First time in NYC for me and my wife. We found the Franklin to be a fantastically bizarre experience! Straight from a 70's movie set the minute you step into the bijou lobby and the gorgeous art deco lift we felt like Woody Allen would be down the corridor shouting "action!"

The room was compact but adequate. The beds were sumptuous and clean. 2pillows wasn't enough but that got remedied in no time at all.

Breakfast every morning was a delight. Cereals pastries jams yoghurt cheeses, oh and the coffeethe coffee was fantastic.

The location near to the subway and a quick walk to Central Park is superb.

This was my idea of a NYC hotel I had in my mind as a kidno nonsense courteous staff quirky art deco touches, and sat almost at the aorta of the heart of one of the best cities in the world.

The hotel is small the rooms are small, everything about this hotel outside of it's beds is small, the shower is hot or cold nothing can be done about it while ur there, the receptions staff are nice and they know they can't do anything to help but want to help but for the price not worth it

We really enjoyed The Franklin. Our room was cozy, clean and the bed was comfortable. The location was perfect for sightseeing, close to subway station and walking distance to Central Park. We enjoyed breakfast each morning and wine and cheese in the evening. It was nice to connect with other guests and compare city adventures. We enjoyed tbe common area each night to play cards. Best part of The Franklin was the staff. Everyone we encountered was amazing! We highly recommend The Franklin and we will use it again.

The hotel is centrally located. However the rooms are very cramped. The staff charged me $22 extra for no reason and are not responding or reversing the charge.

The location is great next to cvs, Starbucks local bakeries and express metro to lower Manhattan. Rooms are small but cozy service is great but breakfast could have fresher bread.

I was given wrong information several times by staff of the hotel which led to many problems including issues with checking-in and wrongful charges. The staff were extremely rude and wouldn't take responsibility for the inconsistent information given. The hotel also happened to be under construction during the time of my stay which the staff neglected to mention. Booking and being charged were not an issue but offering decent service and being professional was very problematic for them. I would not recommend staying at this hotel.

Checked in, tonight, paid $157. Room AC was not working. The only thing the AC did was make a noise of a caliber high enough to compete with road jackhammer. Overhead light was controlled by a dimmer which did not work, so you had either blasting light or no light except for side lamps. Bathroom steam pipe covered by a torn asbestus type wrapping instead of encased in something. Refreshments artfully lined up but no ice bucket, no refrigerator, no visible source of ice cubes. On a hot day, lukewarm coca cola and water are not very refreshing.

Fist time staying, very very very disappointed. Its a real pity because the staff is efficient and charming, the hotel is well decorated and clean, the heavy expenditures of finishing doors, walls, carpeting furnishings, sinks etc have been done and are e xcellent.but no AC, come on get real!

Had to shower with a plunger
Remote and tv had dust
Drilling lasts from 7am-8pm daily. Sounds like nails are being drilled into ur door
Room smelled old
Booked room for two ppl received two towels and a face towel. No rags had to bath with a face towel -_- yup.
Checked out less than 24 hours later

NIGHT OUT OF A HORROR MOVIE. PSYCHOPATH, DOMESTIC ABUSE AND SCARED TO BE AT HOTEL. BLATANT DISREGARD FOR CUSTOMER SAFETY.

My mother, 2 year old, and I recently stayed at the Franklin. It was a Sunday night, and upon returning to the hotel, we heard a couple arguing on our floor. We decided to go ahead and head to bed in hopes that things would calm down. They did not. I called downstairs and told the person at the desk that they send a bellman up, who didn't hear anything. I then called downstairs again and they said that they called their room and everything seemed in order. It was a typical example of Murphy's law at its finest.

The arguing, fighting, and verbal abuse went on ALL night long: screaming, crying, yelling. They had a blatant disrespect for the entire floor. We were frightened to be staying there. They came out of the room, slammed the door, were in the hallway; it was absolutely horrible. I didn't sleep a wink and neither did my mother. At one point we heard the female plead "NO! NO! Please NO!" We then heard a loud bang or smack. Things had escalated and he was definitely abusing her.

My toddler was woken up at 3:30 AM when the NYPD came knocking on their door. The couple staying next-door to us had called apparently.

I told my Mom as soon as the sun was up we were getting out of there, and would be sure to express to management our disappointment with how the safetly of their guests was not a priority.

The next morning the couple was still there, and could still be heard. They had calmed down (bc they had surely been warned by the police) but were still there.

I spoke with the manager when we checked out (we were supposed to stay there Monday night as well, but went elsewhere) and he said that what we had heard could not be proved; insinuating that I was lying about the whole ordeal. He also refused to refund us the money for that night in the hotel. I cannot believe how horribly we were treated, especially since my mother has stayed at the Franklin several times when visiting my sister.

This hotel does not value the safety and well being of its customers and I have never been treated so horribly as a customer in my entire life.

Had an amazing stay. Room was small but welcome to NYC I guess. Staff was polite and extremely informative. Room was clean every day after our adventures in NYC.

This hotel is very old school New York I loved it. The rooms are very small and we had a view of a brick wall but apart from the view it was just what we needed. Bed was very comfy.

I had high hopes for this hotel. Especially considering the price.
Here are just few of the reasons to avoid The Franklin..

- No WifI for free OR to buy (They recommended I use there greasy laptop by the front desk. I didn't dignify that with an answer.)
- Walked in my room and the fire alarm was chirping every 30 seconds. Anyone who cared about the property would have heard that from the hall way and had maintenance fix it long ago.
- Standing water in the Shower/tub
- My 5am wake up call went to the wrong room.

I could go on but I think you get the point. There are so many great properties in NYC. Just do yourself a favor and choose one of those instead.
