Quick service, best prices, and amazing food. I got the crab stuffed flounder which was amazing. The crab cakes were good and the shrimp and grits were good. The she-crab soup was the best we had in Charleston. This place should be rated five stars.
A pound of crab legs for $20. Amazing. Very happy with everything!
Solid steamed seafood and quick service. We will definitely be back. Oysters, mussels, clams and crab legs were all perfect.n
Very good food. We ate night before Thanksgiving. The kitchen and staff were short-handed, so we were there a long time, but it was worth the wait. The food was excellent. The stuffed flounder and crab cakes were really good.
We came from out of town and was getting late. They were open, we got seated quickly and had a big group. Was pleased with the service and had a decent amount of food portions.
These workers go above and beyond the call of duty. The service is amazing, the staff is friendly, and the food is phenomenal. I highly reccomend this restaurant. Good prices, too!
Our first time in this area. Picked out this place and was not dissappointed at all. Nice staff and the very best shrimp n okra n she crab soup I've ever ate. Homemade key lime pie was awesome. Could have ate a whole pie lol it was that good !
Great experience! Had the crab stuffed flounder and it was delicious. Wife had the crab cake and fried shrimp and it was excellent. We were stuffed when we left! Mo was our waitress and she was superb!
Our family was in a day trip to Charleston and searched for local seafood. Food was great. Wait time to be seated was minimum. Staff courteous and pleasant. Restaurant was clean. Staff promptly cleaned the tables as soon as the guests departed. Will definitely go there again.
Love the food. We have quite a few allergies and they catered to them wonderfully. The first time we went, it took about 15minutes after we were seated for someone to talk to us. The second time the service was just terribly slow and drink sat empty for longer than 5 minutes at a time. Would be 5 stars if they got the service bit together.
My wife and I just left there a little while ago. We are on our honeymoon and are staying nearby. We were craving seafood, so I Googled nearby seafood restaurants and found the West Ashley Crab Shack. We walked in and was greeted by a friendly man named Kenny. We were promptly seated and brought drinks. I ordered the fried flounder and shrimp while my wife ordered fried shrimp and crab cakes. Being picky seafood eaters, we didn't know what to expect, however, we were overwhelmingly happy with our food! It was exactly what we were looking for! We both received heaping portions and couldn't finish it all, which was sad because it was so good. A man, whom I assume was the owner, came by to personally check on us and thank is for coming in. Between the excellent food, great service, and atmosphere, we couldn't have been more pleased in our selection for dinner. Thank you West Ashley Crab Shack!
1. Soup was at 156 degrees :bowl of She Crab soup
2. Soup actually had real medium pieces of crab😁; not over the top
3. Container for take out may be reconsidered due to spills & temperature
4. To go area had trash by waiting spot😔& food items by entrance of restaurant
5. No signage outside for peanut allergies 😡

Came for Sunday dinner and arrived right before 4:00. We were told there was a 20-30 minute wait. We got seated at 5:10. The waiter didn't show up until almost 20 mins later and that's I finally stopped someone and asked. Who just happened to be our waiter. We have received our drinks and are now waiting to eat. It's 5:25. We have a concert to attend at 6:30. This was ridiculous. We will not be eating here again.
I found this gem on Google Maps, hidden just off Route 17 and just outside downtown Charleston. I arrived around 6pm but fortunately no crowd yet for a Friday night, and was warmly greeted and quickly seated. Huge drink and dinner menu, featuring an excellent selection of fresh local seafood including crabs, flounder, oysters, shrimp, and scallops fried steamed or broiled. Loved the She-crab soup, raw oysters on the half shell, and fried Captains Platter. Took home a slice of their terrific homemade Key Lime pie. Service was outstanding and efficient. Highly recommend this family owned restaurant.
