decent breakfast buffet.
Con: the walls are thin and the banquets get very loud. I stayed in two separate rooms and both had noise issues. I could hear everything the man did next to us and all the words to the dance music, and we were on the 5th floor.
If you do not get to breakfast when it opens at 6:45am it will be packed.
Very, very overpriced. The rooms are small for what you are paying, the bathrooms are very dated in some rooms. I felt kinda scammed after seeing my room that was facing the inner roof. I had booked 6 months in advance.
With exception to the bar waiter, who was warm and had wonderful customer service, the staff felt lukewarm to me. Probably some of the coldest front desk staff I have experienced.response / report this review -

Old style hotel with old school hospitality. We loved our stay here. The bathroom stunk when we walked in, but the manager was very prompt in fixing it and the rest of the stay was great. Good location for walks along the river and short cab rides to bunch of tourist spots.

Nice location close to main shopping and restaurant streets, quite big room with huge bed and powerful wifi network free for guests.

Decent room size for Japan, although could have been cleaner. Fixtures and fittings seem like they were done 3 decades ago and could do with updating. Air conditioning can't get the temperature down in the autumn. Spa way too expensive, plenty of other options in Kyoto! Decently located place if you can get a good room price.

Great location right near Gion neighborhood. We accidentally booked a smoking room but the staff was very nice and changed us too a non smoking room. The concierge was also very helpful in reserving us dinner at a traditional kaiseki restaurant.

You can leave your luggage and they will watch it even if you're early for check in. Additionally they'll take your luggage to room, they have WiFi, provide toiletries as well, razors, tooth brushes, etc so don't panic if you forgot to bring anything. Front desk is respectful and can provide recommendations for restaurants, and places to visit. WiFi is wireless and they also have ethernet port Overall would fully recommend the hotel.

A nice hotel with good location. It's a hotel with a bit of history. The room and bath room are newly renovated, the only thing I have to point out is the air con system is a bit old with just low medium and high options but no temperature display or control
