Great place, reasonably priced, great staff, amazing beach. Unfortunately 6 of the 12 of us had stomach issues.

The lobby and pool area were amazing; brand new due to the hurricane. The staff was very friendly, but the rooms could use a little revamping. Lovely place for a family vacation.

Friendly staff a dining buffet is the gem of the resort. 5 star service. The common washrooms could be maintained better. The beach is pristine. The rooms are clean and solidly 3.star. The grounds are stunningly maintained. Two pools, one with a swim up bar. 24 hr snack bar by pool.

Just returned from vacationing there and would not even recommend this Resort to my worst enemy until whoever or whatever organization that is making money investments back into the services. The resort itself is beautifully layed out with mature landscaping, the beach is priceless the lodgings are spread over 2km coastline of the island. The staff try their best, friendly and hard working. What lacks is management, training, support and resources to turn this Resort into even a 1 star resort.

The food at this Resort was absolutely atrocious especially at their Grand buffet hall. The snack bar was supposed to be an alternative but the duna burger is not that great. The Romatico restaurant is the best of the a la carte restaurants in my opinion,

The pools need urgent maintenance plus uptick in water quality control. The bugs situation for rooms on the ground level was the biggest deal breaker for me and my family. Bugs spread infections it's as simple as elementary science, door lack door sweeps, balcony doors don't have screens, if the a/c in your room is down you are on your own. We reported ours to the front desk and got zero assistance except that someone is on his way! Out of a party of 8 people we all suffered from pink eye, diarrhea and other infections due to our visit to Melia Las Dunas.

For anyone intending to go there, disregard the all inclusive mantra and pack contingents because the food and drinks are garbage. With regards to avoiding infections avoid being checked into ground floor rooms and swimming in the swimming pool. Pack lots of bug spray and sun screen. If you have young kids, ketchup, maple syrup, chocolate syrup, Nutella, peanut butter and whatever your kids fancy is a must carry.

Lastly tours outside the resort are not worthy it unless spending a day being driven around an impoverished countryside with a tour guide spewing Socialistic borderline communist propaganda, "no fault of the aide, just a messed up system"

Weather was great. Rooms were clean and well kept up. The grounds were clean and kept up. Food was not so tasty but able to eat. Need to bring your own favours to the table. People (shaff) were great to talk to and very kind.

    Horror!
We are a group of 14 peoples (8 adults and 6 kids) just come back from this hotel, all come back sick with diarrhea and jellyfish bite. However our experience was terrible for several reasons:

    1) The Lobby personal was not very friendly. The service was horrible.
    2) The most of the personal are racism, they prioritize people who speak Spanish first.
    3) The night show was boring.
    4) The beach had jellyfish and most of us tasted their bite.
    5) The room with poor air conditioner (not cold at all), we have to change the room.
    6) The food wasn’t very fresh and not good at all. We all get sick with diarrhea, I mean all of the 14 peoples with no exception.

I would stay away from this resort. I will never return to this hotel.

The beach is truly great however our experience was terrible for several reason many we shared among the people who stayed at the various resorts along the coast and that I will share with you:

The food both the A la Carte and Buffet was horrible and caused stomach problems throughout the whole trip. The buffet smells rancid as well and the chairs were stained with flies everywhere.

The bedding and rooms are not reflected in the pictures well. We purchased the premium package and expected a nice room. What we got was a unclean room with stained sheets that despite cleaning and tidying we continued to find stained sheets. And I wouldn't complain about a stain or two. This was not acceptable for a 4.5 star resort. Everything in the room was and remained dirty including walls, bathroom, all replacement sheets had stains. Horrible housekeeping.

The staff although some were nice they as a whole were generally unhelpful and uncaring. Our toilet and tub backed up and for 3 days we had to stay in our room. We had multiple people listen and look at but not solve our problem. It was always, "We will send someone over right away." No one ever came or the person that did look at the problem never came back to inform us or update us on the situation. We had multiple problems and it quite literally took 6-7 calls to the front to solve any issue even something as simple as replacing beach towels.

I would stay away from this resort and book elsewhere!!

