I have seen many hotels in different parts of the world but this is just unbelievably “I don’t give a damn” attitude that you will get here for your own money. I have booked a standard room and what they gave me is a room from 80ies, definitely not the one from the pictures on their own site under the category “standard”. Everything is old in that room, and even the hairdryer turned yellow from time. Very strongly overused freshener to cover bad smell of WC (drainage makes horrible sound when water is flushed). When I went to reception to have the room that I booked they started telling me this is standard and they don’t have another single room. They should not be even allowed to give this room as it is just not listed anywhere in this state! Personale is useless and not customer oriented at all. On contrary - they will NOT solve the issue but blame you! A definite NO GO. Never ever again. P.S. the room is immediately opposite elevator on top of that. Shame on you #Cavour

Arrived today with my mother-in-law and I am beyond underwhelmed. My mother-in-law scored a decent room while I on the other hand will be sleeping in a less than desirable room. Upon seeing my room I went straight to front desk and demanded a cleaner room of course they’re booked and I’ll have to spend the night in a dump and hope for a better room tomorrow. I have asthma and allergies and of course the fabric headboard in my tiny room is covered in dust and is filthy. I asked if housekeeping could remedy the situation and they showed up with a duster and tact cloth in hand. Thank GOD for the iPhone I was able to use translate app and explain to housekeeping that the duster would make matters worst. I pretty much moved my tiny bed to the opposite wall that has cracks running all through it. I wish I had done booking myself instead of trusting a travel agent (which I’ll leave unnamed). Now I understand why there were no pictures of rooms on website only roof lounge and lobby. I can’t wait to head back home.

This is a fabulous hotel. We stayed for 2 nights in September 2017. I would go back in a heartbeat and recommend to anyone I know. The location is fantastic. It is only a 3 minute walk to the Duomo. The rooms are very sizable and comfortable. Breakfast is great and is served in a beautiful room. The staff is extremely helpful and speak English. The front desk recommended a wonderful restaurant for us and made a reservation. The only negative is that the bathrooms could use some updating.
The rooftop bar has a fantastic view. The drinks are overpriced, but it is what it is.response / report this review -

I think the hotel has one of the best locations in Florence, short walk form all the attractions inside the city.
The staff is very helpful and friendly. We visited the rooftop bar and found the service extremely slow.
The reason for the 4 stars and not 5 is:
Slow staff at the rooftop bar.
The shower we got had no pressure(the sower head was a water saver head, bring your own and you will be ok)
There was a bad smell in the room, it wasn't always there but it was enough for us to notice.
Over all I would recommend you to stay here if you want a central location for your stay.

Pertaining only to rooftop bar10 tables, 2 waiters and a bartender. Sat for an hour. The first drink took over 15 minutes just to place an order. Took another 10-15 to arrive. Ordered another drink at the 50 minute mark, and the waiter stopped making it just because the bartender came back from wherever, and then completely forgot about it. After waiting another 15 minutes, decided to leave. If the waitstaff was at all attentive, they would've sold me about 4 drinks, meaning the hotel left €40 on the table. That was just me. My wife probably would've had at least one more.
If you are looking for an attentive staff that is quick, look somewhere else. This bar has great views, and nothing else to offer.response / report this review -

Very lovely hotel. Stylish surroundings in the heart of Florence. our room was on the forth floor and had views of some of the near by towers. The sound from the streets echoes so does sound loud when you have the windows open. The roof terrace bar is amazing and has views galore, you do need to buy at least one drink but just sit back and enjoy. High season might be a bit too busy for most.

The hotel was great. The staff were extremely friendly, helpful and accommodating. There were just two issues with our stay there. The shower had no water pressure, and the hotel engineer considered that "normal". The hotel had also turned off the AC, so we overheated at night and since it is loud outside, we could not have the window open at night.
Outside of the aforementioned discomforts, the hotel was wonderful. There was a great view on the rooftop, the breakfast buffet was great, and although it was small, it was great to have access to a gym!response / report this review -

I have the opportunity to stay stay at the Grand Hotel Cavour a couple of times per year. the location is ideal for me because i like to run along the river in the morning and the proximity to some of the greatest art in the world is only a few minutes walk. The staff is professional and is constantly looking for ways to improve the customer experience. THEY SUCCED!!!
The rooftop bar/lounge offers views that are rare and spectacular in all of Milan

Hotel was in a good location, provided a 15 minute walk to and from the train station. The reception staff were very welcoming and friendly. The rooms, as it is a historic building were limited in their design. Our bathroom was extremely small to say the least, one person at a time is a must and if you're more than 4 feet tall, youll find it hard to shower properly. The hotel was quiet and could get a nice nights sleep. Breakfast was OK, overall this is a 3 star hotel, in a good locationnothing grand about it.
