Awesome place! Had some issues with the rooms but they sorted it out real quick. Staff always are friendly and professional. Had a rest time overall and would definitely recommend this location to anyone else. Always tip nice too

Beautiful resort and beach, great location, fresh seafood available every day.
The Good:
- some of the staff are super friendly and helpful
- everything worked in the hotel room, thankfully
- food was decent, although it was almost the same menu every day
- great facilities to chill around the resort by the pools or the beach
- the unlimited drinks (although they started to downsize the cup sizes)
The Bad:
- Not enough bottled water. Okay, there's nowhere else to buy bottled water, and they limit you to 1 bottle per room every day. The 3 of us always had to go to front desk where the staff grudgingly gave us water after asking "didnt you already get one?" Making us feel guilty by asking for a necessity. We were told to not drink tap water, then what are we supposed to drink? On our last day of checkout, we were told "Sorry my dear, we don't put water in your room on your checkout date". Overall, water was limited and that was quite annoying. Especially when it's Cuba and 30 C outside.
- Bedroom super dusty, had my allergies going. They broom the room which makes it worse, and don't actually 'clean' the room. Bathroom was clean though.
- Toilet leaked, could not flush regularly. We figured it out though by filling in the water tank on our own with a bottle. You have to wait an hour or two before the tank fills up again to flush.
- Bed uncomfortable. We had a small cot in our room that felt like sleeping on the floor. We had to squeeze in the double beds provided instead.
- Bathroom cleanliness. The public washrooms in the lobby areas often have no toilet paper and are gross. One stall had poop on the floor and it smelled. It often had no hand soap.
- Towels: always had a spot or stain on them, not sure how they clean their towels.
- Some rude staff. The buffet staff sometimes ignored us and did not offer drinks, as if they don't even see us. Some just want to get it over with and be done with it. The front desk staff are indifferent and don't give a hoot whether you have a good experience or not. My experience in Havana was different, where staff were warm and friendly.
Overall, it was a good stay. Just felt like resources were limited, like water bottles, soap, toilet paper and towels.response / report this review -

Great time here at memories. Beach was so beautiful and a awesome beach buffet/ bar within walking distance. Super friendly staff and a even more friendly maid. Always nightly activities going on. Little room mix up when we arrived but hey can't expect the world to be perfect! After speaking with the front desk everything was good. Buffet food was good and can't complain. Highly recommend this resort, me and my friends all had a blast and stayed safe. Staff is friendly and resort is beautiful.

Don't listen to the complainers on here whining about stuff like "I had to walk to a lobby to get a coffee". Its an amazing Cuban cafe, so shut up and appreciate it. Food was awesome, rooms were decent, Cubans were great and booze was fantastic. Beach was fantastic and so was the pool.
Its a poor country and you can get this place for $750-900 easy, so stop the complaints. I've paid that much for just flights here in Canada. Don't hesitate to check it out, unless you're just gonna whine about stupid minor issues.response / report this review -

Giving this a 3* because I need coffee in the morning when I wake up. Had to go to the lobby and sometimes wait for 25 minutes to get a coffee as I'm not the only one that needs it. One espresso machine and makes one cup at a time. Would be so much easier to make a few pots and people just go up and refill. Bathrooms often out of toilet paper. Fell down the 3 stairs coming out of lobby as it was so dark and didn't see them. Food was good, waitresses were very nice and would call us to their section every day.

This is a great place for a holiday. The price value for what you get is right on the money. The people here are extremely Pleasant and happy to have you stay at their Resort. There a little run down after the hurricane but they are working very hard to get things straightened out and it is getting back on track very quickly.

The resort is below average.
Because the rooms are not clean and there is mould in the bathroom and balcony. There is a lot of food but poor in taste. Depending on the waiter their mood but don't act very friendly.
At breakfast there is a singing cook baking omelettes very kind lady.response / report this review -

I was here 26 Dec 2017 - 2 Jan 2018 in all inclusive mode. Fine resort, everything worked, food and drinks without problems. Internal pools and the beach are beautiful. Entertainment and cultural programs in good quality. For me it was not a problem, but be aware of largeness of this resort, from beach to main lobby it is approximatelly 1km distance.

Great value for money resort. Please, avoid if you want an authentic Cuban experience. This is a massive complex, fully oriented towards the needs of foreign tourists. Conversely, go here, if you want a ‘worry-free’ sun vacation and you are not that picky when it comes to food quality.

Food was top tier (for Varadero) and the workers were nice. Clean rooms, but for some reason none of the bathroom doors anywhere on the resort have a way to actually close. Beautiful beach but it was about 9 minutes away from my room. However the room was close to the general dining area so that was good. Beach grill had good burgers but I got food poisoning from an undercooked one. Wonderful pools! Bar was OK but signs with non alcoholic drinks would be appreciated. Bring a mug/thermos/cup as the ones provided are tiny! Night shows were good but the Michael Jackson is played out. All in all, Memories was great fun and a good trip. Would return.

Great value for your moneyif your a spoiled Canadian, spend the extra money and go to Mexico or D.R, you are in Cuba,you get what you pay forlove the resort, extremely friendly staff, the food gets better every year, the beach and liquor are fantasticgoing back a fourth time.

