Amazing experience here, went with my grandmother, sister, girl friend and her family. Staff is supper friendly and treats you like family. Food was amazing every night, tried all of the different food restaurants they had. All of them were different style of restaurants but the food was I great at each one. They had nice pools that were clean every single morning and night. They had a great beachline to walk down that was Private to just The Melia resorts so no strangers or locals walking the beach. We did have a problem with one of the guests and talk with security and had everything dealt with extremely efficiently. Would definitely go back again
Great vacation. Resort is gorgeous. Look for the safe 30-foot sandy stretch to enter the sea. Friendly staff. Look for Kenya in the buffet -- a sweetheart. Also Abel in the Trinidad - nicest guy. Matte, the manager there is extremely nice too. Only complaint, buffet is terrible with cold food. Hasn't Cube ever heard of gas heating, propane, or even a can of Sterno? Order freshly made omelettes. Avoid all stews -- they seem not to understand it takes hours to tenderize tough meats. Don't go there before March. Weather unstable earlier.
As listed a four star hotel. All inclusive.
They cater to the tourist very well. Very clean and well looked after hotel. We counted 7 restaurants + the main cafeteria. The rooms were nice. Don't expect soft mattresses like in the western world. Fantastic beach with a small Coral area for snorkeling. Nightly entertainment was very good. Always something going on.
Level 5 the best all inclusive bring your own cup for drinks on beach. Great breakfasts and snacks. elevators tricky questionable beach rocky In some places food not so good. It's winter in February so weather unpredictable.
Entertainment very little Cuban flavor and very touristy.
Activities if one wants lots beach and water volley ball etc got to play pickleball on yeah
Pro extremely helpful and accommodation.
I had a great time here. The staff are beyond nice and accommodating. The food is decent and the pools and beach are very nice
Pretty good hotel.
I have a few minor issues, the main one being the doors banging to the rooms with no apparent sound proofing. You can here everything going on in the corridors.
Cleanliness seems to be an issue in Cuba generally.
The buffet can be hit and miss with the temperature of food and drink also.
This place was fabulous!
We paid the extra to get the "Level" and well worth the money! Quiet place to eat sandwiches and have a great coffee or drink. Staff was exceptional on the level!
The resort is very nice. The food is not good (I got bad food poisoning from the Tex Mex). The alcohol selection is one of the best Iv seen at a resort with many different types and years of alcohol. In Jan the pool was not heated or they kept replacing the water because the ocean was warmer then the pool. Noone was in the pool the week we were there. The beach is very nice. Tons of available beach chairs. The resort was nice and quiet no crazy partiers. But they did have some shows and music/ fashion shows in the lobby bar (but not as extravagant as you would see in Mexico). Beautiful hotel grounds. Lovely staff that would do everything they could for you. Please bring lots of tips and donations for them.
Spent a wonderful week at this resort in January. In spite of the less than tropical weather, we were very impressed by the superior service of the staff. In particular, the staff on the Level were exceptional. We will recommend this place to any friends who go to Cuba and plan to return with our kids and grandsons.
Amazing hotel. One of the most beautiful beaches Iāve seen in the world. WiFi is available for a few but thatās expected when you go to Cuba. Highly recommend this hotel. And the town of Veradero is so fun.
Facilities are better than i expected. Breakfast buffet is awesome. All of a la carte restaurants are so so nice. The only one thing they should change is room. We stayed in standard room but it is like motel. They are 5star hotel but rooms are not that high quality.
Great little place with some typical Cuban issues that can easily be overlooked
HOTEL DONT LOOK REALLY IN A GOOD HAPE AND I OYT A SECURITY THAT ALMOST DONT LET ME IN AT ONE STORE BECAUSE I WAS NOT STAYING AT THE HOTEL, IT IS NORMAL IN CUBA TO HAVE THIS KIND OF ISSUES.NEED TO BE CHANGE
Loved the view hotel food. Very courteous staff. Clean hotel
It's definitely not a five stars hotel, maybe three stars. The food was average. I saw a few cockroaches running in the restaurant, in the food was hairs and eggshells
Great hotel though certain aspects erratic as they are in all of Cuba. Impressed though. Very good hotel.
1 star on my western perspective. Still 3 stars on a Cuban-tourist perspective.
This really is not a 5 star hotel even on a local perspective. Go, and try it out for yourself if you don't believe it:
Staff re-uses cutlery, glasses and dinner plates although it's been used by others. If it's clean by sight it will be re-used! Usually it's not clean. It IS used. Careful there. That goes for all restaurants or snack bars.
Staff is also consequently not able to fix the breakfast or dinner tables on time. Or any time. Collect your cutlery or what is missing for yourself from tables around in the standard restaurant. Especially breakfast is the horror.
Don't drink the so called orange juice. It's water that looks yellow. Nothing more.
Staff will definitely forget your order! The staff in the CafƩ is particularly guilty here. They can't keep a thing in their mind. But they will forget the stuff that they write down as well :) after three days you'll simply laugh at it because then you know how it works.
Escalators could use a software update. Not good organized and too much waiting times.
Warm water in the shower usually takes around 10 mins even at off-peak times.
