Very nice place ! The staff is very nice, especially Andro and Hector my favourites !! The food is very good here, better than other hotels that I've tried in Cuba so it was a nice surprise. The rooms are well cleaned, spacious shower, though the drain doesn't let the water down at a fast pace so you need to stop the water from time to time but nothing dramatic on this point. The beach is very nice and you have 2 different beach bars, one is very lively and party and the other one very calm, so whatever your vibe is, you will find the perfect place for you. Many excursions available and you are near two pueblos which are nice. Only thing they could work on is having a medical in the hotel because we had to see one and the nearest one was 8 km from the hotel. General opinion though of the hotel is it's very great and a good place to go !

stayed at this resort from April 25- May 2, 2018. This was my third time to Cuba, second to Coyo Santa Maria and this resort was my favorite. The staff were friendly and helpful, the service was impecable. They went above and beyond in customer service. The rooms were lovely, we had a room that was located in building 7, the most convenient building, we were close to everything and we had an ocean view, and located right beside one of the pools. Best food I have had in Cuba, the beach was beautiful, you could walk forever. I would highly recommend this resort!!

At the time it was all brand new and pretty large. I enjoyed my time there. There wasn't a lot of evening activities I found other than watching a show.

The beach was super nice but not very deep and when the tide comes in there is no beach in some places.

Since the place is new the plants aren't really grown yet and that was a bit disappointing but still I enjoyed it quite a bit!

Beautiful, clean and modern resort. The staff members are helpful and friendly. Even though we were able to communicate in English, they loved when we spoke the few words of Spanish that we knew. The food is good. It was my first time in Cuba and I was expecting the worse from what others have told me, but I survived. You might get tired of the buffet by day 5 so I suggest trying the restaurants.

Great resort for my first trip to Cuba. Only complaint was check-in, which took forever and left people grumpy. Resort location is sweet, near shopping and nightclubs. Beach and water is awesome, as were the pools. Plenty to do, with watersports, tennis, small games room. Nightly activities were on tap. Speaking of tap, plenty of good drinks and never a big wait for anything. Food was as expected, nothing spectacular but on par as what I'd expect of an all-in resort (who eats much anyways when it's all you can drink). I would absolutely go back to this place if I planned to visit this region again.

Excellent resort amenities, beach and food quality for Cuba. We tried an excursion to Havana and scuba diving. I recommend them both.

Great resort, amazing white sandy beach, turquoise water and Cuban rum. It's oficially 5* but that's like maybe 3.5-4.
They recovered very quickly after hurricane Irma.
Staff is friendly but there is considerable language barrier, they make it up with friendliness and helpfulness.
Gorgeous location and, stunning views, pools, landscaping and awesome bars 😉
Good for families, parties and couples. Bit for everyone in little paradise.

    Not a five star resort.
My husband and I stayed at Ocean Del Mar from January 13 to January 20. We waited over 30 mins to check in (only 2 couples ahead of us). There were two staff members behind the desk.
Our room was nice and it was always kept clean; however, there was more hot water than cold. Almost scalded ourselves. Bring your own toilet paper. And hair dryer.
The food was horrible. The 'meat' was gross. Bones in the pasta and beef?!! Gross. The scrambled eggs were cold and watery.
Customer service was very poor. If you don't tipyou're poorly served. Staff stands around and talks before acknowledging you. Mike's Cafe staff was big for poor service.
The grounds are nice but poorly maintained. Broken glass is seen on the patios and walkways. In front of our bungalow sat glass for 5 days. Numerous times staff passed it, even stepped on it. There are large holes in the ground near the sidewalks that are left opened. Lawsuit!!
Don't do any excursions. They rip you off. There is always something where you end up disappointed. We did the dolphin trip. Swim with dolphins? Ya..but for an extra charge. Order lobster for two when you do that excursion because regardless, you get chicken.
It was a beautiful resort. Too bad the staff and the food ruined it. It actually really turned us off ever going back to Cuba.

We went there for a week in January. We booked a room for 4 people two adults and two children. They gave us a room with 2 twin beds and a cot. The front desk was unfriendly and unhelpful. Even though we booked a room with pool view all they offered was a room with a king and two cots on the far end of the resort. To save our vacation we upgraded to a suit. The room was nice, kid bed option was poor. Nice hot tub in the room of course it didn't work.

Food at the snack bar was terrible. Food at the restaurants was effortless. Buffet was ok but for being somewhere tropical the fruit selection was very poor. The grilled fish at the beach bar was great.

All beverages are served in little plastic cups resolting in garbage everywhere not to mention the environmental impact.

    We will not return.

