For such an expensive room, they didn't even bother making our beds or cleaning the washroom. All they did was replace the towels and empty the trash. Completely unacceptable.

Friendly and competent staff. The beds are comfortable and the interior design is modern Japanese, minimalistic, classy and serene. The inner gardens are welcome in this modern neighbourhood.

Classic, elegant and peaceful hotel. Very close to subway and rental bike. Some lovely cafe and salon nearby. A great place to stay if you want to visit Kyoto, or traditional Japan.
BTW, nice breakfast. French toast is awesome!

Easy enough to get to from Kyoto station. Very nice location since it's so central and a lot of major lines pass through the area. The front desk is cordial and helpful. Facilities are clean and organized. I would definitely return.

The hotel is very clean & the staff is very helpful & friendly. I do feel that the 4 star rating has more to do with the hotel itself than the actual room. The rooms are very small with no room for luggage. The bathroom feels like it should be in a trailer. Our bathroom smelled for the first day (but that went away by the 2nd day). I specifically booked this hotel to use the baths they have. I realize that having tattoos is difficult in Japan & that they have different customs, I do wish it was posted online that tattoos were not allowed in the baths. I had wrongly assumed that because it was a hotel this would not be an issue. The hotel isn't to blame for this assumption, but it could be made more clear for people who aren't as familiar. Based on our room alone I feel this hotel is too expensive for what you get. I've stayed in nicer 3 1/2 star hotels in Japan.

You need everyone's passport to check-in. And you'll need to fill out these forms for each person. More annoying than other hotels, but oh well. Room is small but still a decent size. Bathroom has the basic amenities and also includes complimentary sample packs of Shiseido skincare, toothbrush and toothpaste, qtips, hairbrushes, shower caps, etc. Also 3 large bottles of shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. Hotel also supplies a good hairdryer that uses ions so it dries your hair faster without damaging it. Their breakfast buffet can be paid for when you go. Food selection is sparse, which is why I'm deducting a star, but you'll still be able to find enough to eat.

The staff make a few mistakes on the reception. Bath in this hotel is nice and hot. High level of security. Breakfast is very good with diverse dishes.

From last time I booked, the hotel had a great renovation and it became more comfortable place. The best budget hotel in Kyoto.
Reasonable, clean rooms, nice services, very nice location and it has large Japanese hot bath.

Rooms are pretty small, but everything is extra clean and very well maintained. You can use the public baths and take a plunge in a very hot water jacuzzi. The breakfast buffet is very good and has a lot of options for travelers. The staff will help you with almost everything you might need.
