Booked via 2 different online companies, tried to organise so that we didnt have to switch rooms but was told they were unable to accommodate because they were at capcity which is understandable. Checked out after the first night and received an upgrade to a 2 bedroom apartment its quite excessive for 2 people but it was a nice gesture. The staff are friendly and there are nice facilities.
Its hotel is conveniently located in melb cbd and close to the city trams for easy transport.
There hot water seemed to have a bit of a problem. On the first day we had sufficient hot water but then the water was only warm the day after.

Second time here and once again it was great. Great location. Close to shops restaurants and an easy cab ride to Flemington for the Melbourne Cup. Thanks Paul for looking after us and the rest of the staff.

Every time I visit Melbourne I stay with them. Good service nice location. However, the facility is getting old and seems like not been properly managed or replace. Good in price for the package, but if you looking for more comfortable and stylish room. This might not be your choice

Two nights, Executive King suite room: 1011

Overall the stay at Somerset on Elizabeth was positive. A highlight was the location. Central to Bourke Street Mall, shops and restaurants almost everything is in walking distance. Recommend Manchester Press for breakfast/brunch and Brother Baba Budan for coffee.

The room was adequate when compared to the pictures advertised. The carpeted area which included the bedroom, lounge area were as advertised. However the tiled area including the kitchen, bathroom and hall were outdated in comparison to the rest of the room. Then again, I'm nitpicking here.

Highly recommend Somerset for a families wanting a central experience of Melbourne City.

The rooms are nice, and if you're lucky you'll get a view too (we didn't). TV is basic, and some of the appliances are well worn, but everything is adequate. Small but usable kitchen (with the usual blunt knives) and washer/dryer means you can stay in and cook to save a bit of cash. And being on Elizabeth St means you are close to everything too. There's even a gym/pool on the 4th floor (also didn't use).
Only thing I didn't like was the cleaning/laundry trolleys constantly being left in the hallways. Minor complaint however.

Comfortable and clean. Felt a bit clinical instead of cozy. Free wifi which is a bonus.
