The hotel was really nice. The bellmen were great. However, the customer service was extremely poor at the bar. The front desk told us drinks were 2 for 1 and then the bartender (Javier) wouldn't honor it. It became quite the fiasco. He was very rude and tried to upcharge us on everything and made a scene in front of everyone else at the bar.
Sadly we did not have a good experience at Ameritania and when I tried to handle things discreetly the hotel did not cooperate. I was not able to sleep at all in the room on our 1st night, Nov 30th. The bed was too hard, the pillows too odd and lumpy, the air system would to cool the room and due to the noise outside I was not able to simply leave windows open. Additionally I have allergies and sensitivities had asked for a room without carpet deodorizer or fragrances but there was a strong smell in the room that I could not get rid of even after hours with the windows open. We were in town for a group event and I could not afford to go more nights with no sleep and with fragrances/ chemicals that could make me ill. I spoke to the front desk and the manager and told them that I would have to change hotels since several of the issues were not things that they could fix. I told the manager that I did not want to make a big deal about my moving out nor did I want to draw attention to it in a way that would reflect poorly on the hotel or the group. I moved out and unfortunately the billing department has been unwilling to work with me on refunding the nights that I was physically unable to stay. Therefore I am making these issues known to all and letting folks know that I do not recommend this hotel at all.
I'd probably award this hotel 4.5 stars instead of 4 and you will see why that is later on in this review. I think this is a great hotel. The staff there are very friendly and are committed to customer service. This was evident in an issue that was resolved by the manager in an expeditious manner. I also found that the guest service agents were welcoming and friendly. The hotel is very clean which was very important in my decision to stay at this hotel. Sometimes it's extremely difficult to find clean affordable accommodations in the big cities. My only gripe is that that there are no coffee machines in the rooms. I had a peanut allergy reaction to food that I had purchased at Cascades. I had to get up at 4am in the morning to buy ginger ale at the Subway restaurant as there was nothing to boil water in my room to make tea. The hotel is in a very noisy area of Manhattan but luckily each hotel room has ear plugs for their guests. I used them the second and third night that I stayed at this hotel. I will definitely recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to stay in Manhattan and close to the theatre district. It's affordable, clean and the hotel management/ and other staff are friendly.
I give 3* for the employees who are really kind and available. I do not have personnally had a good experience. Breakfast is not included. I did not like the bed, not hard enough (my friend liked it so it depends ). Rooms are really small. Not possibility to do a tea on your room. .no tools for that. .. well
We had a great experience. Hotel service was great. We asked to be moved to an interior room due to noise and they quickly accommodated. Rooms are normal ny size but still spacious.
We stayed here 2 years ago in March for 1 night and I have yet to write a review. The room is small, BUT it packs a punch in style, and it is really clean. Plus the location can't be beat. The lobby has a cozy fireplace and the front desk was amazing. Plus for $129, it was a steal!
Absolutely fantastic. The hotel is nice. The bar is good and the staff are brilliant. Especially Emily the manager. Moura on the bar and Julian one of the doorman.
The location is great. Just a short walk from Central Park. Times square and all the shops. The hotel is nice and updated style. They only have showers though. They changed our room at last minute to give us a better experience but did not let us know so we were surprised.
Location of the hotel is great and the staff are all amazing. We did have a hiccup when we first got there with our room which wasn't ready and after traveling 20hr+ hours it annoyed us. Apart from that great so far
Great location for a trip in the heart of Big apple.. be careful with the drinks and stuff already provided.. but polite and helpful team with good service.
Room was clean and well equipped.. ugly backside 😬 but quiet.. (who stays in the room in NYC?)..
Recommend this place.
Was originally placed in a tiny room the size of Harry Potter's cuboard under the stairs. Went and talked to Rob at the front desk who felt our pain and hooked us up with a sweet double. Room was spacious and so was the bathroom. Beds were wicked comfortable. Location was excellent, steps away from Central Park and the theatre district. Definitely recommend if you're staying in one of the double rooms.
Location is great, lobby is renovated fashionable - chic, bathrooms are great, fine bar at the lobby with reasonable prices.
They changed the towels and fixed the bed and bathroom but did not actually clean the room (stayed there for 9 nights).
Friendly staff
We had a wonderful experience here. The staff were very welcoming and willing to help. There was a lovely man working there by the name of Jeff that ensured our parking tickets were stamped and also gave us advice regarding navigating around the city. We will be coming back to this location.
I stayed here one night after staying at a higher rated hotel for the previous three nights (I combined a business and personal trip).
I liked the room layout of this hotel better as you have a bedroom and then a separate living room with couch, chairs, coffee table, TV etc. There is also a TV in the bedroom.
There is a waterfall shower with excellent pressure.
The location is great as it's close to times square and the subway, so easy to walk around the sites or jump on the train. Its also very easy to get to from JFK airport, just take the air train and then the E train and it takes a little over and hour.
Given the choice between this hotel and he one is stayed in before it (which cost $150 more a night) I would stay here.
We stayed with a large group of friends for a few nights in January and had a great time! The staff were very welcoming and could not do enough for us. Jeff, the doormen, in particular was always ready to help with cabs, places to eat and he even looked after our luggage on our last day. The lobby and bar area was also very nice, with comfy seats and even a fire! The barman also does a nice line in Margaritas too! Highly recommended! cant wait to go back!
Room Tip: Pick rooms on a higher floor as Broadway is right outside!
