It's a great location, great value for solo traveller in Vancouver. It's located in the middle of the heart of Vancouver, with restaurants, convenience stores, bus stops and sky train.

Never stayed in a hostel before, but this was a good experience. Bathrooms were clean. There were some stray hairs found in my bed, but other than that the bedrooms were clean too. Free breakfast was something fun to look forward to. Would stay here again.

It's pretty reasonable, but I was expecting nice rooms and better facilities. No en suite bathroom, and no power sockets or reading lights on the beds. But great breakfast though

The location is really good, close to public transportation and restaurants. However the building needs renovation, the rooms, floor, public areas are really lacking improvements. Ive to other great HI hostels around the world, this one needs to do better.

Good structure, amazing staff. Breakfast is very complete and tasty. Great location and nice night programs. Good beds also, very clean washrooms as well.

The bunk was fine and the locker was a good size. The free breakfast was pretty good. Shower was a little small, but nice temperature. The location is good, stuff nearby is very walkable. Be aware that there are a couple strip clubs along the same street if that kind of thing would bother you.

Nothing too fancy. Breakfast in the morning is included, bathrooms are fine. About what I expected to be honest. Good for the price.

I've stayed a few times and am always happy with the HI-Vancouver Central. It is an oldish building but is always wonderfully clean. The free breakfast is a basic spread of bagels, muffins and bread but they do supply some fruit as well.

Surprisingly quiet. I guess the rival hostel across the street is the party spot.

Some people have written that the locale is sketchy, but it really isn't that bad.

Location is very good, a few minutes walk from the shopping centre and art gallery with a bus stop right outside. Rooms are a bit small and wooden bunk bed is difficult to climb and is prone to movement. Additionally, there are no power outlets near my bed so it is extremely inconvenient to charge electronics. There are also no tables or chairs so it is hard to sit down and chat or organise your stuff unless you do if on your bed. However, the lockers are very spacious. Service is reasonable, staff are friendly enough but don't really go out of their way to show you the ropes and events aren't as streamlined as other hostels.

Inexpensive accommodation, but also very spartan and run down. The elevator is out of service and the fridge in the kitchen doesn't work. There is a free breakfast every day but it doesn't start until 8 AM so it won't help if you have early plans. So yeah, cheap, but you get what you pay for

I was there at the end of March 2017. I would give HI-Central Vancouver 5 stars for the cleanliness, kitchen, common areas, rooms, atmosphere, security, closeness to transportation and downtown. 4.5 stars for the friendliness of the staff. 4 stars for the lack of access to wifi or reasonable speeds in my 3rd floor room (I went to the kitchen/common areas to get wifi). My room had bunk beds separated by a wall (or something), there was good privacy, I could hear noise from outside during the night while our window was open, the lockers could fit bags, my roommates were awesome and the bed was comfortable. The several private washrooms were definitely a plus and clean.

Of the two places I stayed in Vancouver, I would definitely choose HI-Vancouver Central over across the street. I'll be back again!

The rooms are dated and the decor needs updating. Staff are great and can provide brilliant advice for bars and restaurants in the area

The rooms are fairly clean though not as clean as some other HI hostels. The lockers are very large and free breakfast and towels are included. The location is good, I would recommend this hostel. The wifi leaves a little to be desired.

Good stay, not sound proof to the streets, if you are a light sleeper might not bode well for you!

The staff are well versed, know the deals around town, and how to get there.

Beds are clean but I had weird crumbs or something on my covers that hit my face when I pulled the covers over. This is why I deducted 2 stars. This is a good hostel overall!
