Amazing resort!! every single person that works here is focused on making your experience a memorable one, helpful, friendly, courteous, attentive, I can't say enough good things about it. food was excellent, beach was amazing, pools are large and well kept, highly recommend.
My husband and I were married there in 2011 and the resort was amazing. The food, service, beach and entertainment all amazing. We went back for our anniversary April 2018 and it was if nothing changed! Still amazing! Can't wait to go back again.
The room was clean, tidy and spacious. Most of the staff were polite. Upon arrival, I had to wait for the receptionist to finish her personal chat with someone else. We were standing there waiting to check in and it didn’t bother her at all.
The food in the private restaurants was terrible. Especially the “Japanese”one. I got food poisoning after that. The meat served was not cooked properly. The mini restaurants serve exactly the same food as the main dining hall. I found the main dinning area way better because of the options provided.
Another issue was that on two occasions staff tried to enter our room without knocking. The first time was at 9pm which I was asleep. So imagine hearing your door open when you are sleeping.
Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this hotel. I stayed in Iberostar in Havana before Varadero and it was excellent.
Food are better than most of places and rooms are clean. You can enjoy it if nothing goes wrong. If there is any little problem hotel staff panic, stress and rude. I left there with bitter taste.
I have been in Cuba 3 times and each times i enjoyed less. Price wise Cuban hotels ask a lot when you think what do they offer. If there is problem people say '' this is Cuba" but prices like New York
We liked very much. We want to go back. Food was very good in the cafeteria and Mediterenean restaurant. Service is very good everywhere. One only problem occurred in the reception. We were given wrong information about our bus to the airport however it was corrected by the concierge. Everyone working in the hotel is very friendly.
Great hotel, staff super friendly, food good and a fantastic beach and pool. Don't expect the latest super tech or boutique luxury, switch off and unwind. Bring repellant as the local wildlife do like to feast on the tourists
Great service, great beach. Good food For Cuba. Excellent vacation. Special thanks to the beach bar servers, and pool bar girls. literally walk up to you and serve drinks. Giovanni from the beach was awesome
What an amazing place! From day one we were overwhelmed by how friendly and welcoming the people were. Maybe I didn't love the food so much but the drinks were plenty to make up for that. Some of the staff there we're truly unforgettable. Jessica thank you for everything, you made our vacation what it was. Highly recommend this Resort and destination to anyone looking for an escape from winter.
Great beach! The staff are all super friendly! The food is probably the best that I've had in Cuba out of my 7 visits to different hotels over the years.
I'd definitely recommend the Iberostar.
I had spent a great time here until yesterday. Terrible customer service and food quality (food was not fresh) at La Parrilla restaurant. Today, I left the room early in the morning and I came back at 4 pm and it had not been cleaned yet. I called customer service and had to wait almost an our until they made the room
We had a great experience here at the iberostar Varadero resort. The beach around it was nice and the pools were perfect. The swim up bar was convenient and having a gym and a more private pool near there was great! We went to a wedding on the beach and it was set up perfectly! Lots of fun activities to see and do at the resort, they really make your stay enjoyable! The only thing is it’s 2 hours to get to Havana from here! Cuba is way bigger than I thought!
Nice hotel, but way too touristy, you will not find the real Cuba here! A bit like Blackpool/Benedorm for Canadians :(
Shame really!
Stayed here a couple of years ago. Going back to this side of the world this year but would not go back to this hotel.
The hotel sits on a lovely beach and there is a great swimming pool. Rooms are nice and gardens well tendered.
However, foods not great and my husband ended up with food poisoning. Not sure if it was from the Japanese restaurant or the shell fish being cooked on the beach. Lack of air conditioning in some of the public areas and entertainment was dire.
Cuba is a great country and we spent 4 days in Havana and 10 days at this hotel in Varadera.
Awesome place great people great food great weather Charlie and Eduardo at beach bar were amazing super guy's
Wow!!! To sum up my experience in one word. The immediate impression was that of awe. The place is stunning. Immediately we were met with friendly warm faces. The staff are super friendly and we made some great connections. The food was not as bad as we were led to believe it would be. A strategy we employed during our 5 day stay was to only go for made to order items so we could control the ingredients. The beach is out of this world but be sure to bring your sunscreen and repellant because the sun is hot and the bugs are biting. The shows are incredible the only draw back is that u have to pay for internet. 2 converted pesos per hour. We racked up a small fortune needing to check on business. Going off the resort is a must we recommend Havana day trip and also going to eat off of the resort. The sea food off of the resort is the best i have ever tasted. Cuba does Lobster like a boss. Rooms are nice and relaxing and the maids darling. We are already planning to go back next year. It was a wonderful anniversary trip.
The rooms are nice and spacious. Communal ares are good too. Only dined at the main restaurant and not impressed. Being a veggie it hard to find food that had no fish or meat. Several times I found meat in my veggie food! Disgusting. Not happy.
Very nice resort and a beautiful place to stay. Of course, this isn't Cuba, so if you're wanting to discover Cuba then this is not the place to go to. If you're just looking for sun, beach, pools and lots of bars and food however, then this is just great!
The staff is very friendly and well trained.
Took one star off cause our bed linnen was stained, on both beds. And they should clear tables completely after people have eaten there. Since they don't, it has happened more than once that some dirty cutlery has been overlooked.
But other than that - perfect!
a very BAD BAD HOTEL - nightmare hotel - iberostar robs & cheats me & refuse to refund $1500.00 FAKE ROOM UPGRADE - stay away from this mess of a rotten experience with crooked & thieving iberostar nasty rotten thieves - STAY SOMEWHERE ELSE - WARNING
Really great suits and grounds are lush with trees and flowers but something is seriously missing from this hotel and have been to many better ones in Cuba. Varadero its self is boring but if it's just a beach holiday you want them it's an ok place it don't expect much from the good which was the biggest let down every day during our two week stay
My wife and I were at Iberostar Varadero in September of 2016. My biggest complaint is the fact that they initially gave us a room with two double beds instead of one king or queen size bed. It wouldn't be a big deal but we had to wait until the next day in the afternoon for them to give us a proper room. This is really inconvenient as we weren't able to unpack and get comfortable on the first day. For some reason in Cuba we ALWAYS have to switch the first room we are given because there is obvious issues with it.
The beach is amazing at this hotel, it's always clean, no grass on it, no grass inside the water that you're stepping on, you're getting the nice Cuban sand all the time you're there. There is always more than enough beach chairs and sun umbrellas. This is definitely a BIG plus. They are building another bar at the beach so I expect that this place will be even better in the future.
Restaurants are great, I would recommend everyone to make an appointment at the Japanese restaurant.
Shows were great, they had a big amphitheater, the staff was always nice. We weren't annoyed by anyone trying to sell us things. People tried but once they got the idea that you're uninterested they didn't bother too much.
Great friendly staff, amazingly kept grounds, good food and drink options, clean rooms, nightly entertainment, daily activities (such as volleyball and air rifle target shooting). *note* bring travel adapters for phones, laptops, etc
Set in beautiful grounds, quality a la cart restaurants. Rooms are a little dated by modern standards. Came here for a beach wedding in 2010, and
have to say the setting was spot on.
Waitress staff here were fantastic, and will always remember the extra
efforts made by Yanellis.
Overall, excellent, but rooms could do with a facelift.
