Old modern. The staff was very accommodating but the interior lacked in the quality we expected. The bed was very comfortable but there was no auxiliary to play music and the room needed updating, for example, even the toilet seat was scratched up and stained. Also the hotel itself lacked self parking and valet costs the $39 per night I believe.
Very friendly and courteous staff. The bed was comfortable and so was the washroom. There were no coffee/tea facilities in the room. Very dim lighting, no led. We had buffet breakfast served every day on the top floor with good quality but bery little variety and the exact same stuff everyday. Imagine a breakfast with no pancakes, waffles nor French toast. The main problem is that the hotel itself needs renovation. It is somewhat shabby.
The W Midtown is very chic, and trendy from the outside. The wonderful social areas such as the Living Room, Elevate and the Living Room Stairway are all fun, and create an amazing area for social dialogue. However, my favorite space in the hotel happened to be the hideaway grotto under the stairway.
My reason for giving this hotel a three star rating is that the hotel is in desperate need of some TLC. The upholstery in many of the common areas as well as the headboard in the room was torn and just looked like I should have paid $79.99 at the red roof inn. Also, the rooms are full of amenities ranging from snacks to Patron to umbrellas and finally an "adult" package. However, 75% of the snacks in my room were out of date and way over priced.
Also, the process at the front desk was horrible and needs an update. We were locked out of our rooms at one point and had to go check out, and back in because of a rate change for the last night. The hotel boasts a chauffeuring service for any rides within a 5 mile radius, and out of the whole week we spent here only one night were we able to use this. The rest of the time we were told no one was available to drive, yet the vehicle was in use prior to and after asking - basically, we were lied to.
Room and staff were great. Parking staff was quick to get our car and very easy to deal with. Half the elevators broke the day we left which sucked though. And they forgot to mention that dogs incur a $100 deep cleaning fee when I booked AND during check in :(
The ONLY reason I am giving this venue 2 stars is because I typically have a satisfactory experience here. My company has held several events at the W Midtown; the staff is very pleasant and helpful, and the hotel is clean and up to date. I most recently attended the Will and Grace premiere party, and the bartender pictured almost ruined the whole experience. For an employee who serves customers, she was absolutely horrid. She possessed zero customer service skills, the most unfriendly nature, no facial expressions or apparent desire to do her job at all. Because of the huge turnout, the bar was backed up to about a 45 minute wait, but this employee showed no empathy, no smiling face-- no BASIC human interaction skills at all. They need to get rid of this vermin. It's people like her that poison a company image and ruin guest experience. Maybe stocking shelves or cleaning toilets is a more suitable profession for this individual.
Staff, was super helpful and tried to get my room ready for me faster when I arrived a few hours early. Rooms were very clean and well maintained. Lighting in the room was a little dark, but not bad once I found the light switches. Very modern look and feel to everything.
It's an excellent upscale hotel that has two restaurants and two bars in it on different floors within it. The service was prompt and excellent. The rooms and the hotel itself is clean and well kept. It's in an excellent location that's convenient to everything.
Okay visit but have to make sure you are getting what you paid for. Missed food with meal, forgot drink tickets and free valet service, forgot to bring dog bed and bowl, and discount on spa services. Don't offer the services if you don't plan on honoring them. Also, my room was next to a door the maid staff came in and out of and they started speaking loudly and slamming doors early in the morning. And to top it off I found a roach in a my room this morning. Now wondering if I should shake my stuff before leaving. Staff nice and room was clean and nice.
Nice rooms, great location. I had a great stay except when we were told the wrong room number (even written incorrectly on our room key sleeve) and the people yelling and pounding on a door in our hall around 6am. It's hard to attribute that second inconvenience to the hotel, though. All of the staff were very helpful and friendly, and again the location is great. Prices for room service were outrageous ($20 for chicken fingers after the 30% fees and $4 delivery charge) and a bag of M&Ms from the snack bar were $6. Bring your own food or plan on eating out.
I did not stay at The W Midtown but my sister stayed there recently. She was in Atlanta to participate in the Atlanta Food & Wine Festival. My older sister and I decided to treat her to a gift sent to her room as a surprise. We ordered off their star amenities website and were given an option to write a note to accompany the note. When she arrived to her room the bottle of champagne was there but there was no note. We called the hotel front desk and let them know the note never went to the room and asked that they make sure the note gets delivered. They said they would look into why it wasn't delivered and ensured us that they would deliver it. It NEVER came. On top of it all, another sibling of ours ordered a beautiful fruit basket to be delivered the following morning which they NEVER received! I would expect that at the very least that they would have promptly corrected their mistake and delivered the note after the fact but to not deliver the other gift adds insult to injury. I can only image the poor service you would receive by actually staying there.
Nice hotel not good if you have small kids. Love the staff they was friendly and helpful. Love the room security. Love the convenience to eatery and the park. I didn't like the idea I paid $400 plus for two nights and the room was not clean, chair worn, dust on desk, blankets and sheets torn. The TV did work and when it did come on it went straight to a paid movie(they did take it off bill) I didn't like the shower(the door was two short) or the soap. Wouldn't stay again.
The hotel is located in great neighborhood of Midtown with a prime location close to restaurants, bars, clubs, whatever your scene may be. Piedmont park is stone through away. The hotel is your typical W with all the bells and whistles. I would definitely recommend it! The staff is friendly and very helpful. We had a situation where we needed to extend our reservation by one more night and the hotel manager was able to make it work.
Super modern hotel with amazing staff and very hospitable service throughout the hotel. Everyone seemed eager and happy to help. The only down side was the room itself. It was clean and had all the necessary accommodations but the bathroom shower did feel up to par with the rest of the experience. If I were to pinpoint it, I would say the lack of a shower door left me feeling as though I have stayed in nicer hotels. Overall I was happy with my experience but in all honesty, I would be open to trying another hotel on my next visit to Midtown Atlanta.
The W is exceptionally well designed, but be careful: every knick knack in the room is awkwardly priced well beyond anything you'd imagine. Yes, it's all labeled clearly in the room. But, seriously, why would someone pay more for a cocktail or shack in their room than they would pay downstairs in the bar, restaurant, or store? Speaking of which, it's kinda hilarious they charge a delivery fee and 30% surcharge on room service items. That certainly wasn't as clear as it could be, and it made no sense. It's one modest-footprint high-rise building. You have to pay for their employees to make a two minute trip inside an elevator?
