This hotel was very disappointing. The manager needs to invest some money into this place. The air conditioning was not working properly and smelled of mould. The white towels were stained and obviously needed to be replaced. The pillows and bedding should have been replaced years ago. It took two days to get a beach towel after being offered a used one. The special restaurants were not as good as the buffet, and it was repetitive. The staff were great considering management has given them nothing to work with. This hotel is overrated and priced. Iberostar needs to walk through their resorts with open eyes. Customers should not have to tell them how to run a good business. Sunwing needs to stop recommending this resort.
Where do I start.the accommodations were nice..room was cleaned and fresh towels daily. The front desk staff very helpful.but the restaurant staff were all lead by the almighty dollar.the first two days there were no signs on the food selections so unless you knew what u were eating it was anyone's guessbut then management showed up the signs came out, different types of dishes with a little more taste..oh did I forget to mention DON'T FORGET THE FRANK'S RED HOT SAUCE!!!!
The food here is quite good, lots of choices for those of us that are picky and/or adventurous. However, the best part has to be the staff. They have been extremely friendly and can speak many languages which is quite impressive. Bring lots of Blue Jays gear as people will ask you for hats/branded items as tips if you are willing and that is an easy way to make friends.
The beach is quite nice and the weather has been mostly warm and clear but weather is never a guarantee. The only real downside of this particular trip is that they had started construction/demolition of one of the suites which caused quite a bit of noise during the day.
From start to finish this vacation was phenomenal. Airtranset was awesome. As this was my first time visiting Cuba I was nervous non the less as I heard horror stories about Cuba and it’s resorts. People need to get over themselves. All these resorts are well used as in hundreds of thousands a year go through them. This resort in particular was excellent. Pool, service, room, although had a few issues and by issues I mean you could tell it was well used was always cleaned. The maid did an excellent job. Fridge was stocked every second day as stated. The buffet every day was excellent. Yes a lot of the same foods where there but they always had some different dishes. I don’t know how anyone could complain really.. shows where fantastic and the staff where some of the best I’ve ever seen. Always on top of your table to refill anything you needed. The beach was wonderful and the staff where always coming by to see if you where having a good time and checking to see if you wanted to join in the dancing and games. I think anyone that goes to this resort and complains is to fussy and should stay at one of the 6000.00a week resorts so their complaints will be dealt with.
The resort is still very nice after all these years as I was here maybe 15 18 years ago. Four stars is a bit much it is getting pretty run down but they are keeping up with it fairly well the mattress in the room is all beat up there is no bed frame. Had no hot water for the first two days I was here. I like Cuba but I will be definitely looking for a newer Resort next year.
Stayed at this hotel 7 times over the last 10 years. Not much has changed. I would rate this hotel at a little under 3 stars by North American Standards. However, by Cuban standards, the rating would be a 4.5 stars. While the Cubans have the right food ingredients, the cuisine (meals) at the resorts remains bland to edible. Though, there is always something that you can choose that will satisfy and satiate your hunger. This would be a big negative if it weren't for the wonderful beaches and friendly people and the security. Though, I have noticed a decrease in service levels over the years and an increase in corruption.
The property is pretty run down and the staff was not helpful or friendly. The linens on our pillows were dirty and it took.over 2 hours to finally get clean ones - that is after calling the front desk several times and then finally going to the front desk and waiting some more. We found our room to be very run down with beds that are like slabs of concrete and mold growing everywhere in the bathroom. We did have some luck when we tipped our housekeeper and she began leaving us better quality towels for the bathroom after the first day of having paper thin ones that were so worn they were thread bare. There were many times when the dining room ran out of plates as well. I would NOT recommend this property..it was rated 4+ when we stayed but should have been a two.
Nice resort. Grounds staff friendly. Food din par and bar staff don't smile much.
