Cheap rooms (small but great for one or two nights). You may have to get used to the shared bathrooms, but I found them clean and perfectly acceptable. The location is great near a ton of good restaurants, the high line, and 14th St subway stations. I will be staying there again.

Bunks are TINY. While initially it seemed neat, it is very difficult for 2 people to stand up and do anything in the rooms. The entire floor WREAKED of cigarette smoke - and that's coming a smoker! Also, my BIGGEST COMPLAINT is the temperature. The AC in the room is a joke. When you walk it, you immediately start sweating. Turn on the AC, to full blast, and an hour and a half later you're still sweating. We had an "engineer" sent to our room to check it out. It was fruitless. I sweat my ass off every night (in December), so good luck on not getting my bed. If you're excited to check out the rooftop bar you're going to be in for disappointment. They book private events constantly. We were able to experience it once out of 4 nights, and only after having the pleasure of spending $18 on a Jameson on the rocks. The cleaning staff is super friendly. The place looks like something out of a Wes Anderson film, but there's no need to stay here. Just visit.

Fantastic hotel with a real charm. A unique style. When you stay here make sure to check out the club downstairs Nd get in early as you get a real nice experience, it's such a cozzy yet stylish place.
Bunk bed rooms are real tiny but you don't need to spend much time in them anyway :)response / report this review -

Beautiful hotel with rich history. Rooms are very small, however you shouldn't spend lot of time in room, while being in such interesting city. Rooms and toilets are clean, regularly maintained. Hotel is easy to find, few hundred meters from High Line Tour begining. Nearby there is shop where food could be bought and eaten in nearby pier.

I came to Jane Hotel for early-ish drinks around 9pm. They have two bars: one bar has a really nice outdoor view of the river and Jersey City. ~$10-12 per drink, but they make nice drinks.. The second bar is downstairs and it's really cool! They have a fireplace and cool/strange artwork. I'd definitely come back!

I have stayed here twice before in the last 5 years, and always sung its praises. This last 4 nights we spent here though we're pretty hit-and-miss though. The rooftop bar is lovely. The price for a bunk cabin is pretty good! But we were put on a smoking floor which stank, and unlike my previous visits, the shared shower was mouldy and smelled of urine. On our last night, I was woken at 3am by the music from the bar (now "club") on the ground floor, and we were on the 3rd floor! The service is sometimes nice, sometimes lazy, sometimes outright dismissive.

Very beautiful historic hotel. The staff is very friendly. The neighborhood the hotel is located at is beautiful. Nice restaurants a couple blocks away at the meat packing district. Across the street Is a Nice kids park next to the water and views of the skyline.

I stayed in one of the cabins with shared bath. The cabin is TINY! However, it's so well laid out I really didn't mind and I"m 6'6". The bathrooms are very nice and absolutely spotless. The hotel decor is simply astounding; even if you don't stay here do yourself a favor and check it out. This is where the survivors of the Titanic stayed during the public inquest into the disaster. Despite being largely a budget hotel the service was more like a 5 star. One day I was going out and between the time I left my room and when I got outside it started raining. While I stood at the entrance trying to decide if I should go buy a cheap umbrella, a bellhop asked if I'd like an umbrella. I didn't ask because seriously, who expects a budget hotel to hand out umbrellas? I was really impressed. Also, Jane St has cobblestones and the neighbourhood is beautiful- the West Village at it's best. After you're done sightseeing do yourself a favor and take an evening stroll along the Hudson River Greenway across the road for stunning views of lower Manhattan and New Jersey.

3rd visit. Perfect for a short trip to NYC for concerts, sport events or sight seeing. Single rooms are small as a navy ship cabin but enough space for luggage, you and a cycle if you do the Triathlon like I did this time. Great location, amazing roof top bar with view over the Hudson and even better service. Communal showers that are clean and supplied with conditioner and lovely smelling shower gel. Plus the room comes with slippers, dressing gown and plenty of towels.

Hotel staff very friendly, bartenders not so much. The bar area itself is very nice, worth checking out. When I left, there was a very long line to get in on a Saturday night.

My first time staying at the Jane Hotel I felt at home extremely friendly staff , Bellman, clean room was my first time ever sharing unisex bathroom extremely clean friendly guest no one bothers you. Good restaurant opens up in the morning had my breakfast & coffee very cool rooftop bar must visit again bringing my daughter & sister next trip to NYC great location & restaurants nearby.

About the club: Great décor, ambiance and music was fine. No cover, expensive drinks. Got in a fight with someone who purposely poured a bottle of vodka on me and was carrying a weapon in his vest. This means bouncers don't screen and when people around told them what was going on nothing was done. Still, this must not happen often and I'd go back to show a tourist.

We went to the ballroom for drinks and dancing. We arrived around midnight and we were surprised that there was no cover. It was quite packed, but lively and we enjoyed the atmosphere. There was a lot to look at. For the number of people in the bar, the wait for drinks wasn't too long. The music was perfect for us. It was a good mix of dance music over the past 3 decades. We loved it!

For those of you looking for reviews for the hotel itself - unfortunately a lot of the low star ratings out there (esp. on Yelp) appear to be due to the poor reviews of the outside company that manages the nightclub that the bar/ballroom turns into on Friday/Saturday nights. I strongly recommend popping into the bar around 5:00-6:00pm for a drink before heading out for the night (and before the location turns into a 20-somethings club) - enjoying a beverage on a comfy couch in the ballroom is great and the room is a sight not-to-be-missed.
We just stayed for the 3rd time at the Jane - and it was as great as always. Check-in/check-out was a breeze, our room was ready earlier than expected, and housekeeping did a phenomenal job throughout our stay. This stay was in a Captain's Cabin, but we have stayed in the standard bunk bed cabins before and were pleased (but the Captain's Cabin is by far more roomy and has a private bath). Its location in the West Village is perfect - great shopping and dining in the area, and just a short walk to the subway. The theming of this hotel is one of the key points that keeps us coming back for more - think Grand Budapest Hotel meets the old Adventurer's Club at Walt Disney's World's now defunct Pleasure Island (which I miss dearly - RIP).
A prime location at a great price for a hotel in NYC - doesn't get any better. We'll definitely be back again soon.response / report this review