Good location in the middle of the peninsula and next to a large mall if you need something that is not included (e.g. sun cream, way cheaper there). Buena Vista Social Club (1.5 hrs) on Wednesdays is also there.
Almost clean rooms with all you need incl. wifi availability in the rooms (which is not common on Cuba). Though 3 CUC per hour instead of 2 CUC. ETECSA won't work. If you need ETECSA go to the Plaza America mall next to the hotel (see above).
Loads of buffet food with the usual "quality" (guests are pigs, too: e.g. food gets put back even after it's been touched or it's been on the dinner plate etc.), long walks between room, restaurant, beach.
Some of the staff is not well-trained when it comes to basic English.
For a bit more quality when it comes to food, ambiente, guests etc. go to the in-house "Steak House"! Or probably one of the others, too - haven't been to the others, though.
(Spent 4 nights all-inclusive in room 4509 in December 2016. All that's written above happened on all days and did not happen on just a single occasion)
Nice hotel in Varadero. The beach is extremely beautiful and clean. It is only a 5 star hotel according to Cuban standards, it seems like some of the rooms haven't been renovated for a couple of years and do not seem up to date. Food is okay, they have a few special restaurants, which increases the variety.
To start, I have taken into account that this is Cuba and that I am not an all-inclusive person. It took 3 hours to get here from Havana by cab (100 CUC one way).
Hotel is located just passed the golf course.
The Great:
Plenty of above average food and drink
Rooms are spacious, clean and have balconies
Hotel is airy and large. Many areas for outdoor seating.
Staff tries to be helpful
Local car rental on site
Internet cafe on site
Flexible with checkout
The Good:
Beach is average. About 20 feet out into the water the sea floor is covered with large stones covered in moss.
Loud music is played on the beach by the staff from 9 am - 4 pm. Hard to find a quiet place on the beach to relax.
Limited number of beach umbrellas
Average entertainment options nightly
The Bad:
Bars run out of mint for mojitos nightly
Reservations for specialty restaurants have to be made by 3 pm (check in time). Thus you miss this option on your first night and have to eat at the buffet. We tried calling for assistance but had no luck
Very good experience, we stayed at the Varadero at the level and everyone there went out of their way to make our stay a memorable one. Elsita the chambermaid was super nice! Humberto the man that was in charge at the beach for the level could not have been nicer,( the water was crystal clear )also our driver Eduardo , he drove a new air conditioned van and took us to every place we asked him ,always with a smile. The only thing I did not like was the food, I thought it was going to be typical Cuban food and it was not.all in all Great experience will recommend!
Good hotel but in some rooms the window didn't close. Clean and comfort room. Except the damaged window. 3 CUC per hour for internet access ! Excellent and helpful staff. The best who I met in Cuba! Multiple choices and rice breakfast and meals. Many happening during the day.
Melia Varadero was awesome. The rooms were spotless the food was good (the pizza was not so good but hey it's cuba). They only have one choice of red wine that is inclusive and it was a spanish wine with a very bland taste so opt for the pina coladas or expect to spend more money for a nicer bottle. The Japanese restaurant did not have saki which was a disappointment and their wasabi was bland. We stayed on the level with an ocean view. The water was spectacular, we loved it. The one suggestion I have is that it would be nicer if the beds were not so firm. We will return soon with our family.
Just came back from Melia . This is an old outdated hotel with beautiful beach . Food was good , decent choices , ladies at buffet lunch room very friendly ( Judith Julie ,Betsy , Maydol etc ). But that would be about it . Miserable and unhappy staff . No smile or small chat . Poor service, too long of a wait . They should be trained by Joaquin (our waiter from Trinidad restaurant ) . He was all together a nice gentleman with smile on his face , trying to make your dinning experience great . Hotel has lots of issues : wi fi cards for instance. You buy those for 3 Pessos /1 hour . 20 min later you can not log in ( timed out). Second issues : cards for the doors . I have exchanged mine 10 times . And was told " it was my mistake since it was being held in my purse , close to my cell ". No apology for the inconvenience, nothing . Than , my brand new parfum was gone ! From my room ! I couldn't comprehend that someone would do that ! And than you report it just to get questioned: are you sure you had it ? Etc . An awful experience. Would not go back
I stayed there for 5 nights and everythings was great, swimming pool was nice and big, very beautiful beach, good food at the buffet and great selection of restaurants to make reservations at for dinner, very friendly front desk agents and amazing entertainment crew, especially Alex, he did his best to make everyone happy and participate in different activities. I also liked the location of the hotel as it's only about 30minutes away from the airport and close to Plaza America. The only bad thing is the internet connection, it was very expensive and wasn't working all the time, also, you have to count your change, I was giving short change on multiple occasions and had to ask the lady to double checkI definitely recommend this resort.
They have thieves there!!! We were stay there for 8 days! Everything you left in the hotel they will take as their own! I saw a google review regarding the same problem but I never thought it's gonna happened to me! Stay away this hotel! Worst experience ever!!!
Always a great experience. Bernard and his staff do a wonderful job of taking care of us every time we visit. Of course we shall return next year again. Thank you for making this our favourite place to be every December.
