Had a really good experience with these guys. Even if you are not an insurance kinda person, the gravel protection is essential. Then you don't need to worry about every gravel hit, (and there will be lots).

Cheap Jeep is the worst car rental company I have ever seen. They basically stole us 600 € by charging our credit card after we left the country, without any justification. They just sent us an email a week after we dropped off the car, saying that they had found damages on it and that they would charge us for that, even though they told us there were no problems with the car when we brought it back at the end of our trip. They refused to answer our claims for justification, as we did not have any issues with the car during the rental. They totally took advantage from the fact that we are living away from Iceland to charge us in a totally abusive way. I don't not recommend this company to anyone planning to rent a car in Iceland.

Excellent car we hired with excellent shuttle service. However, we were told to use Google maps and we arrived where google told us but we couldn't see anything that said CheapJeep. We saw Fair Car Rentals and asked them. They told us this was their old site. Eventually we called them and they gave us an address. I'm suggesting an edit to them. Other than that, good quality vehicle.

Service was good overall, prompt airport pickup and vehicle was ready. Very responsive to questions prior to rental. HOWEVER, we a Cadillac Escalade because we needed room for 7 . It was a TOTAL piece of junk. NOT maintained at all, ran poorly. Drivers mirror broken. A/C randomly stopped working. Radio was barely functional. Rear wiper did not work. Rear bumper was falling off. Difficulty starting at times. Left rear window didn't work at times. Terrible shape inside and out. Emailed several times with no response. 2 weeks since we've returned home and never any response from the company. I'd be very reluctant to rent a 4x4 from them and not be near a larger city with cell service. Considering we paid over $3500 to rent it, we expected much more.

Excellent service. Very welcoming on arrival, picked us up directly from the airport and gave us great advice for travelling around Iceland. The guys were great, our little 4x4 did us proud.
There were a few niggles such as a broken speaker in the car and the alarm kept going off one evening but nothing major. Excellent value for Iceland, overall highly recommended.response / report this review -

Hired online then upgraded to the Nissan frontier jimny when we arrived. Michael went out of his way to get the car I an hour. With 4 of us it was definitely essential. Great on the gravel tracks over the mountains

Staff very nice, prices very cheap BUT the cars are old and in poor condition. My one was actually illegal (no front number plate) with a broken windscreen and external mirror (safety!) and loads of annoying problems (eg very squeaky wipers). If you are on a budget then use BUT carefully check your vehicle and reject it if necessary BEFORE you drive away.

If I was to put it in a few words I would say that there is no other way to visit Iceland than in a proper 4WD, we rented a Grand Cherokee for the occasion and it was a bliss, I own a Landcruiser BJ75 and I'm used to bumpy, shaky and loud rides, in Mike's Cherokee it was like I didn't left the couch, full range of options, full auto, full easy.
The car was in a mint condition, clean, well serviced and with a great ground clearance for a rental (try to get that much clearance in a Hertz, sure they have brand new 4WD but it's just a tag and they are as low as lawnmowers and at a crazy high price)
We drove 2500km around Iceland, mostly on tracks and F-Roads and I never had to turn around, clearing gaps, ponds, rivers, mud, basalt fields always at ease, didnt even required to go into low gearbox.
Mike was very informative, accommodating and a cool local man, I will recommend his very cheap services to my friends and will surely come back to him for my next trips.
(For details I had a Grand Cherokee V8, Quadra Drive Limited, and did an average of 13.8 liters per 100km (including challenging F Road drives) not bad at all)response / report this review -
