The place is good. Kept in good shape. Do not expect anything spectacular. Food is a OK considering Cuba is under embargo. Staff is friendly and beach is great.
Nice hotel in perfect location. Don’t get stressed by the huge outside, inside it’s very good structured. The bay view room was spacious and always clean. From the balcony the sunrise looks great. Fresh bottle of water and soft drinks every day. Big selection of tasty food. The best is the beach with enough shadow places nearby the turquoise sea. The pool area in the palm garden is lovely as well. Bus stop is very close by to explore the peninsula.
The hotel is pretty and the food is good. The room is nice also. But when I had an issue that I lost my shoes from their storage their response has been so bad., they said they would double check and email me but no emails and as I reported about it through their website again, there is no answer yet.
Amazing resort. Kind staff. Definetely worth the price
The problem with being all inclusive is that it pushes them to try to make profit by minimising cost. Nothing was terrible, but nothing was good
Photographed a wedding here a while back and it was amazing. People always talk about the food in Cuba being bad, it was actually really good here! (hoping it hasn't changed in the past few years since I've been there)
We stayed there for a couple of days for a relaxing all inclusive resort.
The hotel it’s not really beautiful from outside but from inside it’s really cool!
We upgraded to the renovated rooms for only 10$ more which is a great deal because it gives you access to all a la carte restaurant with no extra cost!
The room was great and had amazingly n views to the ocean! The beach is beautiful and great to do some exercise such as running (7km total) or swimming!
The food is fine but don’t expect great fine dinning: the buffet has a good variety but everything is average. The restaurant a la carte are better than the buffet but still not great food.
The hotel offers a lot of activities as entertainment, we didn’t do many but the beach volleyball was great fun!
The staff is really friendly and helpful!
Great hotel, with real friendly staff. Love the loungers on the grassy areas. Beach is lovely. Easy to travel to Havana from this location
I cannot say enough good things about my stay at the Blau Varadero! The staff (from check in, maids, bartenders, servers and everyone else) were friendly, accommodating and over all amazing! The food was out of this world, flavourful and so many choices, enough to please even the pickiest eater! This was my first time visiting Cuba and I am already planning my next trip and of course I will be staying at the Blau!
Best resort in the peninsula. Food, animation, service, location, clean. You won't regret. And rest assure, one week won't be enough.
The only downside: from August/November 2016 it's an adults only hotel & resort.
Very well run resort with all the features of a 5 star. The building is aging gracefully andd being maintained very well. Spacious, clean rooms and very friendly staff. Spectacular beachfront and many nautical activities lile sailing, snorkeling and scuba diving available right from the hotel. The food is ok and the variety of it makes up for its basic blandness. I never had a spectacular meal but never had a bad one either. Cuba is not known for awesome food so don't expect too much anywhere
This was a very good resort when we last came five years ago. Unfortunately its food standards have slipped downhill
Tables in the buffet restaurant aren't wiped clean between one diner and the next, meaning you are expected to sit at a table with other people's food debris. In the a la carte restaurant the fish we ordered 'well done' was served still pink inside. Chicken at the lunchtime grill hut was also served undercooked. The same with fish at the beach bar. The staff are all really lovely people and work hard, most of them with a big smile. We shouldn't have gone back expecting it to be the same. We won't go back again.
Great beach, very friendly and helpful staff, good food and a wide variety of drinks. We had rather low expectations regarding the food because of what we heard about Cuba, but it turned out to be more than acceptable.
The hotel itself is not new and rooms could use a little refresh, but everything was clean and in good working order. I highly recommend.
We only had 5 short days, however we loved our time at the Blau! The beach was beautiful - we got lounges every day, no problem. Food was better than many Cuban resorts - especially the International restaurant (Mmmm, lobster!) Service was excellent at the restaurants, bars and front desk. Our 'Select' room had a great view and lots of room.
Overall, a great place for a beach holiday!
A hotel I would use again, superb staff very clean even if it is little dated , undergoing major refurbishment of rooms at this present time.
I didnt know what to expect but this hotel was excellent had everything that you needed
Absolutely amazing holiday and stress free booking. Everything was arranged for us and couldn’t fault The Holiday Place. I would book again and the rep at the resort is very helpful and friendly.
Hotel is great, amazing beach, had a sea view room (highly recommend). Staff all helpful and room maid (Lily) kept our room looking fresh and clean. Food, well it’s all you can eat buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner. If it doesn’t get eaten at breakfast, your see it out for lunch. Al carte resturant booking recommended. Cuban coffee is amazing, it’s a shame the hotel have very good espresso machines, but I struggled to get a decent cup of coffee. Perhaps training staff in a coffee barista course. Take your own cooler cup as the small plastic bar cups aren’t enough for even 4 sips, then you find yourself at the bar again getting a re-fill.
