Friendly, helpful staff. Food was surprisingly good. Not a lot of veg variety bit a lot of everything else. I recommend the Mexican a la carte. Breathtaking beach with crystal clear water.
We had a great 5 day stay. Beach, water, food and people are fantastic. A little far from airport 1.7 hour bus ride.
What an incredible group of staff! Just delightful encounters with all members of staff. Service is key at the resort - they pay attention and help even before you ask. The resort looks incredible considering the hurricane was too long away. The pork and chicken dishes are all fantastic. I'd stay away form the beef. We got way more than what we paid for. The area surrounding the resort is gorgeous as well.
Well, it's not the best resort out there but it was just OKAY. I think it had bed bug problems and it's drainage looked a bit disgusting. But its ocean and facility is so beautiful enough to compensate your room. In the end, we've spent most our time outside, so it really didn't matter to us.
Restaurants and hotels were Clean and people very polite. Food was good and a lot of choices. The beach was fantastic. Trips also very interesting.nice entertainment and free drinks
Beautiful vacation resort with a top grade sand beach and turquoise water. Any snapshot on the beach can be postcard worthy quality. There are a bar and a BBQ restaurant at the beach. The resort staff are very friendly and entertaining. The buffet restaurant offers many choices with good quality. Besides, there is an Italian restaurant and a Mexican restaurant in the resort. The nightly shows with a variety of dances are fun to watch. Highly recommended!
Very nice place. Very big, but fortunately you could get anywhere on foot or by electric cars :-). We didn't use them. Food in restaurants was very tasty and there was very big choice of dishes. Rooms are very clean and quite big. Beach was also very clean.
The only thing was a lots of mosquitos, but this is not hotel's fault. Take repellent with you.
I visited this resort years ago and it was listed as 5 star by the airline but was anything but. It was also listed as all-inclusive. It is important to know that a number of the resorts in the area are listed as all-inclusive, but the entertainment is at the Service Center and you pay extra. Be careful. If you don't mind paying extra, go for it. I found most things good about the resort. Food was good as well.
Note: I can't be 100% sure that this is the same place (I'm going by the picture of the round structure with the large white pillars), they change names due to the fact they change hands about every 4-5 years. The good thing about that is that they have to be brought up to par when that happens.
Beautiful beaches. Some areas in need of paint and repair. Food was okay. Staff are friendly.
Ive just had the most amazing 3 week holiday at this resort
1st the beach is beautiful and is a little piece of paradise. Its clean and u have the usual beach activites available. The hobby craft is a brilliant trip off tbe beach and you have pedalos windsurfing and canoe boats available to try.
The hotel is rustic and the grounds are taken care of with beautiful flowers and palm trees where ever you look.
The pools available are clean and well maintained
I was very happy with my room. I was supplied with drinks in my fridge daily and dressing gowns. I had fresh towels and my room was always cleaned to a high standard
I ate at all the a'la cart resturants and was never disappointed and the buffet had a huge choice of foods available. I had my chicken cooked fresh from the grill and pasta cooked then would add anything else i wanted.
The service from the staff is amazing abd any problems were sorted quickly (not that i had any)
As it was rainy season the mosquitos had a lovely lunch on us but a good repellent would distract them. And yes there are flys and insects but it you remember it is a tropical island and that you get flys anywhere you travel. How many times have you had to chase a fly in your own home!
There are shows in the theatre but not much night entertainment but if you fancy a disco or something different you can take a short walk up to the market. The market is not included ib the all inclusive package and you pay for any services and food and drink but its very reasonably priced
Overall. I have had the most amazing holiday with memories and look forward to returning
This is my second time going to cayo Santa maria with my mom . I truly love it . Everyone in the resort was so kinda and funny and it was a amazing , and Andy the one who work at the deck he was super amazing person , he also made sure i always had everything i needed on my trip , made me feel like home .
i will be back here again :)
Very good resort, friendly and helpful staff, beautiful facility, would recommend
Amazing staff and beautiful beach and resort! Little things can be fixed up like the nudity on the beach specifically in areas where there are children and families. A larger sign explaining this is not permitted would be a good start to fixing that issue. Other then that everything was so great! I also think the staff working outside should always be wearing sunglasses and working in comfortable attire for the long durations of their shifts. That is always something good to keep in mind. Happy employees = a great resort!
They have a beautiful beach, pretty good pool, good bars. Decent entertainment. There's a few things that need attention, broken bridges leading to the beach. Broken shower heads and screen doors in room. But for an affordable price and decent food good place to visit. I recommend bringing own ketchup and hot sauce. Also at the buffet stand in line for the fresh cooked meats. Much better than pre-cooked stuff under the lamps.
they don't care about the environment and you can find in the bushes a lot of broken chairs and tables.
This was my first experience in Cuba in June 2016, since it was off season half of the resort was not staffed, so we didn't have access to all amenities, but I guess that's to be expected in off season. The buffet did not have great selection, but the staff was nice, and came to clean our room every day.
To be fair this is a good resort if you want a cheap trip with great beaches, good pools, ok food and good pool side bars.
But if you are wanting a good clean 4 star luxury resort with excellent food then this is not the place.
There was also way too many biting bugs as well as flies in the eating areas. My wife and I were bitten by sand fleas and mosquitoes and we both have over 30 bites each.
The public washrooms were very dirty, smelly and I saw urinals with high levels of brown water.
So in short bring lots of bug repellent and afterbite, and maybe some Off to kill the flies at your table.
We travelled in January 2016. Beautiful beach, grounds are well maintained. Bathrooms on the beach were not usable and did not flush. I travelled with a friend and two young children, and no one fell ill but please take precautions such as antibacterial wipes and hand sanitizer. The food was repetitive but decent if you waited at the fresh grills. Pack a lot of snacks. We stayed in bungalow 53, perfect location and everything was in working order. We may have received a good location through diamond club. The kids club was usable but not what Sunwing promised on the resort website. We had trouble with minibar refills for the first two days so you'll have to hound them for water. For the price we paid, it was an acceptable vacation. Just lower your expectations, we paid double to go to the Mayan Riviera.
