The rental agency provided was great. The staff at the office were super nice and helpful. Shuttle from and to the airport was very easy and efficient. The rental car was in great condition and served all of our needs. Bonus - awesome rates! Would definitely recommend and use again.

Wanted to add that my name to the list of happy customers. Not only was Reykjavik auto much cheaper than renting a car through directly from the dealers they work with (our car rental agency was blue car), they were extremely responsive to emails and resolved every one of my concerns before, during, and after the rental. Seriously good people to do business with.
I asked if I could pay ahead of time because my credit card was about to discontinue rental coverage, they obliged immediately. I was frustrated when getting off the the plane because the buses to the rental companies were no where to be found, so I sent an email asking what in the hell I was supposed to do, they explained and it turns out the bus was just very behind schedule. We ended up walking to blue car as it was about a 3 minute walk from the airport and beat the lines because everyone else was waiting for a bus that was late. And lastly late Sunday night we realized our flight was leaving 5 hours after our car was due and I tried to call blue car but no one answered. I emailed Reykjavik auto, they put in an urgent request for lease extension, woke up Sunday to a confirmation that our lease was extended. This allowed us to visit more of reykjanes peninsula before our flight!
Truly great. Can't wait to go back in the summer and rent our venerable Dacia Duster again! Thank you Reykjavik Auto!response / report this review -

Great booking experience with Reykjavik Auto. Reykjavik Auto is kind of like Expedia/Priceline in that you book a car through them which is then booked through one of the popular car rental companies (Blue Car, in my case). The rates for me were best when booking through them. Additionally, they didn't include the usual insurances that come with most rental companies in Iceland (important since I relied on my credit card for rental insurance coverage).

Online booking was fast and easy. The reason for 4 star is the lack of communication between Reykjavik Auto and its provider company (Lava Auto). I have emailed Reykavik Auto regarding our pickup from our guesthouse in Keflavik but on that day, no one came to pick us up. We had waited considerably and took the decision to go by ourselves to Lava Auto. Other than this, all went well. Lava Auto cars are in good conditions and the service was pleasant and easy. Drop off was pleasant and we got free transfer to the airport. Will book from them again in the future, but will make a point in regards to details and pickup.

Absolutely great experience! we were a bit worries because you read so many crazy things about rentals out there but I totally recommend tis company. They have a great customer service, they even helped us out with some mistakes we made while booking onlineooops! but they solved it almost immeadiately when we contacted them through e-mail. Great vehicles and quite efficient!

Very friendly and helpful staff in a new company - they don't have an actual office at the airport but you get a pickup and it's no dramas. Cars were new, competitive price. I can't really fault these guys.

Reykjavik Auto rented us a car through Lava Auto. I posted the comment below on the Lava Auto review. I was very happy with Reykjavik Auto. They prompty repsonded and answered all my questions. They didn't try to upsell me to an unecessary 4x4 and told me that the Toyota Auris Station Wagon would be fine for my needs.
"I rented a car from Lava Auto (through Reykjavik Auto) this past week (January 2017). I highly recommend this company. We had a Toyota Auris Station Wagon (manual) which comfortably fit 4 guys. Car handled all the roads and conditions very well. They picked us up at the airport and we were in our car within 15 minutes of leaving the airport. At the end of the week, we dropped the car off and were back at the airport very quickly.
My only complaint was that they were 10 minutes late getting to the airport. This really wasn't a big deal at all, but it was a little stressful after taking a red-eye flight to not see the guy waiting for us.
We had the car for 8 days and it was $300 (USD), by far the cheapest deal I could find. I was skeptical at first, but everything was great."response / report this review -

We have had rented a car from Reykjavik car for one week. We chose the company based on the recommendations as well as this. We have car on their partner LAVA car in Keflavík. What we had booked, and we got it. We can only recommend. In the arrivals hall at Keflavik we not expect us to an anonymous company, but an Icelander right.

Easy pick up and drop off from the airport. Had a scare at the end when a chip was found on the windscreen. We had to pay for a windscreen replacement up front but it would be filled and if that worked then I'd only pay for the filling.
I got an email a couple weeks later to say that Reykjavik auto would pay the cost for the filling and they gave me a full refund. A great gesture and not something you'd get with many other car rental companies.
Recommend highly. And also recommend the gravel/ chip protection!response / report this review -
