Location was good. Staff was good. Rooms were nice and clean. The only downside was the room being the smallest hotel room I've ever seen! Maybe 2 feet of walking space along the perimeter of the bed. That being said, everything else was great!

For my needs, I give it 4 stars. It was purely a room so my friends and I don’t need to drive back. I had room on the 5th floor with two beds, yes the rooms were small, but it’s no different that European hotels. It was relatively quiet for a room with a view of Houston st. The beds were probably 6” away from each other, but they were comfy. The pillows were one of the most comfy of any hotels I have stayed in. Honestly, it was probably the best, the bed/pillow combo.
If I ever need a room in the city for a crash pad, this is my go to place.
Note, I’m a lifetime Marriott Platinum member with over 2,500 nights to my name and another 1,200 nights with Hyatt as a Lifetime Globalist member. I also average 250k butt in seat miles a year on panes..so, I was super delighted at this property. Better than any Fairfield in my opinion.

The hotel is decent and has all the basic amenities. The rooms are small but just enough if you will be out and about all day and need only a bed at night to rest. It's clean and the house keeping is good. The front desk staff Peter and Sami are very helpful. The hotel is very close to a Subway station (accessibility can be an issue as there is no elevator or escalator) a whole foods store next to the hotel and the oldest knish (potato filled sweet and savoury food) in the same building. Good for a quick bite before you head out. The location is ideal for bars and has a happening night life scene. One issue, the rooms are not sound proof so if you are a light sleeper, you may have an issue from all the traffic and street noise. Would stay here again.

This was a pretty bad hotel all things considered - it's the epitome of the saying "you get what you pay for". The staff were incredibly nice and warm but the rooms and the general hotel were quite terrible. My room was in a basement - I've never seen anything like that before and it was miniaturized - it was tiny. The bed looked like a double but it was a single with tiny pillows. I had a desk that was tiny, just pay close attention to the remote control vs the size of the bed. My window was looking into the sidewalk and people could also see into my room, you could also see (from the outside) other people's rooms as well. It's absolutely ridiculous when you think about it. The doors for some reason had an industrial closing mechanism on them which made them slam shut every time - it woke me up every time someone was leaving and I'm not even a light sleeper. The elevator was noisy and generally everything could be heard all over. The room initially had a bar of soap in a box which was clearly used - it was wrapped in a tissue paper.

The rooms are small but Anthony was able to upgrade one of it to a bigger queen for me and that helped a lot. This type of small bedrooms are so common in NYC hotels, but Gatsby's rooms are clean, quiet and in good shape. The other hotel staff was also helpful allowing me checkout late. The toilet in my bathroom had an issue since the moment I got there, it wouldn't stop filling fresh water sometimes, but I guess this was trivial. Thank you for the great services.

It's a small hotel just south of the East Village. Only 7 floors and probably 70 rooms so it has a much more personal feel. The rooms are very small but clean and have modern furniture and fixtures. I think the main negatives would be the dingy hallways and elevator and lack of an ice machine.

Super-friendly and helpful staff! Great location near Chinatown and restaurants. Very close to Subway. Only tiny complaints, which were handled very well by concierge: We had a basement room without a fridge or microwave to start, and would have been nice to get a warning about this - but they very kindly moved us upstairs to a park-facing view at the soonest availability. Ice machine is located in the lobby and only accessed by asking the staff. Rooms were very clean and well-kept. Even though it was an uncommonly hot summer, the A/C worked beautifully. Staff did something very uncommon - They kindly shrugged off the fact that we had booked one too many nights. This was our first stay in this part of NYC, and I could easily recommend the Gatsby for another stay!

Really not that great. Dust all over the rooms, also they like to display their toiletries in the front window it looks very unprofessional and they charge the same as the Trump Soho there is a way too many good hotels to stay in this one. By the way everyone seems to slam their door when they walk about (there are no door stoppers. This will result in you not getting sleep. Like I said I should've went to the shop so hot but anyways my mistake notice for next time please enjoy the photos of the toiletries in the window I think it's very professional and very chic

Concierge always friendly- gave us helpful advice for the top spots in NYC. Room was small but always clean anderen tidied up. Coffee in the lobby was free and the WiFi quite fast.

Tiny rooms. Smells odd. We had to switch rooms because we found hairs in the bathroom. The second room was better, but not by much. The staff was very nice about the change.
Enough plugs for devices and Wifi included. It's in a really good spot, next to the F metro line. Everything looks modern so it feels alright.response / report this review