Absolutely loved every minute! The hotel is beautiful - very clean and kept up. The staff is wonderful and really took care of us everywhere. The food was great - not really sure why people complain about it. Buffet always had a great selection of cooked food as well as fresh grilled meats and fish as well as pizza's, pastas, eggs and crepes. Snack bar on the beach has fresh grilled seafood daily and amazing paella made right there! Snack bar at the pool was also amazing. Drinks and coffee were superb. The beach is absolutely STUNNING- one of the most beautiful I have ever seen. My first time in Cuba and I was expecting disappointment, but we enjoyed every minute. Big hugs to Vania and Dayan from the beach bar and chef Michel from the Buffet- they took amazing care of us! Can't wait to come back

Ocean is the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. They don't get things done for some reason, especially their customer service. It says on my booking that a bottle of rum is included in the package, but they never brought me the rum even if I almost asked them everyday. They said their staff put two bottles of rum in my room on Monday but I never saw them in my room. I had to call them many times a day for two days until they brought me a bottle of water. My father's room had many problems but they never fixed them as they promised. They said they would fix the safe in my father's room but they never did. They said they would fix the draining problem in my father's room but they never did. Every time my father showered, his room was flooded and the floor was really slippery and dangerous. I was so sick of calling them over over again for some very small requests and never got them fixed. And nobody picks up the phone for the most time. A lady at the hotel said she lost her toothbrush. Another lady lost her 20 CUCs when she was getting a massage in her room. Another girl didn't get her rum either before she left the hotel. The food was the same everyday and I heard the same complain from many other customers. I did see bad reviews before I booked this hotel but I didn't think all these things would happen to me. Now I really regret that I booked this hotel. The WestJet representative told me that he heard a lot of complains about this hotel and it's the worst in Cayo Santa Maria. I wasn't smart enough and booked this hotel. Will never go back and will tell all my friends not to go. My whole vacation was ruined because of the bad services from the hotel and the problems that were never fixed. If you ever want to book this hotel, think twice. Don't make the same mistakes I made. You will regret.

I went here for a group trip. 8 people 4 rooms

Wait staff: the waiters, room service and entertainers were GREAT.
FRONT DESK and Management- RUDE and unprofessional. when you call front desk NO ONE will pick up and when you march down to the front desk you can see that they are your ignoring calls.

Rooms: the rooms are kept well, the toilet is a low flow
HOT WATER: 3 out of the seven nights we stayed there NO HOT WATER in our building. On the third night I had enough so I went to speak to the complaint department. I was laughed at and said its just water. they did not offer to switch our rooms at all. I spoke to our AIR TRANSAT rep and she also could not get through to the hotel management and just told us to resolve the issue when we get back to CANADA.--- we did do this and it was a waste of our time

Electricity: 3 out of the seven nights we had no electricity in our building.
there was clearly something wrong with our building, we still did not get moved or comped for anything.

Key card: my whole floors room key card gets deactivated every night around 8pm the other guests in our building tried their best with air transat to move hotels but it was not possible.

FOOD: they open the buffet late, and its the same food every night. SNACK BAR. you get a option of hot dog and a ham sandwich and hot dog

Liquor: they run out of RUM and VODKA every night by 10pm

OVER ALL don't go here, don't ruin your vacay and don't waste your money.

    BUT the entertainers are amazing

Check-in was a disaster with less than satisfactory help from the front desk. However the rest of the vacation was good. The bartenders were attentive and made great drinks. The food was just OK and the service was slow. The beach was amazing, no rocks, just white sand. There was never a wait for beach or pool chairs.
The beach bars made paella, fried fish and sandwiches at lunchtime.

We stayed at Ocean Casa Del Mar from January 20 - 28.

    Good:
First and foremost - the staff. All of the staff that we encountered were kind and helpful. They took every opportunity to go above and beyond to make our stay special. From saving us our favourite seats for dinner to dusting off beach chairs by the water, they always went the extra mile.

The resort itself is very new. Everything looks fresh and modern. Our housekeeper did an excellent job not only cleaning our room but also adding flourishes each day that delighted us.

I also liked that there were two main pool areas. One that had lots of activities and one that was a bit quieter and more adult-oriented. I liked that there were plenty of spaces where we could relax without kids everywhere.

The bars were great. The drinks are consistantly well-prepared. Strange choice to use granulated sugar over simple syrup but we never complained!

The beach was absolutely gorgeous. The surrounding resorts have rocky beaches but this one is fine, white sand. The water is clear as far as you can swim. Really enjoyable snorkeling in the area. Lots of including water activities.

    Not so good:
I hate to say it but the food was not terrific. By the fifth day, we were struggling to find food that we wanted to eat. The buffet is reasonable sized with rotating dishes. At breakfast, there is an egg bar that serves really tasty omelets. At lunch, I'd recommend the pasta bar (especially if the cook with the Canadian bandana is working!). At dinner, I would recommend against the sit-down restaurants. We tried nearly all of them and were never that satisfied. The service was great but the food was not worth it.

Overall, we had an absolutely wonderful time at Ocean Casa Del Mar. If we return to Cuba, I would not hesitate to return here.

New resort. Staff very friendly, eager to please. About 2 hr bus ride from airport. If you are looking for quiet, secluded vacation you will be happy here. They are working at keeping the food temperatures warmer. Good variety at buffet.

I was here back in August 2016. The service by staff was great. Rooms were clean and new. Air conditioner never broke down. Food at the buffet was mediocre as expected but the glazed bananas at the buffet was amazing. The a la carte restaurants were also very good. The only issue we had was that the lock for the door to our balcony door was not working. We had read reviews of past guests staying in ground floor rooms having strangers attempt to enter their room in the middle of the night via balcony doors with non functioning locks. When we checked in, we requested for a room on the second floor to prevent this from happening in which they happily obliged. We resolved the non functioning lock issue by using the iron board that they provided in the room to block the door from being opened.