Best vacation ever!!!! Best regards for Tony from bar
😁
+ for beach, - for rooms. 3 star hotel at the most. 1 room was a construction still ongoing, 2nd - front door lock broken, 3rd - mold, bugs everywhere. Safe is not attached to anything, just sitting on the table and knowing that balcony door had broken locks in all 4 rooms - what's the point of having safe in the room (unless you don't trust cleaning lady). Staying on the 4th floor at least didn't have to think about it. 3rd time in Cuba, I'm not recommending it. Beach was very good (but it's very good for most Varadero hotels), food as in Cuba, but minimal variety compare to previous 2 places. Some staff was extremely friendly, some a very grumpy (pool bar was the worst)
1 star for hotel rooms
3.5 stars for hotel grounds
4 stars for most staff
5 stars for beach.
Beautiful people! The hotel was just getting over Hurricane Irma , but they had worked hard and it was almost back to normal. The rooms were large, and due to the AC and humidity, were very musty. The resort was very well set out with things to do all the time. Some things were not there, like the supposed all night snack bar which I needed one night after too much alcohol indulgence Fantastic shows every night. The weather when I went was beautiful and the beaches were fantastic. Alas, Irma had damaged the reefs and stirred up the ocean, so my underwater camera was pretty useless. Had a great time! The beach party was awesome. Food was very strange.we really had to pick through to find things we liked and then stuck with them. Much of it had a weird smell and taste. We both ended up with diarrhea somehow which followed off home. But glad we went and had a fun time! Do the catamaran tour! Well worth it. Finally. Notable staff! Wendy as front desk. Yaciel and Tony the waiters and I think it was Dee Dee or Cee Cee in the restaurant. You all made my stay fantastic!
We have been to varadero many times, 3 picky women, .. by far the best resort yet! Friendly helpful staff, great food, and good entertainment when we could stay up!! Beaches are beautiful, chairs are plentiful. Stayed in the 17 building close to everything. Booked again for February
Staff extremely friendly and helpful. Rooms are dated despite the partial bathroom renos. Food was so so however certainly didn't go hungry but probably our least favorite buffet on our 7th visit to Cuba. Beach never disappoints.
Great hotel to stay in, even though the furniture is kind of dated, still it is a very clean place with very friendly stuff who will do their best to make your stay as pleasent as possible. There are always some small hicups, like not having enough clean beach towels to replace the used ones (you are eligible to do it once a day), but who replaces even own beach towels every day :) . The foodbis great, much greater varity than I really need on a vacation. For those who drink, the variety is reallly wide ! No imported beer though, but their draught beer is great. Huge rooms, like a single bedroom apt., huge , American style bathroom, cleaned every day. Nothing else to say, you need to stay in it to experience it.
Excellent all inclusive in Cuba. Spent 8 days and 7 nights here. As this resort is in a different country, which is under different circumstances, you must think of things relatively. The food was great, and had variation. There was also nightly live entertainment around the resort, the most exciting being at the theater. With unlimited drinks and food, what's not to enjoy! Rooms, while they could be better, were good enough for sleeping.
Was a nice resort. Staff was friendly. Don't recommend staying on the ground floor, more bugs. Rooms clean, but the small attention to details are missed. The resort itself was nice. Pool is large. A bit more staff for cleaning around the place would be helpful, as we saw a broken glass next to a walkway which over 4 days, was never picked up. The shows, music and dancing were entertaining. Drinks, nice and cold.
Lovely place. A little small but nice. Staff was very friendly. Beach is very shallow even after you walk over 25 feet. Some areas in beach are very rocky and hurt your feet. Shows are nice to watch and servers are great constantly asking if you want something to drink. Make sure you get a room on the third floor very nice as I heard stories of bugs on lower levels. Food is also good for Cuba that is.
Would recommend going here! The rooms were clean the resort had amazing workers which made the trip fun! The food wasn't good but it's Cuba.
We just got back from a holiday from this resort. The staff were great at the buffet, the food was well done, though 5 out of 7 came back with some stomach and bowels issues. (could of been the water, hard to get bottled water) The surroundings and ocean was wonderful. As for the living space not so great. Our room was very musty and the water situation was not good at all. Cold , cool, hardly ever hot water for showers or baths. We paid a lot of money expected much better accommodations. It was a time to rest and tour some sights and that was achieved!