No need to rush down to Reserve a sun bed, it’s very peaceful and relaxing. Adult only and what a difference it makes to get some quiet sun hours. Overall, I would definitely book again, but I’d take my own coffee and poolside cups, but that’s me being picky! The Holiday Place will be my choice to book with again next time! Thank you.
Had a great stay here 3 months ago. AC would be our only complaint as it smelled when you entered the room and then I guess our noses got accustomed and you didn't notice the smell later. Over all good stay, wasn't the best hotel we stayed at but for the price we paid (discounted because of the time of year) we have no complaints.
Great staff and entertainment, private beach is outstanding, rooms nice and clean, hotel is quite outdates but understandably since its in Cuba
We had a wonderful stay last year and we wish all the best to the kind people of the hotel, at Varadero and in Cuba.
We just left this week.
All these 4-5 star reviews must be employees. Traveling from N America, I have been to many resorts all over US , Mexico, Hi, etc. The food was below average, Air conditioning horrible ( smelled in my room) and pool area broken. Drinks on beach and pool were not to be accepted.
Don't expect your expectations high. Maybe for Cuba this is 4-5 starnot anywhere else
We had a lovely stay on the resort. The inside area was a little hot but when you go to your rooms the air con feels nice and cool. Lovely pool area and beach. We were only there for 3 nights and that was enough for us after visiting Havana and Trinidad. It was a nice relaxing end to the break. There was a lot of choice in food. Breakfast had a massive variety - cereals, hams, cheese, bread, pancakes, full English breakfast, fruit, yoghurt etc. My favourite were were the waffles with maple syrup and egg on toast. Lunch was a BBQ or buffet with lots of variety. The only downside was that the salads didn't look appetising as there were flies swanning around them. Perhaps the salad dishes could have a cover to prevent the flies. Dinner was a buffet or you could book the Mexican restaurant. We did t get a chance. To go there. Rooms were clean. The wifi was not that good but otherwise brilliant. There were some lovely cocktails given to us and a massive choice.
Amazing place. Really enjoyed ourselves on our holidays. Amazing staff. Would highly recommend.
the service is better than excellent. staff are friendly and will satisfy all your needs.
the building is all smoking so are all the rooms. there's nothing that some aorfreshner cannot deal with
there's security throughout the premises patrolling and all that don't belong are asked to leave even the beach area.
there are programs and activities to join
some shops are open during the day just in case you need some daily stuff or souvenirs.
buy your rum here instead at the airport save some cash
I went to Blau with my brother for a week long vacation. When we arrived we noticed that the age range was populated more to 50-60 year olds.
But, this quickly changed as more people arrived!
Things to know:
Blau is very popular for Europeans and Canadians, but there are many more Europeans here.
Blau had some great food, but nothing very spicy.
Blau was obviously the best resort on the beach, it is the tallest and you can always find it at night.
The service was great! The 24 hour beach bar was the best! Some great bartenders with amazing character.
Blau can easily be as relaxing or as adventurous as you want it to be, there is always something going on, but you can also relax anywhere in the hotel, by the pool or at the beach.
Like any resort, spots on the beach fill up fast.
I hope if you read this you will strongly consider Blau Varadero as your vacation spot. And if you go, say Hi to Oscar the bartender for me!
Haven't been here in a few years but this is still one of my favourite places.
It's just the perfect place, I have stayed here 15 times, it's my bit of happiness.
Pretty good hotel. The food (while the biggest selection) was actually very good.
Very nice all inclusive hotel for adults only located at the beautiful peninsula of Varadero.
Both pool and beach are top notch. Staff is great and it's an excellent starting point for first time Cuba travelers that offers many opportunities to start discover its rich cultural blend of people, food and drinks. Not to forget their famous cigars and music.
Havana can be reached in two to three hours of relaxed drive, extremely enjoyable if you take a one day tour in one of the beautiful oldtimer cars.
Varadero beach is 20 km long. Take the opportunity and go for a nice walk. If you want to explore other areas outside the many hotels, try the marina or Varadero city. Both nice excursions that can be combined with souvenirs shopping.
The water on the north shore of Cuba is as crystal clear as at the south shore but a slightly but cooler. Enjoy scuba diving, snorkeling or just swimming. It's absolutely beautiful.
Had a great time here. The rooms were nice and clean. Food was good. Beaches are perfect. Staff friendly. Good coffee in the morning and mojitos in the evening!