Stayed over spring break 2017, first time in Cuba. Hotel: BIG! almost 1000 rooms, lots of walking, adult side and kids side, adult side is very quiet which is nice. Food: I tasted some horrible things at the buffet but if you have time I strongly suggest to wait in line where the chef cooks your choice of meat, veggies and pasta right in front of you, I did that every time I went to the buffet and it was delicious! The à la carte restaurants were amazing! Entertainment: good 1 hour shows every night! Rooms: could use renovations and could have been cleaner but still comfortable. Water: it is cuba so there is always an issue with the water, however I never ran out of water when I needed it. I would suggest this hotel if the price is right.

Beautiful resort but way too big for melots of walking and not good for sandals.as my feet were covered by the time I had left. Beaches are top notch, pool area in the adult section was called the relax pool but was very boring.no music at all..water was clear but bottom of pool very dirty, sand, twigs from trees and small rocks..never seen anyone cleaning it. Bar staff at the pool was amazing and was the only reason that keep me coming back. Snack bar by the pool was very slow..and the food was OK. Chamber maid was awesome as well.room was clean but shower head needed to be replaced. The food at the buffets were good and the beer garden was great that served bottled Beer! Market was terrible, very few vendors, and the ones that were there were very expensive, so we did not but a lot this year. Lobby area was very nice, but the bar staff was very overwhelmed most eveningsrunning out of glasses, screwing up drinks.some of the staff was very Rude! Entertainment was short most nights and OK at best. WiFi was terribleI know that your on vacationbut we still need to make contact with back home for all different reasons.and $18 phone calls for 6 minstrel is crazy just saying. Overall nice experience, would go back if it was cheap, but still too much walking for Me!

I have mixed feelings about this resort. The beach was great. The included water sports was good (sea kayaks, short 10-minute catamaran trips off the beach, snorkeling are all included (but tips are expected) but the snorkeling gear is limited so you have to be there as soon as they open in the morning to get anything, and you have to return it in the afternoon and repeat the next day). The pools looked nice, but I was told they were colder than the ocean (we went in February). But the pools closed at 5pm. The kids/family area had a hot tub that was freezing cold. The adult pools did not have a hot tub at all. Weird. I hated that the pools closed so early. There is not much else to do there in the evening - no shopping, no swimming, theatre started late in the evening. so what do you do after dinner? Plus, the towel exchange closed too, so if you came from the beach when it closed you missed out on exchanging your towels and had to bring a dirty (possibly sand flea) infested towel to your room. Not a deal breaker, but annoying.

Anyway, I think it is a nice place, the food was very good for Cuba. They had lots of spices available (my favourite was the sea-bass which they grilled with a garlic oil, wine, salt & pepper). They had salt, pepper, ketchup and mustard available on the tables. The quality of service varied day to day. Some days it was hard to find a bathroom in working condition, other days they were not just pristine, but also decorated with fresh flower petals.

The resort is a safe place to be. It is on an island with several other resorts. No Cubans live on the island, even the resort workers are bused in each morning. There are three little villages set up on the island for tourists to shop at. One is right beside the Melia Las Dunas so it is easy to walk to. It has a hand-full of vendors that change daily (so if you see something you like, buy it, you probably won't see that vendor again). The other shopping villages are a long bus-ride or short taxi-ride away.

You will not experience the "real Cuba" here since you are secluded on an island with mostly other tourists. You can chat with the staff or the merchants in the market, but unless you do day trips into the actual cities, you won't experience Cuba - you will experience a beach resort.

I would go again if the price was right, but having been to resorts in Jamaica and Costa Rica that I enjoyed more, I would only return if I got a really great price on this Cuban resort.

There are lots of activities for young children as well as evening activities for everyone.free hobbie cat boat rides at the beach. I love the live music. The beaches have BEAUTIFUL. White sand with gentle slopes out to ocean. The rooms are OK. Lots of choice with all you can eat buffets but if you're a picky eater, this may not be your best choice. Drinks are included. There are pools for us to relax and enjoy the sun. There is a convenient swim up bar to sit and relax. The staff are very friendly. I couldn't ask for more. Forget about access to Internet while on vacation. Until Internet is available and working, I give my stay a 4 star rating.