Horrible!! Went for 5 nights and ran to a lot of issues with the hotel. To check in I was in the lobby for 4 hours because of the lack of staff and I thought it was only that day but no everyday there were people complaining about how long it took to check in people would spent the entire day in the lobby. The food was not that good as they mainly only had one type of fish and chicken and most of the drinks were watered down. But what really upset me was that the pool started to get green and I asked variable staff members and they all said the hotel didn't have supplies to clean the pool yet they leave it open full of bacteria and germs not caring about there guest. Never going back!

Rooms weren't very clean or upkept, beds are very uncomfortable and the food was terrible. We went off the resort to eat out a few times. They just didn't have very many fresh fruits and vegetables. On the plus side, we got to enjoy great Cuban weather by a beautiful beach and met some awesome people, so we enjoyed the trip anyways. I definitely wouldn't go there again though. By Canadian standards, these rooms are comparable to those you'd find in a 2 star hotel.

Paradise! Beautiful beach! Did not wana leave!! Booked Diamond club, friendly staff, rooms and service were great. Open bar was fantastic, their espressos are good!! Food was so so but still enjoyed it so much!! The Japanese restaurant was awesome, Teppanyaki style, Chef was awesome!! They have live shows going on too. A lot of activities, a gym, a theatre, a hair salon and a small shop!! Oh and no internet unless you pay like old times and its super slow not worth it; just try to Unplug, it feels good!!

I realize this is a very long post, but I just want people to BEWARE before booking this place!!
Pros: beautiful beach with soft sand and clear waters. Ample chairs and umbrellas. Good coffee in the lobby.
Cons: Rooms were not very clean, the sink was clogged when we arrived, several times throughout the trip our water shut off in the middle of the day. We had two adjoining rooms and one of them had a an ant problem (ants coming out of the sink, crawling along the walls and on the beds too (incl. dead ones). Towels and bedsheets had stains on them (e.g. blood on the sheets)!!!! The public bathrooms throughout the resort were always either clogged, out of toilet paper, or just plain disgusting.
Food is mediocre and poorly handled. It has several restaurants listed, but only a few were actually open. Try to book them and they're always booked up. On the days we did get in, there were only a handful of tables open, which maybe explains why they were always booked up.
Some of the staff are rude - one guy driving a cart (that is supposed to transport you to and from beach) sped past us to avoid stopping to pick us up (their was one customer sitting in it). When we complained about the bedsheets stating we expected more from a 4-star resort, the girl at the front desk informed us that it was actually only a 3.5 star resort - so EXPECT stained bedsheets???? They collect your passports when you arrive and then you are supposed to retrieve them later. Two out of the seven passports we handed over got "lost" and it took them awhile to find them!! Two men (staff) barged into our rooms TWICE! They came in using their key (no knocking first) to drop off pop." My sister had just stepped out of her shower and was wrapped in a towel (luckily). A few minutes later, they came back in AGAIN WITHOUT KNOCKING because they dropped off the pop in the WRONG room!!!??!? Don't go here if you can avoid it. The substandard rooms are disgustingly dirty. The food you take a risk with it. 2 weeks after I returned I'm still feeling like crap. Beef and chicken underneath the counter by the grill uncovered unrefrigerated!! I will never go back to Cuba for this reason. From 2012 to now it's changed where the people want everything you have and will try to barter the clothes right off you. Sunwing's standards are about the same.

The room was decent - we had few issues but most of them were fixed. However, the beds were not very comfortable. The towels or sheets do not get replaced, so bear that in mind.
The food was decent, but went down in quality when the resort got busy.
The beach was great, but watch out for sand fleas!
There is also no disco, only a small area inside the theater.
The staff was friendly, and the entertainment was great.
Biggest issue: no toilet paper or soap on the public washrooms. Had to walk all the way back to our room, or bring some with us. People would use the washroom and then the buffet, which would spread germs. We all got sick due to the poor hygienic conditions.
We paid ~900 each for this resort - we will be paying a bit more to go to a nicer one next time.response / report this review -

This is one of the worse resorts we have ever stayed in.
The resort is dirty, you don't who staff are b/c they don't all wear uniforms, diamond club is a joke don't spend the extra money on it, the diamond beach serve was never around lucky if you seen her once a day, don't ask for cola lite b/c you will have a hard time getting it, the public washrooms never had toilet paper in them and always dirty. The one by the Japan restaurant doesn't offer you soap to wash your hands. Only good report I have on this resort was your maid and the 2 servers in the Diamond Club. Such a shame that management doesn't care and is letting a resort go down hill. The barpool was yellow from all the piss in it. food was gross. Don't waste your money on this hotel try a different hotel Cuba is a gorgeous and people are so friendly there but just not on this resort.response / report this review -

I had a great stay and really enjoyed my time at the resort. The rooms were clean and the staff were very friendly. The beach is very nice. The food was a bit of a hit and miss. At best the food was alright, and there were a few instances where the food was very cold. But overall I had a great time!
